Help finding outfit for 40-ish bride, second wedding

Definitely don't want to do big wedding meringue. Not even sure I want to go all white/cream. Early summer wedding. Love a vintage style.

Sadly did the 1950's calf length, halter-neck full-skirt look the first time round, so feel like I can't go there, which would be my natural inclination, so I was thinking of something more 1940's? Maybe a cream silk peplum jacket over the top, fabulous halo hat with netting, but what the fuck do I wear underneath?

I'm 5'4", size 12, hourglass shape with a bit of a mum-tum I'm self-conscious about, english rose colouring, dark blonde, green/grey eyes.

I'm obsessed with the Sable dress from Nancy Mac in the seafoam or periwinkle colours, but they're velvet and i think that would just look really weird in the summer...

So, help me think about options?

Or Suzannah Suzannah

O.m.g. these are so beautiful and there are multiple ones I love. I can't afford any of them though.
I'm trying to get the dress for under 100 if I can, though I'll spend more if it's something I could wear again.
This is gorgeous but I can't justify the money

We got married abroad but had to do registry office here first, so I had a more casual dress for that, have you thought about tea length? I think mine was from coast about £100 but it was a few years ago. (It was January so I was freezing during the outdoor pictures...)

Casual is probably the wrong word, just not big white gown/train/veil etc

CatMattress · 25/05/2023 11:46

OOH - I love the needle and thread, madison and nobody's child dresses. Good shout. Lots of options.
Thank you so much all. Need to try some stuff on!

If you contact Nancy Mac I think they will make any of their dresses in a different fabric/length etc. worth a shout if you adore the dress but don’t want velvet.

Or Suzannah Suzannah

I got mine from Suzannah London in the sale. It was a silk 40s style tea dress and they made alterations so it fit me perfectly.

I love this for a figure with a bust although it's not cheap but has a Vivienne Westwood vibe and her dresses are thousands. Some nice non bridal dresses on here that suit busts I think I would stay away from the ethereal style from experience (am a 32 F and love that look but just cannot pull it off with my chest) https://www.houseofcb.com/delphine-ivory-draped-corset-bridal-gown-limited-edition.html

Oh and now I am going to spend way too much on Nancy Mac! Never heard of her site before and it's all gorgeous!

GarlicGrace · 26/05/2023 11:41

Not the way you seem to be going, but thought I'd Throw Something New Into The Mix. My mum got married in the mid-fifties, wearing a rather nice pink suit that was kind of Jackie O style. I found these. Everything looks to be around £100. https://houseofmeliora.com
