What to wear to evening wedding in field?

So, the wedding is based in a field, with marquee, fish and chip vans etc- think festival vibe. I'm there from 6:30pm - late, so thinking a dress/heels etc may not be the best. I want to be smart-ish so my camping sweatshirt and joggers may not cut it!

Sounds fun! But easier to make suggestions if we know your size, budget and general style - Free People or Phase Eight?? Shein or Old Town? Boohoo or The Row?

CinnamonJellyBeans · 22/04/2023 09:23

insect repellent.

Itsanotherhreatday · 22/04/2023 09:25

Festival gear? If that’s the theme?

Ask the bride?

Polly291869 · 22/04/2023 09:26

"Wedstock"!

Halfull · 22/04/2023 09:29

A fairly boho maxi and DMs? God I’d love a wedding where it would be acceptable to wear DMs. Lucky you!

CapaciousHag · 22/04/2023 09:37

Ask the bride?

You think the bride should be responsible for creating individual outfits for each guest? Hmm The OP isn’t asking about a dress code - she wants ideas - which is what S&B is for …

Following with interest as am going to something similar soon. When is the wedding OP?

lidolemon · 22/04/2023 10:05

The wedding is June, so there's every chance of good weather or hail 😂

I'm a short size 14 busty top/size 12 bottom and budget not especially a problem, especially if there's every chance I will wear the items again. I don't like maxi style dresses, and I'm not keen on the current 'tier' style dresses (though to be fair, I've never tried one on and it could be the bee's knees) because I think they would make me look larger overall. I tend to wear fit and flare dresses, but I do have to watch that my bust can fit in, without being too large on my bottom half.

I'm at the age where I don't want to be cold and I want to dance easily.

I like the idea of DM's!

Good call, @Halfull

Yes, channel your inner Florence Welch in a floaty maxi but with robust DMs/biker boots (or flat espadrille wedges, if weather dependably dry and sunny).

Assuming wedding will be summer in Britain, though, I'd cover all contingencies by stashing away somewhere long festival wellies and a way of hitching up your trailing hems in a downpour!

Sounds like it'll be a fun one, enjoy.

Polly291869 · 22/04/2023 10:10

Ah, cross-posted!

RandomMess · 22/04/2023 10:12

Layers!!!

Something you can wear a vest under 🤣

Unlikely to be a lovely warm evening in June even if it's been a sunny day.

Polly291869 · 22/04/2023 10:18

Do you have any colour preferences?

mnuser08 · 22/04/2023 10:37

I've been to a couple of festival style weddings and went in a tea dress sort of style ( www.marksandspencer.com/l/women/dresses/fs5/tea-dress) with wedges so I wouldn't sink into the grass but still made me feel dressier with height. Sounds like this would fit your figure great.

gogohmm · 22/04/2023 10:51

I'd go 3/4 length boho rather than maxi in case of mud. Then trainers/converse you don't mind getting dirty with wellies on standby in case it's a mudbath. Raincoat and fleece if in the U.K. as no guarantees and don't forget insect repellent if in the areas prune to biting creatures

CapaciousHag · 22/04/2023 10:54

Oh, the dress linked is the one shown, def. not maxi!

WineIsMyCarb · 22/04/2023 11:02

3/4 length jumpsuit with wedges (plus wellies just in case!)

Jazzy earrings (expect you're too busty for fussy necklaces, like me)

RampantIvy · 22/04/2023 11:12

3/4 length jumpsuit with wedges (plus wellies just in case!)

Best check out the toilet facilities before considering a jumpsuit Grin

anunlikelyseahorse · 22/04/2023 11:23

Long skirt...monsoon off eBay or vinted or similar.
Bodice/ lacy style top
Pashmina/ wrap / shawl as June evenings can be chilly.
Nice brooch to clip to the shawl.
DMs, Chelsea boots or flower printed welly boots for footwear.
You'll look fab.

33goingon64 · 22/04/2023 11:34

It will get cold in the evening, even in June, so have layers to add, one by one.

CapaciousHag · 22/04/2023 11:40

Slight danger of ‘comedy fortune teller’ vibe, @anunlikelyseahorse?

Twinklewonderkins · 22/04/2023 11:45

@CapaciousHag that dress is gorgeous, I have dark red hair so the colour would be perfect for me, currently trying to find an excuse to buy it!

The website is one of my current obsessions!
