I'm 45 - wear make up every day but I'm a bit shit at it. I definitely want to start using a better moisturiser.

Just has my eyebrows microbladed so don't need to draw them on anymore!!

At home:
-Cerave face wash
-Cerave moisturiser

In the car:
-No7 primer (need a new one if there's a better suggestion)
-Dior foundation (new to this- it's a bit posh. Recently bought a make up sponge so dab it on with a brush then bash it with the sponge blender)
-No7 bronzer
-No7 blusher
-No7 mascara
-Clinique black honey lippy

I never bother reapplying at work. I always look the same - work / out for drinks 🙈

What's your routine?

Can’t say about your make up routine as I dont wear make up but for skincare, i’d add a toner and serum to your routine 😊

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 01/05/2023 16:41

Pressed send too quickly:
my skin care routine is:

l’occitane face wash
la roche scrub

caudalie toner
vichy serum 89 mineral
vichy Aqualia moisturiser
finish off with laroche spf and caudalie beauty elixir

lopsidedgrin · 01/05/2023 17:34

I'd add an eyeshadow crayon (really easy to apply and blend without needing technique!) just to give a little eye definition and then a spritz of Charlotte Tilbury airbrush setting spray. It's really great for people like us who don't do touch ups!

mrsfennel · 01/05/2023 17:38

Chanel face wash
Murad spf 50

If im wearing make up;
Lancome foundation
Revolution bronzer/blusher
Maybelline eyebrow pencil

Mascara - any, often No 7, black as I can

Lips - usually neutral eg Clarins Natural Lip Perfecter or the opposite Mac Ruby Woo (and more neutral eyes)

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 01/05/2023 19:51

I am surprised at lack of spf in the comments (just genuinely want to know why you arent using), my mom always told me to wear some even in winter to protect my skin…

Wig of the day as I have patchy med-induced alopecia

Nereides · 01/05/2023 19:58

Sunscreen? I use factor 50 every day and top up with a sunscreen spray at lunchtime.

motleymop · 01/05/2023 19:59

In the car?!

mrsfennel · 01/05/2023 19:59

@QueefofSheena is it ok to ask where you buy wigs? I have bought a hair topper and am always looking for new places to buy.

I have hair loss made worse by peri menopause.

Same!

LordEmsworth · 01/05/2023 20:10

Why do you do make up in the car? I need a full mirror, good lighting, and space to put things down.

I often do mine in the car too (timing!) & find it's fine. Light & mirror are better than I have at home.

I don't particularly like doing it as I don't like the car getting make up stuff around it but needs must.

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 01/05/2023 20:18

No7 cleansing lotion, wipe off with pad (and grimace at how mucky my face has got in the night!)
Toner (currently Elemis Apricot, won't repurchase, will buy L'Occitane Immortelle)
No7 vitamin C
SPF 50 Garnier for face

Foundation, alternating between Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue and IT Cosmetics CC cream. Occasionally the utterly foul and bloody expensive Bobbi Brown serum foundation I was hyped into buying (it's like slimy tinted moisturizer)
Clinique Quickliner in blue grey
Mascara - L'Oréal Telescopic at the moment, won't repurchase
Rimmel brown eyebrow pencil.
Rimmel Cloud something or other liquid eyeshadow
Revolution Pro CC powder.

Evening
No7 cleansing balm
Superdrug vit E cleanser
Acid toner every other day
Tret on non acid tone days.
No7 lift and luminate serum
Moisturizer, have Lumen Valo Sleep, Astral, Weleda and a couple of others alternating.

WillowtreeHouse · 01/05/2023 20:26

Cerave face wash
Cerave hyaluronic serum
Cerave spf 50 moisturiser
Amber Solaire facial SPF (50)

No 7 hydraluminous foundation
No 7 cream blush
Maybelline eyebrow pencil
Clinique eye crayon
Maybelline mascara
Whichever lipstick I'm wearing that day.

mdinbc · 01/05/2023 22:05

Mine is relatively simple as well.

Day cream with spf (use diffent brands, mostly L'oreal)
tinted moisturizer - Marcelle
eye crayons - a cream one for lids, dark taupe for liner
mascara - L'oreal Telescopic - love this one!
Eminence powder sunscreen to finish
lippy - I love Clinique Black Honey as well, or Maybelline Superstay lip crayon - these are quite amazing.

@mrsfennel I usually get them from Valentine Wigs. They often have a code. If you follow their Facebook page they run a discount weekly on a Sunday for a different range each week. I like to switch around so I usually buy Rene of Paris/Noriko synthetic wigs, so I wait for their code to roll around when I need to buy. I’m just waiting for a new topper to be delivered, I’ve got one but I’ve struggled with it. The clips aren’t great on bio hair as they can be quite damaging.

declutteringmymind · 01/05/2023 22:45

Zo obagi face wash
Venn age reversing serum
SPF biore aqua if overcast or Heliocare if the sun is out.

If I'm wearing day make up:

Mac concealer
Bobbi brown serum foundation
Hourglass highlighter
Chantecaille bronzer
Bourjois matte eyeshadow
Bobbi brown eyeliner to tightline
Chantecaille mascara.
Carmex on lips.

mrsfennel · 01/05/2023 22:45

@QueefofSheena thank you for your reply. I haven't heard of Valentine wigs so will definitely have a look.

I have a topper from perfect Fringe and whilst it is really good quality the clips do feel quite harsh as I have to pull and stretch it to get it to lie flat.

dudsville · 01/05/2023 22:57

I've lost my makeup routine since the pandemic! I couldn't imagine applying foundation in the car as i need to wash my hands after - but i apply it like face lotion after reading about a professional make up artist doing this , it's so much easier but messy for the hands.

I have dry skin, so my routine reflects this, and except for any makeup and spf my morning and evening routine are identical:

Balm cleanser
Glycolic acid
One or two serums followed by hyaluronic acid
Nightime balm moisturiser as my daytime moisturiser
Spf
Then a little vaseline style balm moisturiser mixed with foundation.
Lip balm. That's it! My hair and clothes get all the attention.

doadeer · 01/05/2023 23:05

I don't wear much make up day to day.

Wash with water
Vit c serum (rotate them)
Ilyoon ceramide cream
Wait 10 mins
Spf 50 (rotate Dr Sam with cheaper ones)
Erborian CC cream
A touch of Jones road on my cheekbones
Laniege lip mask as a gloss
Aromatherapy associates morning revive across my chest

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/05/2023 23:05

Chanel cleansing oil
Inkey List HA serum
Clarins moisturiser

MAC primer
Lisa Eldridge foundation
Glossier Cloud Paint blush
Fenty powder on t-zone
Hourglass illuminating powder - I can’t remember what this is called and am too lazy to walk to the bedroom
Chanel highlighter
Maybelline nude eyeshadow
Bobbi Brown mascara
Benefit brow gel thing
one of a gazillion red lipsticks after breakfast/teeth

My moisturiser has SPF which I know is not sufficient, but I live in the north of Scotland where it is rarely sunny. On a sunny day I do a proper SPF and also have the over-makeup spray to top up.

shortanddumpy · 01/05/2023 23:58

When I can be bothered:

Cerave face wash
Cerave moisturiser (with spf)

KVD primer
Elf concealer
KVD lock-it foundation (if needing full coverage) or No7 hydrating foundation - applied with a brush then blended with sponge
Elf putty bronzer
Elf putty blush

(Both applied with fingers then blended with a buffing brush)
NYX setting powder
Benefit gimme brow
Benefit bad gal bang mascara
NYX setting spray

At night I wash my face with Cerave cleanser then use my skin&me daily doser and Cerave moisturiser
