Clothes to keep cool for fatty going to hot holiday

Help! I am a size 20 and need to source some clothes that I won’t melt in for two trips: one to Croatia in a few weeks and the second to Singapore in October where it will be relentlessly humid. The second trip will also involve another trip to an island including a jungle trek…So I need a mix of the right clothes for this plus resort and city wear!
If anyone can find loose, comfortable, cool clothes for big sizes and links to them, I would be most grateful. Bonus points for swimsuits (huge chest so always a challenge).

@Gonnawashmymouthout you may be right. Sorry if i caused offence . I am so sick of women putting themselves down. Yes you can be heavy and beautiful. You can be skinny and beautiful. I am just so sick of women having to feel that they have to describe themselves as FAT or SKINNY or OLD . We are just women and we need to build each other up. And lets face it. Calling someone fat is not self empowering for the most part. Most of us who have faced weight issues KNOW that most of the time it is someone Insulting us. I used to be alot heavier and my husband once said to me .. after I came home so upset because someone had commented on how much weight I had gained, he said.. she may be skinny.. but if you choose to you can lose weight, but she will always be a mean rude cunt. So I stand beside my words. Do not call ourselves FAT, UGLY, SKINNY we are all beautiful women as long as we are nice people.

Absolutely no offence!! I’m fat! And I own it. It’s not a moral failing. It doesn’t make me inferior to anyone else. I’m still beautiful.

I'm a big fan of these. Not tight or clingy , loose enough, slightly cuffed, silky thin material, great for rinsing through and drying overnight.
I'm a 16/18 and have the XL which are comfy but too long on my 5'2" frame. So turn over at waist.
Sadly I see XXL sold out but still posting in case helps others.

I've worn a lot of linen blends from M&S this year (tops and their cropped wide leg trousers - they're a dream, cool and beautifully airy and comfortable, plus don't crease as much as pure linen). My go to swimming costumes have been these from Next (I have the multicoloured floral print and the terracotta spot one). I'm a size 20 and this costume fits a treat, it has ample bust space (and you can actually manipulate the wrap over bit to provide more cleavage coverage if you wish), bit of tummy control without being heavy and cumbersome, and again - so comfortable and actually had a couple of compliments on them!

I'm in Kuala Lumpur at the moment & I'm wearing cropped wide trousers in linen or muslin. Plus loose linen t shirts or muslin sun tops. Muslin trousers from M&S as attached, plus the sun tops.
They are in & out of stock several times a day so do keep checking.

Thank you again for all the tips and links. I went to M&S and Uniqlo yesterday. Walked away with some air vests and a t shirt. The Uniqlo XL is too small for me - yikes. The linen trousers in M&S made me look even more enormous than usual - especially around my tummy. Their tops did nothing for me either. I really want to like their clothes as they are easy to find but the cut never works for me there! For some reason boring old Boden always seems to come through. Off to look online there!

@tanyamcquoid I fid Uniqlo xl in tops too snug and take their xxl. In other brands I'm 16/18.

tanyamcquoid · 21/07/2023 21:17

I couldn’t find anything in XXL in their shop @rileynexttime !

Hi OP
I live in viscose in the summer, I find it much cooler than linen or cotton.
On very hot days, I'm normally in black dress or wide leg trousers with a loose v neck Tshirt and I cover up with a kimono from One Hundred Stars.
Their stuff is beautiful, it feels amazing on and the one size fits me easily at a size 20/22.
I find it much cooler to have my skin covered and have had loads of compliments when I wear them.

Ginmonkeyagain · 22/07/2023 09:12

@rileynexttime It depnds on the cut. I am a 14/16 bottom and a 12/14 top and take a M or L in Uniqlo.

Althouhh I concede I should have read the OP more carefully as Uniqlo is a Japanese brand so don't do a lot of plus size stuff.

cuckyplunt · 22/07/2023 09:16

I wear a lot of onelife stuff, lovely loose cotton blends that don’t need ironing, it is not cheap though. I tend to buy a piece every year to boost my Summer wardrobe.

SockGoddess · 22/07/2023 09:59

I find uniqlo varies a lot - sometimes it is oversized. I have a long viscose cami dress that I had to alter as it was so big in a L (I’m a 14} so bigger sizes would have definitely fitted a 20. Worth trying or going into a RL shop.

jac12 · 22/07/2023 10:57

I have this dress. I'm size 32. Heavier on the bottom. I have a size 24. It is so comfortable and cool. I wear it all the time. It doesn't crease either. It is also lined. They only have a 16 left, but you might get away with it.

Sorry, they do have more sizes.

Thank you @jac12 ! I will take a look.
I wouldn’t have risked 16 as weirdly I find their stuff a bit unforgiving if it’s a non-stretch fabric. Maybe I’m in denial!
