Dress for the large of nork?

Pheefifofuckthisshit · 03/05/2023 18:30

Argh I just typed a long post and lost it. 😭

I want to find some dresses that will fit my enormous boobs. They are not small or perky. I keep looking at dresses but notice they have are cut/shaped to fit nice normal shaped and sized boobs in. I can't afford a breast reduction and I can't wear tops or dresses without them hanging off my matronly boob area. 😭

I'm an 18-20. 5ft6. Bra size 34J.

My rig cage is 34. Around the fullest part of my chest while wearing a bra - 44. I'm in a well fitting bra that keeps them as lifted, supported and corralled as much as is going to be possible. I'd just love some clothes that I don't feel totally frumpy in. 😔

I also have a mum tum but it's the boobs that are the logistical / fit nightmare.

I'm living in jeggings and baggy t-shirts. I used to love to wear dresses.

Any advice appreciated.

I almost exclusively wear dresses from March - October and I go with a button up dress in a larger size to allow for space for the wangers and then tie up at the waist to nip me in .. a bit like this one,

@Redebs I haven't tried that one but I don't see why it would.

I have one of the floral deep V dresses - I think! It fits really well. I don't feel as though I have to hide my boobs though really. Just prefer not to be falling out of things.

im 36g size 16. I bought a Lovely Morrison dress last week. Really flattering., sainsburys are worth a look too. I never find anything in asda. M&S have lots. I order loads…. And take most back though! But they are quite roomy. And they do have a lot instore. New look are generous sizes! I’ve not found an everyday dress there but Last year I actually bought long skirts and flared cropped trousers which I loved… as good as a dress!

Pencilsaremylife · 03/05/2023 23:04

I have a few Scarlet and Jo dresses for work and they do a great job of camouflaging my huge frontage that enters a room before the rest of me. Nice weight to the fabric and some have pockets. Some of the patterns even my 80 yr old mum would think frumpy but others are lovely.

IveNCToo where is your pink one from … nice! But I have to pin the seams as buttons gape!

I’m a similar size to you, 34H and a size 16. I’ve had to start working with my frontage instead of trying to pretend it isn’t there. Pour Moi clothes tend to be generous around the top so it gives a better balance. I’ve bought all three colours. Years ago bravissimo used to have a range called Pepperberry which came in curvy or really curvy sizing which was great and I still pick up some stuff on Vinted or eBay - summer tops mainly.

I find the Roman fit and flare ones with slight ruching work well but depending on your height the V might be too low. I’m a shortish 16-18 with 34H bust

But this one is just going to make them look massive!
Well the model in the picture of FairlyCurved (the business owner) has GG cup size, and doesn't look particular booby in that picture. Most days she shows an outfit of the day on Instagram which is really inspiring.
Anyway, dressing large breasts isn't about hiding them, it is making the owner of them feel great.

Redebs · 04/05/2023 01:18

Ah, I presumed OP wanted a more balanced appearance, since she mentioned a breast reduction. I was thinking streamlining rather than bouncy and flouncy. 🤣

sanityisamyth · 04/05/2023 04:00

Bravissimo do great dresses for big boobs. I'm the same size as you OP.

CarpetSlipper · 04/05/2023 08:07

That linked love and roses one at Next does not look like it would accommodate big boobs.
Next do however do some cotton midi dresses with a draw string waist that are nice (but high necked so they make boobs look massive). The draw string waist helps it not look like a tent so you could size up if necessary.

Bravissimo don't do clothes any more, only lingerie and swimwear.

Smallinthesmoke · 04/05/2023 09:23

Yes, Bravissimo jacked in their clothing range except for vests and pyjamas.
A different type of dress for big norks would be something a lot more sack-like, like this
It covers everything, washes well and can be worn with T-shirts or polo underneath to mix it up a bit. A real workhorse of a dress. Size down x2.

Davestwattymissus · 04/05/2023 09:28

Try Ghost. They go up to a size 20, and I find a lot of their styles can be quite flattering for bigger boobs (I'm a 34E on a 12/14). I like the style in the pic attached - I don't have this exact dress but one similar and it fits / hangs really nicely. Anthropologie are also now doing a plus size range in some of their dresses, might be worth a look.

Exactly!

Daftapath · 04/05/2023 10:24

Sorry, that should have been quoting @LocalHobo

haribonoyoudont · 04/05/2023 10:26

As others have said, go for a boat-neck / slash-neck, or V-neck / square / sweetheart neckline. Something empire-line is good, or at least fitted around the bust and waist. It's counterintuitive, but you need to have fitted clothes if you're large of bust, otherwise you'll look like Homer Simpson in a muumuu (unless that's what you're after...). Avoid wrap dresses like the plague.

Ignore the patterns/colour, but something in these styles might suit:

34G/H checking in here - I rely on shirt dresses (with a pin!!), anything made of a somewhat flippy/fluid fabric so it skims the body and hangs well - love anything made of Tencel for instance as it isn't sweaty. Agree with v-neck/sweetheart/square necklines, show off those collarbones and break up too much fabric above the boobs.

I steer far, far away from anything with a high neck (galleon in full sail), anything shirred (milkmaid!), shifts (I look like a barrel) and an empire waist makes me look like Emma Hamilton (as drawn by Hogarth rather than Romney!!)

Best dresses I have are from Seasalt, Nanette Lepore at TK Maxx, M&S and Crew. And my best occasion dress is from Bombshell HQ.

BBNoM · 04/05/2023 11:24

Scoop neck or v-neck are best for large boobs.

I think some wrap dresses can be flattering, if they're not a clingy jersey material they can work well.

motherofcatsandbears · 04/05/2023 11:25

Bravissimo do dresses and other clothes - designed for us more endowed ladies. I have seen them on eBay and Vinted.

GettingStuffed · 04/05/2023 11:27

Also big boobed. I don't really care about whether they're on show or not. Just as long as I can wear a bra under it.
