How often do you have your hair cut and coloured?

I think I'll have a higher frequency response by posting in style and beauty than if I posted elsewhere but still, how often do you get your hair cut and coloured?

I used to be on a 10-12 week cycle of foils and cut which has reduced to 6-8 week cycle but due to increasing costs I'm thinking of stretching it out again.

Wondering what the norm is around here?

Every 6 months. Just the balayage though.

10-12 weeks. It depends on the colour though, I have balayage with a root smudge close to my natural colour and no greys so can get away with it. I have balayage done every other appointment and just a root touch up in between.

I stopped colouring this year and growing out my grey. I used to do every 6 weeks when my hair was a very coppery red. Then I went brunette and had it done every 4 weeks. It was also quite short then so needed regular trims.

My hair is longer now (shoulder length) and I just have it trimmed as and when. I am having it done on Saturday. Then the next time I get it done will be to cut the rest of the colour out, so will wait maybe 3/4 months.

One of the reasons I decided to grow the grey out was the cost and time it was taking to keep up to it. Personally, I would try and drag it out as long as I could between visits.

Posted too soon- however a very light colour if you're naturally dark, or a dark colour if you have a lot of greys will need touching up more frequently

I have short hair which grows out of style quickly so have it cut every 6 weeks.
I colour my own hair with a box dye (can't afford salon prices) which is getting more frequent as the greys are appearing at an alarming rate (and I'm not ready to embrace grey hair just yet)

I used to be every six weeks but I have stretched it to every seven weeks. I also alternate foils.

  1. foils, roots colour, toner and cut
  2. root colour, toner and cut

Haircut every six months or once a year. Depends on how long it gets.

Colour, none. I don’t have any grey hair, and haven’t done highlights since my 20s. My hair is in good nick.

I go to the hairdresser about 5 times a year. I get quite a lot cut off so I don’t have to go back within ten minutes and don’t usually have the same style so I’m not maintaining anything in particular. I do my own colour at home, with mixed results but again that doesn’t stay the same each time.

About 3 times a year, maybe 4!

I have dark hair and the greys are starting to show though, not enough to go cold turkey though (tried during lockdown)I so my amazing hairdresser has given me various highlights/lowlights that blend really well with the grey and my natural colour so there is no obvious line of regrowth - I did point out she's doing herself out of more custom from me but as I said, she's lovely

Stopped colouring my hair years ago. Get it cut maybe every 6 months?

I have a mobile hairdresser for foils every 3 months. I then apply crazy colour over the top, and repeat monthly (topping up my dark brown roots as needed).

I visit a different hairdresser for the cut, around half way between foils.

My hair is my thing. :)

Whole head of foils every 8 weeks (blonde). Cut maybe twice a year,my hair is longish.

I have a mobile hairdresser so it’s cheaper.

Cut about every three to four months. Colour I do at home around three months or when the roots look appalling. I have wavy thick hair just above my shoulders.

I get it cut, but not coloured, every three months or so. Thick, blonde, very wavy/curly hair. Shoulder length.

Coloured - never. Cut 2-3 times a year.

I've stretched out to 10 weeks and I buy the professional colour and do my roots once in between.

Used to have roots every 5 weeks but had to stretch to 6 weeks due to cost . In Covid started to grow out the grey but not ready to go fully grey. I am a much lighter colour and have foils , to blend in the grey , about every 8 weeks but will stretch this if I can’t afford it .

Get mine trimmed every 2 months.

I decided a year ago to stop getting mine coloured. I’ve had greys since my 20’s and 20 years of a trip to the hairdresser every 8 weeks (plus the cost) was getting really tedious.

I looked around and realised that men don’t have to bother with it so why should I? I’ve had a few wobbles, but now like it. Its more grey around the front than the sides and back. I wish more women would embrace their grey so that I don’t feel like such a freak show!

Sorry, missing the point of the thread, but please let’s have more grey women 😁

Coloured, never. Cut approx once every four years. My last hair cut was in late 2017 and it could do with doing again.

This came up in active, rather than me searching style and beauty.
Hair cut every 4-5 months.
Never coloured.

@DoubleYolker I'm going grey. Currently sporting a great white streak over one temple... hope that one evens out soon!

Don't colour it
Cut every 6-9 months but I dust the ends regularly at home

I get it cut every 8 weeks, I used to get it coloured (highlights) every 8 weeks too, but try and get the colour done a bit less often now because it was affecting the condition of my hair - which is crappy fine hair that breaks easily. I have highlights that are only slightly lighter than my natural hair colour (I'm quite fair anyway).
