What should I do with my hair (with pic)

Going to get a haircut tomorrow and I am going to end up doing my usual shrug when they ask what I want done and end up with a basic trim.

It’s very thick, somewhat wavy. Has a tendency to grow into a triangle shape because it gets weighed down at the roots but thick and wavy at the ends. I’m very low effort with hair, no interest in spending time on styling.

What should I do with it?

Go mad and have a French bob. It'll grow back if you hate it 🙂

AmongstTheCosmos · 25/02/2023 16:10

I agree - go short. You have beautiful hair.

Timide · 25/02/2023 16:12

Leave as is. Short hair needs styling otherwise looks rubbish most of the time

Treetopviews · 25/02/2023 16:12

stay long, it’s lovely hair. Get some very long layers and a very long fringe.

JoanJettsMullet · 25/02/2023 16:12

Ooh, I’d go for a long fringe and layers a la this pic

Get a fringe. Before I went to the airport, well in advance I'd have my outfit ready, read a book or a couple of magazines and have a leisurely coffee and people watch

UnbearableLoss · 25/02/2023 16:14

Your hair looks the same length, thickness and colour as mine OP and I have this dilemma all the time.

I've gone short and hated the styling so done it badly. Tried a fringe, grown it out, tried again, grown it out.

Next I'm trying a colour so it's different but without needing to style anymore!

Fallulah · 25/02/2023 16:14

I was going to say embrace the curl but then you said you want low effort, so not that!

You need layers if you don’t want a triangle.

TomatoSandwiches · 25/02/2023 16:14

A Bob just under your chin would look lovely but it would need sometime in the morning to look its best.

For lower day to day maintenance i would get a fringe cut and a shaggy layered look to just below your shoulders, some caramel colour in there or possibly honey tones.

Belindabobtail · 25/02/2023 16:16

A bob will ‘triangle’ it and I think you’ll regret it. Stock MN answers for long lovely hair are either ‘bob’, ‘layers’ or ‘pixie’.
Just no!

Actually I love this! Do this!

What else is there though?!

I used to have v short hair and to go through a bob stage to grow it out, and it was hideous. I looked like Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men

I’d go for an Italian bob

Mumsanetta · 25/02/2023 16:35

Not remotely Bardem-esque 😂

🤣🤣🤣 i looked like early days Justin Bieber growing mine out & will never have short hair again!

op if you want low maintenance don’t go short!

Hatehairdressers · 25/02/2023 17:00

I mean I guess there’s a difference between a deliberately cut bob and one that’s a product of growing out short hair. But I am still sceptical.

I like the idea of a fringe, but not sure I’d like the reality of a fringe. Surely a fringe is effort?

Have a good trim and splash out on a Dyson Airwrap with the smoothing brush, it is miraculous LOL.

Lol at the idea that this would work with OP's lack of interest in spending any time on styling!

This is a lovely, but high maintenance, look!

Whitney168 · 25/02/2023 17:06

(And I am the least interested person you're likely to find in 'styling', but this is quick and easy that for the first time in my 50+ years, my hair always looks nice!)

@Hatehairdressers

if you want a change and any kind of style you will have to put some effort in op!

if you can’t be bothered then just have a trim

I guess if it were shorter it would take less time to dry, so maybe I’d be more up for it. It does just an age to attempt any real styling. At the hairdressers they often end up getting two or three people involved in drying it!
