Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

@Buster27 @Peridot1 I want that keen on the JF serum either though I do like the cleanser and M3(?) cream. I only used a few drops - it didn't absorb very well. I preferred the SHS serum.

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 13:51

@Buster27 - I wasn’t even using a pipette full! Three drops I was using. I have the step three moisturiser too and that’s almost finished. I have one other unopened BP serum - Ultra bomb or something? And three Japanfusion cleansers. And then I cancelled my membership as I got a bit fed up with the membership thing.

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 13:51

@Cyclingmummy1 - yes I find it doesn’t absorb well at all on me.

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/08/2023 14:31

@Peridot1 youth bomb? A colleague raves about it, but it's not cheap!

Buster27 · 19/08/2023 14:48

@Cyclingmummy1 @Peridot1
Yes I think I did probably use less than a pipette actually as it was slightly tacky if I remember right (I finished it a couple of weeks ago, currently using a biossance oil which is also pink, mixing them up as I do use a full pipette of it). Absorbed OK on me but I think it was that product that some people added to moisturiser or mist, so not absorbing well is not an uncommon complaint about it I don't think.

Is it the YouthBomb one you have Peridot? I didn't get on with it but it seemed to get rave reviews so hopefully works for you! I'm also not sure I will renew my membership when the time comes.

Peridot1 · 19/08/2023 14:59

@Buster27 @Cyclingmummy1 - yes it’s YouthBomb! I think I will keep going with the Japanfusion serum at night using less and see how I go.

Got some empties together.

I am having a bit of an overhaul. I have always been environmentally aware and feel like my standards have been eroded with the busy mum/life and I want to get back to what’s important to me. However I have a huge stash to use up. Been de stashing probably a year or so tbh.

I’m a complete deorganised beauty junkie. I made a list a while back but of course didn’t update as I went!

The only things I’ve needed to purchase in last couple of years were cleansers, deodorants and mascaras. I had enough of everything else else. That doesn’t mean I didn’t stop buying though but I have reduced. And I did get the H&M advent last year as a treat. Prob won’t this year though.

Loreal Fine flowers. I like a cream cleanser and this one did what it needed. Once I’ve used the other cleanser up I’ll prob replace with this one again whilst I research a more natural alternative. Any ideas. I use a cream cleanser every evening. I don’t want a balm/oil that needs washing off then.

Moo Goo Shampoo. The only shampoo I’ll use. My scalp has been horrendous all my life until I discovered this 10 years ago. Am taking this bottle to be refilled in a few weekends time which is next time I visit a town where I get hair cut.

Waitrose Wild fig and sandalwood. Cheap enough and nice scent but prefer it as bubble bath. Have a million others to use up. Won’t replace. Mostly use soap these days. Less plastic.

Temple spa Most revealing. Glowing Skin Oxygen Peel with Glycolic Acid. I got this as part of a collection. Wouldn’t play £40 for it. It is fun to use and does leave my skin looking brighter. However it doesn’t really align with where my purchasing ethos is going so won’t repurchase.

Moo Goo deodorant. Been using this about 5 years since I started getting sensitive pits. Have lots in my stash to use esp as my DD has started to need one.
I was using Mitchum. It took a while to change over from something so heavy to this. I’ve mostly been really happy with my moo goo deodorant. However last week I’ve been sweating loads and struggled. Peri- menopausal perhaps. I’ve now bought Wild deodorant. I suspect I’ll use these two alternatively tbh.

Temple spa Mascara. Discovered this through a friend rep who sold limelife which was basically the same product but more expensive with a &5 delivery charge. This was the mascara that stopped me buying lots of different mascara. Generally go through two a year- birthday and Christmas I open new ones. It works. I like it. It’s been discontinued. I’m gutted. I’ll have to go back to limelife whose ethos I’m not keen on and is more expensive.

Alpha-H liquid gold. This was like the magic porridge pot. I thought it was never going to finish. It lasted the guts of a year on 3 times a week usage. I've found not using a cotton pad to apply these things makes them last so much longer. I just splash it on. I do like this. I'm sure I'll get another one in an M&S box again.

Lacuna Q10 serum. I had 3 of these. Hated the first as the smell was awful. Interestingly, this one, and the third, don't smell anywhere as bad and I'm fine with it.

Medic8 Retinoate. I really liked this. Would possibly RP if I ever finish my stash.

