Any trainer recommendations for dresses / skirt for a high arch - can't go flatform

GellerYeller · 09/05/2023 21:19

I’ve had all white Stan Smiths years so cost per wear has been good. Then I got New Balance327s which in comparison weigh nothing. I also have Veja Campos. I agree Converse have little padding and aren’t great for those who are wide of foot. Schuh and Office are great for trying loads of brands and styles if you’re near a branch.

Maybe I'm just really poor but I've never heard of any of those brands 🤣 primark always have an array of trainers suitable to wear with dresses, they're cheap, cute, get you from A to B, and because of the low price you can buy a few different colours to mix and match !

Buying a few different colours because they are cheap.....or spend the same on one decent pair, maybe?

Some ideas.
Especially if you can find dupes.

MrsMiddleMother · 09/05/2023 21:26

Adidas Stan smiths, soo comfy and practical. I personally find converse and vans really uncomfortable and love air force 1s but as you said they are quite chunky

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 09/05/2023 21:53

I’m quite relieved that having suffered and cured plantar fasciitis the only trainers I can wear without it flaring up are AF1s and 327s.

Those Flower ones £160 and I don’t even know the brand! 😱 (Says she who spent loads on KL ones 🫣)!

£60 for a pair of plimsolls???

Totally agree. I nearly purchased a pair of branded plimsoles for this price. Then I saw Sainsbury’s were selling very similar style shoes for around £16 a pair so I sent the other ones back and bought the Sainsbury’s ones instead.

FitFlop Rally. Like walking in air! Near minimal styling

I really like these fairfax and favour but ££££ 😂https://www.fairfaxandfavor.com/products/the-alexandra?currency=GBP&gclid=CjwKCAjw3ueiBhBmEiwA4BhspOftfIMJucquwNrYysjhEohJGvGLMQs4a-owa1FOjC0qpKmwzvcOvxoCkcoQAvD_BwE

like the ballet style ones but sure I had some of the converse ones years ago and they hurt (wide feet & not much padding to the canvas)
x

I have these and they are really nice and go with everything. They are really flat tho which if you aren't used to, can be a bit strange!

MrsRinaDecker · 09/05/2023 22:06

I have the converse ballet style ones and got loads of wear out of them last summer.
Also recently got white with pink new balance that feel pretty on trend.

Are you going to have someone available to tie your laces up for you as the pregnancy progresses, OP? I lived in Birkenstocks both times I was pregnant!

If not I wear Nike Blazers and Nike Court Legacies. They’re thinner soled so look better with dresses imo

anniewaitsforthelasttime · 09/05/2023 22:11

I got these about a month ago.

Look good and they are comfy. Great price too. Done a fair few long walks in them already as well as lots of day to day and they've been in the washing machine once when they got a bit grubby and came out fine.

I don't care if the dress, white trainers, denim coat look is now dated. Works for me!

ScarletWitchM · 09/05/2023 22:22

If you’re not precious about second hand stuff, Vinted is your friend. You can get barely worn trainers for under £20

@Redebs are you my mum?! That’s all I can hear when I read your comment 😂

Noodlehen · 09/05/2023 22:26

trainers and a dress are my staple.
I normally wear

  • adidas gazelle (v comfortable)
  • New balance 530 (v comfortable+++)
  • veja campo (not comfortable if on your feet a lot)
  • adidas Stan smith (comfortable)

The difference is fast cash, not fast fashion. To pull out roughly £100 just for shoes, in one lump sum? It's not going to happen. Or, the next time you have a spare few quid pick up some £10 trainers, and in a month or two if you have the chance again, pick up another pair 🤷‍♀️ the thought of spending, even just over £20 on shoes, absolutely shocks me. I grew up poor and I just can't justify the money.

Paulisexcluded · 09/05/2023 22:42

I like airmax 90s and have them in a neutral and a brighter colour scheme. Both second hand ebay under £20!

QueueEtwo · 09/05/2023 23:27

What colour are your AF1's OP because honestly I think they are nicer than some of these recommendations!

I also like an airmax 90 or a New Balance 327!

Fitflops everytime, I've got 4 different pairs of trainers, sandals and boots because I need arch support. All fitflops have memory foam insoles and inbuilt arch support. Perfect for people with plantar fascitiis & foot problems. .

Robinni · 10/05/2023 00:16

Birkenstock bend low are absolutely amazing and come in lots of different colours! Highly recommend.

Would like some 327s but wasn’t sure if too sporty. For a dress? X
