Invited to an A list wedding- need an outfit!

I’ve been invited to a very high profile wedding. I had planned to lose 2 stone to fit into my outfit.
I didn’t.
So now I have a few weeks to find a stunning outfit (online) but my searching just keeps pulling up the same old shops- Reiss, Karen Millen, SHEIN/boo hoo etc. I’ve looked at needle and thread, Nancy max, the OUTNET.
What great websites can I look at to find-
Budget up to around £500
i suit red/cobalt blue/deep pink/green- jewel colours
I suit jumpsuits/ midi and maxi dresses/high necks if they are high cowl/structured, one shouldered and halterneck things and wide leg trousers and blazers
I like structured clothes but it doesn’t have to be
I don’t suit short dresses or anything wafty or round necks or pastel colours.
I'm size 16, fairly big boobed.

Bonus points if you can find me something!

Exactly the same. Unless you live in an Amish community or want to look like Miss Haversham.

Ironically, they made the American football shirt dress look vaguely passable.

h3ll0o · 02/08/2023 07:22

Nancy Mac have a range of jumpsuits.

NOTANUM · 02/08/2023 07:40

I don’t think Batsheva is batshit crazy. I see many wear similar around London.

But it’s a young look.

Some of the responses on this thread are disgraceful - and the people making them don’t belong on this board. Or even on MN actually.

I considered this for a wedding recently. I know it’s welllllll under budget so possibly not flashy enough for a fancy wedding but it sounds like the colours would suit you and it’s a lovely shape. (I ended up going for a cream and orange cowl jumpsuit from Warehouse and it got loads of compliments - not in your colour scheme but I’d highly recommend)

Deep V Neck Border Print Jumpsuit | Warehouse

A jumpsuit designed with a wide leg fit and deep V-neckline. Elevated with puffed sleeves and an all-over print.

with that timeline:

step away from online and go to a “real”/physical store if possible.
You don’t have time for the return, order again, maybe get it altered spiel.

invest in some tailoring.

Talbot and Runhof might have something you like, but I don’t know if that’s available where you’re at.

Unfortunately most non mainstream brands don't have physical shops. Some brands might be stocked by the likes of Liberty, Browns, Harvey Nick's or independent boutiques but they will only carry a small selection. Some brands are online only.

If the OP is in or near London, browsing in Liberty or Brown's would be an option.

NatashaDancing · 02/08/2023 08:14

That's a really annoying website. I can see the dress for about 2 seconds before a pop up, which won't go away, asking me to create an account blocks the whole site.

ShiteRider · 02/08/2023 08:20

It’s so interesting, how people’s perceptions differ. I see a silver dress when I click on that link which to my eye looks like a really odd combination of glam and (to steal someone else’s description upthread) Amish. It’s pretty shapeless and doesn’t fit well but I feel like if it did fit it would look even worse.

It’s certainly something that I would describe as frumpy (if I used that word), but someone else would probably love this, wear it and look amazing.

mainbrochus · 02/08/2023 08:20

Hmmmm the summer stuff was much nicer ! But it is structured

That is unfortunately true…

talbot and runhof really do have nice things this seasons and they also do online ordering.

but I’m not sure they still ship to the UK nowadays/ post Brexit. Maybe that’s why they’re not suggested more frequently on these threads…

I’ve also just realised that they wouldn’t be within the OP’s budget, so never mind.

I don't use "frumpy" but I was confused why someone was complaining about frumpy dresses but included a link to that dress.

HoneyIShrunkThePizza · 02/08/2023 08:37

Really impressed how NatashaDancing didn't engage with the nastiness. Batsheva is not my style either but only because I recognise I am already now horribly untrendy at the grand old age of 32. Some of those I could really see SJP wearing in SATC.

Omg them dresses are hideous!

Maireas · 02/08/2023 08:41

Taste is very subjective, isn't it?
I think the OP wants strong jewel colours and a good silhouette. Avoiding florals and pastels. Some good suggestions here - I was going recommend the Vampyres Wife, but I see someone upthread already has. That Batsheva link takes you to the American football shirt dresses (which would be a statement!) but they do more mainstream looks.
I would definitely recommend looking at Wolf and Badger and the Outnet.

Maireas · 02/08/2023 08:49

Dismissing clothes as "frumpy" and "Amish" misses the point. It's a look.
OP, anything a possibility so far?

@NatashaDancing is a great poster on this board. Always has interesting ideas- not always to my taste but that's beside the point. So much more interesting to have a bit of variety rather than us all just recommending the same old brands to each other over and over again.

Frumpy for me is clearly not frumpy for you and we are all entitled to our thoughts. I think lots of the posters are going off-brief, which was 'A-lister wedding outfit', not suggestions for a random family wedding in middle England, which many of the outfits would be v suitable for.

The Vampires Wife has a giant celebrity following and would therefore be very suitable for the brief: A lister wedding.

This is one of their best selling designs, which comes in many different fabrics:
