Can someone kindly recommend me some good soap bars to use daily? I use dove white color soap bar but feel it doesn't really clean.

Pears for hands round the house because I can't justify the Aesop any more and on the go at the mo in the shower is a massive neroli and bergamot slab from TK Maxx which smells amazing.

OhScurvyCompanion · 14/08/2023 21:44

Pears all the way here. Such a comforting old fashioned smell

Agree on poor choice at supermarkets

AnneShirleysNewDress · 14/08/2023 21:52

Neste Dante soaps are lovely.

SirChenjins · 14/08/2023 21:54

Dettol soap - a lovely sort of lemony fragrance and always makes me feel clean and fresh, as does Cussons Imperial Leather

GertrudeKerfuffle · 14/08/2023 22:05

Friendly soap are great. No palm oil, no plastic, no unnecessary ingredients, and lots of choice.

I think we're all busy buying the big 300g bars at TKMaxx and so the supermarkets aren't realising we want bar soap. It's such an easy win from an environmental viewpoint as well, it's much cheaper than liquid soap. Had a check on the Sainsbury's website and when I search 'soap' the eight cheapest options are all bar soaps (cheapest of which is just 27p/100g for a packet of 4 soaps), followed by three Dove bars before you get to the cheapest liquid soap (which isn't so cheap when you remember it's mainly water and only contains asmall amoint of actual soap).

A local farmer has a herd of goats, she makes soap without all the additives which make me itch. I like the lavender one. There's no packaging, it's so creamy one bar lasts a month or so. She sells them on Etsy. They're £5 .

Eczema sufferers buy them she says

How do everyone manage to hold those great big bars of soap from TK Maxx? I’ve given up with them, they’re too difficult to grip - I tried cutting the bar with a knife but it didn’t work.

justasking111 · 14/08/2023 22:15

Try heating the knife.

The80sThe80s · 14/08/2023 22:17

I don’t like the huge TK Max bars - difficult to hold and use and I get bored of the smell by the time I’m half way through.

SirChenjins · 14/08/2023 22:18

Tried that too but it didn’t work. Might see if I can heat the soap and soften it - that might work

guiltyfeethavegotnorythm0 · 14/08/2023 22:18

My husband cuts them for me after heating a knife over the gas hob . Horrible job but I'm not doing it 😁

Mmr224 · 14/08/2023 22:18

We use pears either green or blue, sometimes traditional gold one. Dove makes us all itchy. We buy in savers or morrisons on offer and a bar lasts about a month for 4 of us in the bathroom for hands and showers.

Delphigirl · 14/08/2023 22:19

I like Kleen soap on a rope. No nasties, great smells and can hang up in the shower so it doesn’t go slimy

JaninaDuszejko · 14/08/2023 22:25

The wonderful RE sell this lovely French Shea Butter Soap in a vast variety of scents. I can higly recommend them (plus a trip to Corbridge to shop in person).

vincettenoir · 14/08/2023 22:30

Another vote for Johnson’s baby.

guiltyfeethavegotnorythm0 · 14/08/2023 22:32

I use three different types of soap in the shower , shea butter for my face , a sensitive one for down below and a random perfumed one for elsewhere .

Theoldwoman · 14/08/2023 22:33

Pears
Imperial Leather
Palmolive Gold
Dettol

RoseMartha · 14/08/2023 22:36

Any from body shop. I also like the gift ones you can buy which last me months. I have a seaweed one in the cupboard and a honey one, I treated myself to when I was on holiday. They are more expensive but as I say last a lot longer.

Nearlyadoctor · 14/08/2023 22:41

The White Company soaps are lovely, my favourite is Seychelles.

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/08/2023 22:42

I like the triple milled soaps you can by in TK Maxx. They last months.

Seaweasel · 14/08/2023 22:45

Another vote for friendly soap.

Bearpawk · 14/08/2023 22:47

Green pears !!
