what about this in black?

Could you jazz it up with a fab necklace and killer heels? Very flattering I reckon, no matter what size.

schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:12

very nice maidamess - would I look matronly though? D'you reckon the accessories would stop that?

OP posts:
schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:13

and thank you btw!

This is a very flattering shape but is a bit dull colour-wise imo.

Maidamess · 11/02/2008 21:16

this is a lovely shape You could wear a little shrug cardi thing over the top if arms a prob. (hope the shop is ok!)

louii · 11/02/2008 21:16

What about something like this,
simplybeuk.drct2u.com/productcache/DAL/BO6400/QB197DX.html.gz

Maidamess · 11/02/2008 21:17

With that first dress, get some fab high shoes, opaque black tights and either long dangly earrings or a gorgeous necklace.

fishie · 11/02/2008 21:18

when is the party, soon? what are others going to wear, do you really want to do black in the afternoon? sounds a bit of a peculiar event you'll all be legless by teatime.

Maidamess · 11/02/2008 21:18

Don't go too eveningy, it is an afternoon thing?

louii · 11/02/2008 21:18

or "Thissimplybeuk.drct2u.com/productcache/DAL/BO6400/LB244DX.html.gz"

PTA · 11/02/2008 21:18

Does it have to be a dress? How about wide legged trousers, killer heels and a sparkly top. I've got a nice twin-set type thing which is a black vest with black sequins around the neck and hem and an edge-to-edge cardigan with same sequins in three rows down the front. It came from Wallis but that was a while ago.

If cost is an issue, try New Look. Quality not great on some stuff but I've got a couple of nice pairs of trousers which have worn well.

schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:21

thanks - everyone. They are all nice but like the length of the one louii linked to as my legs are awful!

PTA - dont suppose it has to be a dress as long as it is 'dressy'!

OP posts:
schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:24

maidamess - yes worried about the day/evening thing!

Fishie - it is weird isnt it!!??

OP posts:
louii · 11/02/2008 21:24

The website with the dresses i linked to has some pretty nice stuff for the larger lady, I am an 18 with massive norks and dodgy legs so i know the hassle to get nice fitting stuff.

PTA · 11/02/2008 21:27

As I said, black wide legged trousers (whisper it but mine at the moment are from Asda!!!) and I have a pair of red tartan killer heels which counters the black nicely.

schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:28

ooh love the tartan PTA - am scottish and living in England! Where'd you get them?

schneebly i have been looking at your pics (delightful boys) and you are not going to look your best wearing black in spring daylight. what is the dress code for men, lounge suit? anyway i think go more garden party with a cardie than lbd.

schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:31

califrau - love your dress! I have about a month by the time I get paid. How long would shipping take do you think and would I get charged loads from customs?

OP posts:
schneebly · 11/02/2008 21:32

hmm fishie - garden party! I think you may be right!

Actually I agree with fishie...navy or a nice pattern would be better for a daytime do.

PTA · 11/02/2008 21:38

I'm afraid the shoes are also ancient (just like me!!!). I got them in Faith about 7 or 8 years ago. However I did want another pair for my wedding and if you take I think it was about a metre and a half of tartan material to people who do wedding shoes, they can make them for you.

Lulumama · 11/02/2008 21:40

oi, madam, i have clothes ! a lovely stretchy anna scholz 2 piece!! come and try it ....
and did you get my message re carpet shampooer ?
