To miss the actual shop topshop?

My most favourite clothes I bought were early 2000s topshop. I even went to the Oxford Street one (only been to London twice) and its one of my favourite memories of a shop.
I miss the clothes and style and the atmosphere there so much!

Anyone else?

Hell yes. The Oxford Circus Top Shop was shopping heaven. I can still feel the thrill of going down that escalator.

Lwrenagain · 21/03/2023 08:37

I felt like I was going to bump into Kate moss there and become her BFF.
Shame I was about 14, but it really didn't stop me convincing myself that I was going to join the primrose Hill gang!

Oh yes. There was always the possibility of getting spotted by modelling scouts and becoming a supermodel. The fact I was only 5’3” and covered in acne was not going to stop me.

Chocolatetadpole · 21/03/2023 08:45

Yes I miss Topshop so much so many memories 😩

LolaSmiles · 21/03/2023 08:49

I miss late 90s & early 2000s Topshop. I don't miss it's later years though. It ended up losing its identity and later garments I had seemed to be much poorer quality.

Showersugar · 21/03/2023 09:06

I miss it terribly and used that Oxford St store right up until it closed.

It was a cut above all its contemporaries at the same price point and a lot of the gear I bought then is still going strong now.

hulahoopqueen · 21/03/2023 09:19

God, yes.
Currently 32 weeks and the best and most stylish maternity options are Topshop maternity items I've found on Depop or Vinted.
ASOS are trying but it's just not the same 💔

Floisme · 21/03/2023 09:25

The Top Shop of 2005. yes, in fact I miss the whole UK high street of that era. But it was never going to last.

Being a size 14 didn't stop me either 😂😂

Half my wardrobe items are still Topshop! I still snap it up if I see in a chairlift shop or eBay. Don’t buy new stuff though, the quality and style definitely took a nose dive.

tatteddear · 21/03/2023 09:40

Yes. God I loved topshop Oxford Circus.

I actually got scouted in Oxford St Topshop when I was about 17 🤣

It's the only Topshop I'd say I "miss" though, it was quite ahead of its time making shopping an experience. Every other one was just a shop 🤣

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 21/03/2023 11:41

Yeah, I came up the escalator at Oxford Circus last weekend, and felt a pang that it's not there, as a reminder of my youth.

Appleblum · 21/03/2023 11:42

Me too! Topshop and Miss Selfridge... so much fun memories!

The Oxford Circus store was such a big part of my 20s. I’m actually devastated it’s gone and that I can’t take a future daughter or niece there 😭

Yup, every time 💔

dying here at 'chairlift' shop! Grin

Architectahoy · 21/03/2023 12:32

Same! Comfortable clothes and nice shapes.

I work in a male dominated industry and it was easy to find sensible neutral androgynous clothes that looked sort of edgy with a touch of feminine for thr office.

Loved it!

I just noticed I spelt charity shop as chairlift shop 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

SparklingLime · 21/03/2023 12:56

It was everything. I blame that old bollock, Phillip Green, for trashing it.

LadyHenrique · 21/03/2023 13:16

The most depressing thing of all is what took over and seems to have replaced it.
In my old home town where our amazing TS store was located, only a shitty, tired New Look remains. Around the corner a massive empty store displays a collection of Poundland's 'Pep' clothes range amongst dust and litter.

There's a Primark, Pep, and a New Look. It's pretty much dead. In fact I'd rather it would all just fully die instead of seeing these cheap, grubby fingers desperately sticking up out of the grave that was previously my old town.

nicetoseetgesunsout · 21/03/2023 14:25

I loved that store when I was in my teens and 20s. I had everything. Such a shame. I'm in my 50s now and it's sad that my daughter hasn't been able to have that shopping experience - she buys on line exclusively.
I bunked off school once and enjoyed an afternoon there with my best friend.

cornflakegeneration · 21/03/2023 14:37

I agree. Even in my forties I still like quite a bit of their stuff.

The Oxford Circus store was like being a kid in a sweet shop. Amazing place. I used to love shopping - it was like a hobby to me and the marching from store to store was good cardio! I feel really sad when I go shopping now though. I took myself into our nearest city and the Main Street was just full of a load of tat. Used to be a really exciting place to go with three different department stores - now all closed down. Sad times.

yippeeee · 21/03/2023 14:40

I miss that store so much! It was shopping heaven in my teens and 20's. We used to have Topshop as our meeting spot and head down to what used to be Virgin Megastore in Tottenham Court Road and hang out there listening to music.

cornflakegeneration · 21/03/2023 14:40

I really hope the high street makes a resurgence one day 🙏🏼
