Dress for the large of nork?

Pheefifofuckthisshit · 03/05/2023 18:30

Argh I just typed a long post and lost it. 😭

I want to find some dresses that will fit my enormous boobs. They are not small or perky. I keep looking at dresses but notice they have are cut/shaped to fit nice normal shaped and sized boobs in. I can't afford a breast reduction and I can't wear tops or dresses without them hanging off my matronly boob area. 😭

I'm an 18-20. 5ft6. Bra size 34J.

My rig cage is 34. Around the fullest part of my chest while wearing a bra - 44. I'm in a well fitting bra that keeps them as lifted, supported and corralled as much as is going to be possible. I'd just love some clothes that I don't feel totally frumpy in. 😔

I also have a mum tum but it's the boobs that are the logistical / fit nightmare.

I'm living in jeggings and baggy t-shirts. I used to love to wear dresses.

Any advice appreciated.

Asda have some nice casual dresses

pktechgirl · 03/05/2023 18:43

Lady V London has dresses for busty curvy ladies. Some have stretch and some are cotton. I still have to pin the dress but have been pleased with the Lyra style dress.

I’m the same size as you OP and I have lots of dresses! There’s quite a lot about at the mo, what style do you like? The ones with a shirred section at the back are brilliant but can come in a lot if milkmaidy style prints!
would you like this kind of thing? It’s a great style for boobs.

i have also just brought this dress and it’s lovely. I got it in a chazza in the 12 and it fits so comes up big I’d say.

This style is great as it’s got the stretchy top. Straps are thin but I don’t care about hiding bra straps any more, life’s too short! No pockets tho :(

I find skater style dresses the most flattering for my 34Hs

LaLaLouella · 03/05/2023 19:47

They are not to everyone's taste - sone of the fabrics are completely bonkers - but sone of the Popsy dresses are really good for the big boobed.

I've finally found a jumpsuit that actually fits my body length and big boobs, and the wrap dresses actually fit!

LaLaLouella · 03/05/2023 19:49

A link would help!

GoodChat · 03/05/2023 20:09

Morrisons have got some lovely long causal summer dresses at the moment. I bought one yesterday and it's very flattering. I'm an F and the top section is fairly loose (in a 12) so you could probably comfortably wear it.

Unfortunately they don't have them online.

Laiste · 03/05/2023 20:10

NOT a wrap dress ...

is my best advice Smile

The number of times i see wrap dresses advised for large boobs and in fact they accentuate them a lot and draw the eye to them.

I'm big of nork and normal of ribcage and i find anything that even slightly swings from the bust just looks like a tent. Ruffles hint at milk maid.

I look best in dresses which are a simple basically bodycon shape, not necessarily tight, with a scoop or square neckline or, in fact, a polo neck. Sleeves or vest top.

Low or high necklines look best - I find mid height necklines look worst and give a massive boob shelf appearance.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 03/05/2023 20:28

@LaLaLouella

Love the shape of the dresses on their site! I hate my tummy and these look very forgiving :D

LaLaLouella · 03/05/2023 20:33

They are very forgiving - I've tried a few and I think the fabric quality varies wildly between the patterns. You've got to do a bit of a mix and match between styles and patterns to find one that works for you.

It's a bit cult like though - don't join their FB page or you may be totally put off!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 03/05/2023 20:39

I think most fb pages can be cult like!!

Thanks for the info I may invest in one or 2.. now looking a the rest of the links in this thread! Think I have found my people when it comes to clothing!

fyn · 03/05/2023 20:46

I am the same bra size and clothes size. I do wrap dresses or shirred top dresses. I have found the M&S x Ghost dresses are great and generously roomy around the boobs (via vinted). Also Nobody’s Child is quite generous! The shirred dresses are great because they accommodate boobs whilst fitting the back perfectly I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-cotton-printed-shirred-midaxi-dress/p/clp60594410?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share - I’m not taken with this dress but an example of the bodice!

Pure Cotton Printed Shirred Midaxi Dress | M&S Collection | M&S

With its eye-catching print and textured pure cotton fabric, this dress is made for summer days. It's cut in a comfy regular fit with a flattering square neckline. The bodice is shirred for a neat silhouette, while deep tiers give fullness to the midax...

I just love https://www.bombshellhq.com

There is a studio where you can book a fitting to work out what size to order online, or order lots. The fitting really held as they know what shape will look particularly good on you.

Enjoy.

Pheefifofuckthisshit · 03/05/2023 21:33

Ooh lots of replies thanks!

I have just ordered the h&m blue and white dress to try on. I'm not generally a fan of the shirred fabric over the bust, it tends to be it uses all that section for my bust and then the waistband sits right under my bust so starts weirdly high.

BUT I will try it and see how it fits. For that price it's worth a try on!

I've also ordered a few from Asda to try on. I was pleasantly surprised by the choice on there!

Boden I'm not sure about. Every photo on the website the models are the opposite of my body shape so hard to picture how they'd fit.

I'd had a few popsy dresses at one point but found the fabric sweaty and quick to bobble. I sold mine on and luckily they were snapped up by the cult fans. They have some lovely prints, just wish the fabrics were better.

Off to check the more recent links posted. Really glad I asked on here now. 🙂

Lady V London I also used to have some of their dresses! But they were more "going out" dresses and I no longer "go out" anywhere. 😔

Fedupwitheveryone · 03/05/2023 21:57

OP try some of the collared button up shirt dresses at Joanie. I've got one with Shirred back which is quite flexible and allows for boobs (34G here) and they do larger sizes

Daftapath · 03/05/2023 22:22

Have a look at Fairlie Curved. A company specifically for large norks!

fairliecurved.com

Redebs · 03/05/2023 22:35

Go for shift style or empire. Avoid wrap, shirtwaister or gathered top or waist. No gypsy necklines or cleavage.

Wear a long edge to edge cardigan over the top. Avoid blazer or jacket unless soft and unstructured.

Get a sturdy, non-balconette style bra. Something like a Doreen or a wired 3 piece cup.

Sorted!

EwwSprouts · 03/05/2023 22:38

Agree with @Laiste no wrap dresses. H&M tend to be too long as designed for Scandinavians.

I find Joe Browns are designed for those with norks & curves.

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 03/05/2023 22:39

Scarlett and Jo dresses are very flattering for the bigger norked amongst us. Some are a little matronly in design but some are really quite lovely. I got a beautiful gold dress for Christmas and had so many compliments on it - the fit was ace.
