How often do you have your hair cut and coloured?

I think I'll have a higher frequency response by posting in style and beauty than if I posted elsewhere but still, how often do you get your hair cut and coloured?

I used to be on a 10-12 week cycle of foils and cut which has reduced to 6-8 week cycle but due to increasing costs I'm thinking of stretching it out again.

Wondering what the norm is around here?

Cut every 7 weeks, highlights to blend in the grey every other visit, so every 14 weeks. A bit expensive but I economise elsewhere because it makes me feel more put together. When my grey comes in it's ugly yellowy grey rather than that lovely silvery or salt-and-pepper, plus the texture is different, and I'm just not ready to reckon with that.

I dye mine myself (which I know people say to never do, but meh, it's worked out fine for me)

I have an above the shoulder length Bob, so have it cut quite regularly. Every 6 weeks at least

@MollyRover from Google A root smudge is a technique used specifically to blur lines of demarcation. It involves applying a color formula close to the client's roots, and then “smudging” it into the shaft of the hair. This creates a softer transition between the root and the lightened hair.

Cut and colour every 5 weeks. I have a high maintenance colour that fades quickly and my hair grows fast too.

ItWasntMyFault · 09/12/2022 10:38

I have it cut every 7 weeks but I never dye it. My naturally blonde hair is just streaked with silver, white and a little bit of grey. The white streaks seem to be the ones that are taking over.

Swissnotswiss · 09/12/2022 10:39

Cut every six weeks. I don't have it coloured.

maranella · 09/12/2022 10:43

Every 8-10 weeks I have highlights (alternate half and full head), cut and style. I'd like to get it done regularly every 8 weeks, but by stretching it by an extra week or two each time it means I get it done four or five times a year, rather than six and it's ridiculously expensive (I live near London).

Nottodaty · 09/12/2022 10:45

I try to stretch out the colour to 3 months - inbetween I have the cut (also 3 months) with a root top up - just a quick bit on the temples so I can wear it up!
So every six weeks something happens to the roots !

i would love to embrace the grey and tried over lockdown but I have curly hair and it’s just looked awful 😞 I should have it done more often but can’t afford it

newtb · 09/12/2022 10:46

A cut once every 6 months or so. Gave up colouring 5 years ago as couldn't afford 80€+ a time.

mintdaisy · 09/12/2022 10:49

Cut and coloured every 8-10 weeks. I used to do it less frequently but I have found a really good hairdresser and I guess prioritise it over new clothes, etc as it makes me feel so much better about myself having freshly done hair.

ErinAoife · 09/12/2022 10:51

Cut every 6 weeks as my hair grow very fast and color my hair myself every 6 weeks

Get mine trimmed every 2 months.

I decided a year ago to stop getting mine coloured. I’ve had greys since my 20’s and 20 years of a trip to the hairdresser every 8 weeks (plus the cost) was getting really tedious.

I looked around and realised that men don’t have to bother with it so why should I? I’ve had a few wobbles, but now like it. Its more grey around the front than the sides and back. I wish more women would embrace their grey so that I don’t feel like such a freak show!

Sorry, missing the point of the thread, but please let’s have more grey women 😁

I agree - I have found people are so uncomfortable with it. I mention about being grey, oh you aren't grey - err yes I am , i'm not fishing for compliments, I know I am grey. Someone asked to describe me said blonde - again I'm grey, I have noticed ! Saw an old colleague last week - oh you've gone gr... - err lighter. No I am grey. It seems to be a bit akin to using fat as a descriptive word!

Franticbutterfly · 09/12/2022 16:06

Every other month. Colour and cut.

spuddel · 09/12/2022 16:11

Used to have it cut and coloured every 12 weeks or so. During lockdown realised I preferred it long and un-done. Still have a bit of colour left and it looks beachy and natural. Probably go in the spring for a trim and get the rest of the colour cut out. Cannot be faffed with salons and my neck absolutely aches after two trips to the washing basins.

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 09/12/2022 23:02

Coloured every 5 weeks... dark hair dyed back to my previous natural colour and very grey underneath! Grew some out during lockdowns and hated it. Hairdresser colour looks so much nicer on me than box dye. Cut every 4 months except fringe which is trimmed when I get it coloured (boob length hair).

allboysherebutme · 09/12/2022 23:29

8 weeks. X

Berlinlover · 09/12/2022 23:34

Colour - every six weeks
Cut - every 3 or 4 months

IncessantNameChanger · 10/12/2022 00:04

12 weekly balayage but i dont really go anywhere since covid except walking, coffees etc so im going to do every six months with a redish colour rather than my normal blond on brown hair. It will be more subtle. Unless it's down and straighten you can really tell the difference in a few extra weeks.

Looloo278 · 10/12/2022 00:11

Cut once a year, sometimes a longer gap, and don’t get a colour. Im in my 40’s and have started getting silver streaks but I’m just going to brave it out. Would look a bit odd if I suddenly started colouring my hair 🤣

SocksAndTheCity · 10/12/2022 00:27

Esalon colour at home every six weeks or so - I don't have grey and it's not a drastic colour change so I can stretch that a bit if I don't have time. I've had one of their balayage kits lying about for months so I ought to get on with that.

I cut the ends off with the kitchen scissors when they get thin and ratty looking, and that does me. My hair is long and wavy with layers though, so I can get away with it.

DramaAlpaca · 10/12/2022 00:32

Cut every six weeks, highlights every three months.
