Can't decide if these are nice or fugly? I like a wedge, but can't wear heels anymore so thought these might be a wearable compromise. FYI I'm 47 and tend to wear dresses, cropped trousers/jeans and sometimes shorts in the summer

They're OK. Don't love or hate them 🙂

Iwantthepenthouse · 11/04/2023 14:37

I quite like them but wonder if the canvas strap would be comfortable.

SaltyGod · 11/04/2023 14:38

They're perfectly acceptable decent sandals. I like the dark grey colours against the paler brown. They won't turn heads but then not many sandals do.

Flockameanie · 11/04/2023 15:15

Thanks. Yes, they’re not lighting my world on fire either!
I want something comfy and chic/ stylish. Wondering about chunky gladiator sandals instead…

How long are your legs? I have short legs and the ankle strap would make them look even shorter, but if you don't then it's probably fine. They look like functional run arounds, which most of us need!

MiniEggsAllYear · 11/04/2023 15:57

They're inoffensive but I don't love them. Maybe check out Birkenstock Milanos. Same sort of thing but a bit cooler looking.

Viviennemary · 11/04/2023 15:59

They're ok but not very stylish.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/04/2023 16:02

I like them but it would come down to how they feel, as with all sandals (and I can't find any that feel comfortable Sad)

TheChosenTwo · 11/04/2023 16:03

Sorry but I absolutely hate them!!! Fugly shoes are all the rage though and I see loads of people wearing these sorts of things.
I’m not a foot person at the best of times, I don’t own a single pair of sandals and one lonely pair of flipflops for round the pool on holiday but other than that my feet remain covered always 😂
On that note, I don’t believe there is a pair of sandals that exists that I would think were nice so my opinion can be totally disregarded really!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 11/04/2023 16:08

Fugly shoes are all the rage though.

They aren't fugly enough for that tbh.

happystory · 11/04/2023 16:08

I find those cork soles very hard on the feet.....

Greengr · 11/04/2023 16:14

They are ok, not sure about the cork

Greengr · 11/04/2023 16:18

M & S have some that might fit the bill, can't link on App

Greengr · 11/04/2023 16:19

have been browsing at M&S and found this: www.marksandspencer.com/leather-ankle-strap-flat-sandals/p/clp60584749?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share These ones? I’ve had my eye on them but couldn’t decide if they looked a bit cheap (the material)

Or have been browsing at M&S and found this: www.marksandspencer.com/leather-flatform-sandals/p/clp60604622?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share These? which are the other ones I’ve been looking at

I want something comfy and chic/ stylish.

I have yet to find footwear that ticks both those boxes! It's one of the many variations of Sod's Law: If the shoe is comfortable, it is also ugly - and looks ridiculous when worn with a skirt.

MysteryBelle · 11/04/2023 17:01

I don’t think those are very flattering, with the thick straps, just the whole look, on the edge of looking like hiking sandals which I think are hideous. But they look a lot better than that, I just don’t like them much, they’re neither here nor there if that makes sense.

How about something similar to these?

Link isn't working I'm afraid
Think there were 2 styles for £45
Have you looked at Clark's they are often comfortable as are some of Sainsburys with the padded sole.

Aworldofmyown · 11/04/2023 17:08

Yes, there is 'fugly cool' and just 'fugly' 😆
Often tricky to work out which one your in!!

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 11/04/2023 17:09

Ok. Not so ugly they are cool but not pretty.

LlynTegid · 11/04/2023 17:09

Yes with trousers/jeans, not so sure about with dresses.
