I have some s&b type goals for next year and am trying to do it on a bit of a budget...

I'm turning 40 next year and want to be looking and feeling a bit better by then

  1. I'm doing a long stint of no booze after new year and I assume I will be GLOWING after this 😂 (obviously this is free of charge and may actually save me some money)

  2. I am going to see an orthodontist about my overcrowded teeth

  3. I'm going to try and stay on top of my beauty bits and pieces; skincare, nails, hair removal etc

  4. Finally, I'm going to join the (inexpensive) gym near me (and actually go)

Great idea for a thread!

  1. Yoga every week
  2. Track my outfits on an app so I can see what is getting worn and what isn’t
  3. Stop impulse purchases (especially on Vinted) - just because it’s a bargain doesn’t mean I need it!
Brogues · 16/12/2022 18:33

Upping my WFH game - I’m not in joggers or anything but don’t look as good as I could. Summer was good but winter is a bit meh.

Continue spending less on better quality/things with better eco credentials. I tried 22 in 22 this year and it wasn’t so tough so will try that again.

Sort out my hair. It looks okay but seems to be loosing a little something as I age but not sure what direction I want to take yet.

LillyLeaf · 16/12/2022 18:41

I'm terrible for buying a beauty thing and not sticking to it. Eg Ziip, laser hair removal, teeth whitening, I'm sure there's more. I really need to set aside time to do these things as I know they work. And keep on top of brow tint and shape as it does wonders for me. Also want to get in shape and tone up more (DS is 2.5 years old, so can't use pregnancy as an excuse anymore).

Oh my look after my hand more, my work wrecks them.

threeowlsonashelf · 16/12/2022 18:50

Ok so I have never really come back to a stylish life after lockdowns. My goal for the first three months is back to basics by which I really mean basics - daily showers, getting dressed, not wearing pyjamas all day. The cold weather is not helping me here...

Falalalalaaah · 16/12/2022 18:53

The cold has not been helping me either. Especially when I get up in the morning and it's freezing cold, even with the heat on! Although I'm happy to get in the shower as at least it's hot in there 😂

I’m also 39 40 next year and my goals are:

-take better care of my teeth- I hate brushing my teeth, I hate toothpaste, it doesn’t feel nice it feels horrible and therefore I don’t take the best care of them. I see a hygienist every 6 months without fail but I really want a proper daily “care” routine beyond brushing. when my mental health dips, my regime suffers even more.

-be brave and get Botox again. I had it in the summer, loved the results, but I had a minor panic attack after it and I have associated the two even though they weren’t related in any way.

-lose 23lb (ish) in 2023 through clean eating and exercise. I’ve done it before and I know it works for me. I’m also doing dry January +

  • just generally take time to look after myself. I put make up on today and it reminded me how much better I feel. I have good skin, a nice figure, nice hair- but I neglect myself and wallow in it a bit. Things like wearing makeup, moisturising properly, doing my hair not just tying it up, getting proper sleep and early nights…. More of that in 2023!

Microblading. I've wanted it for years now.

TheRedLip · 16/12/2022 19:30

This year I finally had my brows microbladed and had my teeth professional whitened and it was the best beauty money I've spent in years. Next year I intend to start having regular CACI treatments to halt the dreaded jowls appearing. I'm also determined to lose the naughty 10lbs which crept up on me this year.

underthemike · 16/12/2022 20:21

Lose that stone which prevents me wearing all my nice clothes!

I'm thinking of tear-trough fillers because I look fairly youthful (like everyone on MN, tis the law) but I think these make me look permanently knackered (I mean, I am permanently knackered, but I don't want to look it!)

I have my eye on a couple of things (Ganni) that I'm hoping will be in the sales, and some new trainers, and then that's me done until summer.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/12/2022 20:54

I'm pregnant right now, and as soon as this baby is out I will be:

  1. Back on the tretinoin.
  2. Maybe if tret isn't up to the job, getting botox for the first time
  3. Actually sticking to a tooth whitening regime
Tallulasdancingshoes · 16/12/2022 21:17

I want to sort out my coats. None of them seem to fit particularly well and I never seem to have the right type of coat for different occasions. I need more coats.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 16/12/2022 21:28

I really want to find some nice black boots. I really struggle with boots.

TheOGCCL · 17/12/2022 10:06

To buy fewer clothes and accessories, I really do have enough but then I end up getting bored.

Bbq1 · 17/12/2022 10:10

To finally lose a lot of weight caused by pregnancy and ill health. I want to feel healthier and look better but the push is we are going to LA in July and I definitely am going to be slim again for that. The key for me is planning ahead and calories counting. I'll set the date I'm starting too.

Tootyfilou · 17/12/2022 10:17

Big birthday in April.
Lose another stone
Botox
Ensure I keep up my rowing routine
Have consolidated my wardrobe over the last year and finally feel happy with my look! Lots of saving for lovely pieces and lucky Ebay finds.
Teeth whitening.

Microblading. I've wanted it for years now.

Best money i spent in 2022, really happy with the results

Tintime2022 · 17/12/2022 10:20

Operate a one in one out policy for clothes

Calphurnia88 · 17/12/2022 11:19

Avoid buying new as much as possible, and any new purchases must be good quality and something that will be loved and used for years.

GettingStuffed · 17/12/2022 12:11

Mines a combination of style and health. I need to lose weight for health reasons and really appeal to those of you who are overweight to lose the extra weight before they end up where I am. Type 2 diabetic, with high cholesterol, high blood pressure fatty liver and chronic kidney disease.

Once I lose weight the symptoms of these should ease but due to my own self sabotage I'll always need medication.

Gufo · 17/12/2022 12:22

Kondo my wardrobe and come up with a uniform to make getting dressed every day easy.

Bumblebeefriend · 17/12/2022 12:56

Oops my link didn't attach, its a thread in classics:

What are your style and beauty plans for 2023?
Bumblebeefriend · 17/12/2022 13:04

I give up, the title is:
Thanks to S & B I'm finally winning in the pursit of elegance

Falalalalaaah · 17/12/2022 14:00

I remember that thread @Bumblebeefriend. It's such a good idea.

I'm tempted by the microblading now it's been talked about in here, but it is £££

This thread looks a great read (with a cuppa and a sleeping baby... Wishful thinking 😅). What items have you purchased so far and where from?
