Flower Mountain are the latest hot school run brand AFAIK or try New Balance Fresh Foam x Hierro. Trekking style trainers are in at the moment so should be comfy.

These are my go to for wearing with a dress, not chunky at all and goes well with my cankles!

How about some Superga?

Saucony jazz come in several colours and have a great retro style

Boymama84 · 09/05/2023 08:20

Thanks you I’ll start checking them out I feel really out of style as have only heard of one of the above 4 brands……. I’ll start googling!! X

Rocket dog jazzins are my new go to. Not top of the trend tables, but I think they’re cute! Plenty of plain ones available, often at cut prices compared to the main website. They’ve soft memory foam insoles, and canvas uppers make them cool.

I wear Converse ballet style which are similar to the Lacostes linked above. They are more of a slip on plimsoll than a trainer though so depends what you are looking for. I have chunky calves and proper trainers with skirts look awful on me!

Adidas Stan Smiths 👌🏼

These look like they’d be the least flattering shoe for cankles?! I have them too 😭 cankles, not the shoes.

After resisting new balance 574 for a very long time (thinking they weren’t very nice and ubiquitous) I bought a pair to try last week. I love them so much I have bought more this week in another colour way!

womenoftheworldtakeover · 09/05/2023 08:27

Wow, converse ballet style are another I thought would be terrible with chunky calves/cankles. Maybe I need to branch out.

gogohmm · 09/05/2023 08:31

I have a really comfy pair of adidas ones I recently bought from sports direct. Plain white, were £27. Came next day despite not paying for next day delivery!

The best runners for avoiding cankles- for those of us 'afflicted' - is the white Superga flatformhttps://www.schuh.ie/womens/superga-2790-flatform-white-trainers/1971571070/. They are lovely and slim but it's mostly the positioning of the tongue which doesn't come up too much thereby leaving the maximum amount of ankle exposed. I don't know about comfortable, they are fine once you break them in, but not runner comfortable if you know what I mean. Maybe not the right ones for you OP but thought I'd mention it for the chunky ankled amongst us..

I only found out recently that trainers with dresses is at last acceptable. Long may it remain so!

I have Veja Campos and they’re the comfiest trainers I’ve ever owned! They were like that straight out of the box as well. I live in them.

Yes they are really comfy. I picked my normal size and have had no problem

19lottie82 · 09/05/2023 08:58

Another vote for Adidas Stan Smith

Makingamess4212 · 09/05/2023 08:59

Maybe I'm just really poor but I've never heard of any of those brands 🤣 primark always have an array of trainers suitable to wear with dresses, they're cheap, cute, get you from A to B, and because of the low price you can buy a few different colours to mix and match !

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 09/05/2023 09:00

Converse/Stan Smiths/Vans are the best choice really. Really comfortable and not chunky at all