@CornishTiger I use L'Oréal Age Perfect cleanser and toner. Does a good job of removing makeup and it's cheap. Get mine from the supermarket

Fraaahnces · 20/08/2023 14:03

@Peridot1 you might really enjoy this one. It’s a very natural company. No icky things or stupid fragrance. Their products are wonderful. giving you an EXTRA discount at YesStyle.com! Peridot1 · 20/08/2023 14:07

Looks interesting @Fraaahnces. Will make a note of it. I think I have quite a few cleansers in my stash for now though.

CorneliaStreet · 20/08/2023 14:22

@CornishTiger I like oat milk cleansers. I’m currently using a lovely one by BYBI and the Q&A oat cleanser is also a good one. I think both are sold at Holland & Barrett.

MavisMcMinty · 20/08/2023 14:27

Here’s a huge pile of empties, too many to mention individually. Several months’ worth, in my defence.

That's an impressive pile!

MavisMcMinty · 20/08/2023 14:32

Not nearly as impressive as my unopened pile, unfortunately. Although in my defence (again), I haven’t bought anything since early July. Apart from my three monthly subscription boxes, I mean.

Gingefringe · 20/08/2023 14:39

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before on these threads, but just wondering whether you are using the Boots recycling scheme which gives you 500 advantage points for 5 empties ? It's a bit of a faff but I've been using it for a few months now and collected a thousands of points and some money off vouchers.

Oh wow, thanks! John Lewis ran a similar scheme before lockdown in 2020, don’t know if they still do.

Amazing! I didn’t know about this. Oddly enough I’ve just been reading about John Lewis doing a beauty recycling project for which yig get rewards. I didn’t know what it was so now I do. Thanks for that!

Experiment627 · 20/08/2023 17:03

@CornishTiger I am trying Wild deoderant at the moment and am loving it!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 20/08/2023 20:02

@Gingefringe I used that scheme the other day. Was a bit of a faff, downloading app, photoing everything, and describing. A couple of things were rejected. Be warned you only get about 3 days to make your 20quid plus purchase, to get your extra points, but the good thing is you can 'stack' offers at Boots. I had a 10 off 20 voucher, then 1/3 off no 7, and I ended up getting the new no 7 serum for about 13 quid instead of 39. I also got a fivers worth of extra points. Worth doing if you know all that, and time it right.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 20/08/2023 20:29

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants have they increased the spend threshold? 😓

Fraaahnces · 21/08/2023 05:35

This is such a first world issue, I know… I have a $100 voucher for Mecca Cosmetica (Mecca and Sephora are our big beauty chain stores) that I received for my birthday. A lovely, thoughtful gift. There are so many things at Sephora I could easily drop the lot on, but nothing is exciting me at Mecca. They have Charlotte Tilbury, but I’m a bit 🤷🏼‍♀️ with that… Should I just wait for the Christmas editions? (Bobbi Brown usually does an eyeshadow stick one, right? Nars?) I’m a bit flat atm and need a bit of a pickup. Maybe bite the bullet and get one of those bronzer doodads from CT, as everyone seems to love them.

CorneliaStreet · 21/08/2023 06:03

@Fraaahnces Do you like eyeshadow? Not sure if Mecca have Natasha Denona, but there’s a new midi palette coming out called I Need a Nude. I think it’s just launched in the US and is due out in the UK in a couple of weeks.

Experiment627 · 21/08/2023 07:46

@Fraaahnces I totally get wanting a "pick me up" but I find spending on beauty products I do not actually want vair counter productive.

I have some empties:

  • Odylique congest ease essential oil blend: great for a blocked nose/cough. One of the few blends I have found that does not contain Tea Tree oil -which I cannot stand.
  • Anjou deep cleansing nose pore strips: work just as well as Biore - but way cheaper
  • Dirty works getting fizzy with it mini bath bombs: really very disappointed with these - not enough fizz, not enough scent

Fraaahnces · 21/08/2023 08:22

@CorneliaStreet - I love the look of that palette too! Looks so useful! I have the Glam Palette and really like it, but still feel like it’s a bit of a one trick pony. Unfortunately that will be at Sephora whenever it lands in Aus. (Definitely would get it on sale though.)
@Experiment627 - I actually do want and need some bits and pieces, as a lot of my makeup is rather ancient. (And I’ve been using it up!) I don’t have a bath, so that rules out luxe bath products and hate things like face masks. Siiigh! I really need shampoo and treatment but going to order from Korea. (Fussy bugger, aren’t I?)
