M&S 12 days of Sparks - it's back!

Can't see a thread, please correct me if I'm wrong.

M&S has brought back its 12 days of Sparks offers. It was notoriously bad last year, but day 1 and I have a free hand cream to pick up in store. Not sure if I'll get the chance, but seems a stronger start than last year at least.

Even late last night it said there would be a reward tomorrow. The calendar has vanished and no sign of a reward.

bigTillyMint · 13/12/2022 10:29

I just found my golden reward of 30% off decorations! It was on the sparks - new offers, just incase others haven’t looked there and don’t want to miss it 🤣

RockaLock · 13/12/2022 10:46

@bigTillyMint same for me - it's appeared within the last hour or so.

30% off decorations as well. That's not a "golden reward". That's M&S trying to shift all their Christmas decorations ConfusedHmm

ImprobablePuffin · 13/12/2022 10:47

Mrcpy · 13/12/2022 08:26

Some of these posts are a bit harsh! M&S doesn’t owe you anything. The online advent calendar is a bit of fun. L’occitane does one too, with a similar scale of discounts, and I’m sure many other brands too. It’s just a sales tactic. Lower your expectations!

Yes I do see your point but if a very large company advertises that there is a 'golden' reward coming out way on day 13 then they should bloody well honour it. No one wants anything more than what has been advertised

longtompot · 13/12/2022 10:47

The holiday link has now gone from my sparks and there is no day 13 golden ticket. I have 10 offers in my sparks account.
No, they don't owe us anything, and my expectations were very much at the bottom, but if you say you are going to offer rewards then they really should honour that.

Battlecat98 · 13/12/2022 10:51

My golden award has arrived. £5 off £40 when I buy clothes.

Stressmess · 13/12/2022 11:08

My golden award has arrived too! 30% off Christmas decorations. Hardly worth the wait and I'll not be using it. I would have used the £5 off a £40 spend as I have been holding on to get my DH clothes for Christmas.

LookItsMeAgain · 13/12/2022 11:32

It's arrived for me too.

30% of Christmas Decorations.

Now I already got a 20% off Christmas Decorations as part of the 12 days and I'm not planning to use it. Why oh why oh why do they think giving me an extra 10% on top of that will make me want to go out and buy more Christmas decorations.

This has been a complete and utter swizz Marks & Spencer. With all of the information you've gathered from me over the past 12 months via the Sparks card (so you know what I've bought and where I shop and how I shop), these were not "personalised offers based on the things you love" (which is the first description under the Sparks card in order to get people to sign up to it).

Complete and utter swizz.

Well done to those who shop in M&S who got either hand cream or bottles of Prosecco or bottles of Gin.
You were the chosen ones this year.

Eaumyword · 13/12/2022 11:32

My golden reward is drumroll 30% off decorations!
The only thing free was a Percy Pig bauble. I get you can't expect free stuff and it's luck of the draw, but it was so bigged up, I suppose I was hoping for a gin or something nice free like others got. I do spend lots with them as well.
Oh well, small mercies, at least we didn't get Gary Barlow at the piano this year 😂

ChessieFL · 13/12/2022 11:35

There’s nothing in my new offers section.

LBB2020 · 13/12/2022 11:37

My golden reward is free Sparks days out access?! Says I will receive an email later today

darisdet · 13/12/2022 11:46

'Golden reward' has now appeared. Free sparks days out access. Discounts on cinema trips and days out.

I'm already signed up to that, and have been for some time. Didn't find much available locally, or further afield, so haven't used it. 🤔

TangledBlue · 13/12/2022 11:53

Free Sparks Days Out access... what a load of rubbish. I thought the 30% off Christmas decorations was bad, now I'd quite like to swap to that.

Someaddedsugar · 13/12/2022 11:54

The 30% off decorations is useless as you can't use it on half the things they have listed under decorations 🙄

FlySwimmer · 13/12/2022 11:55

@LBB2020 @darisdet i got the same. No idea what it is…

OneFrenchEgg · 13/12/2022 12:26

Yes. So many of these schemes and I wonder what the catch is. Current t and c is £35 spend and three months access.

darisdet · 13/12/2022 12:47

That's why I was offered free access! I didn't realise there was a minimum spend.

funnelfanjo · 13/12/2022 12:53

I too have sparks day out thing. No idea what it is.

on the off chance that anyone from M&S is reading this, this whole event was poor. If your get me to sign up for a loyalty scheme (aka mine my shopping habit for data), then the rewards are usually straightforward points and/or money off vouchers. Waitrose and Boots spring to mind. You even do it with the rewards on the M&S credit card. This event raised expectations and then crashed them. My opinion of the sparks scheme is now less than what it would have been had you not done this event at all. A straightforward voucher for £x off a £y spend on anything or a small free gift for everyone like the hand cream, or a roll of wrapping paper, or some chocs or biscuits that you have in stock, would have got me in the shop to spend on other things.

CointreauVersial · 13/12/2022 12:59

My Golden reward was also Free Sparks Days Out Access. No idea what that is, but it sounds a bit rubbish.

A disappointing 12 days, to be honest. Strong start, with a free tube of hand cream on Day One to keep me interested, but then just a load of niche 20% off vouchers (socks, anyone?). Xmas Hmm

AntiqueCestChic · 13/12/2022 13:00

Ugh I already have that sparks days out thing - got it for free when I spent over a certain amount a few months ago.

So the golden reward is pretty crap for me because I already have it!

Never used it either as there's nothing near to me in the offer.

JulesJules · 13/12/2022 13:24

Ah my Golden Reward has landed, yes 30% off Xmas decs.

I'm annoyed about them calling this a "Golden Reward" as if it was going to be something special or an actual treat.

The whole offer this year has been dismal. My only freebie was the Percy Pig plush decoration which has never been in stock, and the rest random discounts on things.

I think as a marketing exercise it's been a real failure.

Lookingformymarbles · 13/12/2022 13:25

A PP is right in that M&S don't owe us anything but most of the 'treats' are not really treats in that offers are available elsewhere or out of stock with no replacement. Also sounds like there are too many variables so getting extra stock isn't viable. Bit of a damp squib really.

I did pop into M&S earlier to use the beauty discount, sadly I couldn't find any prices for a number ranges or a member of staff to ask anywhere so left it. Also no prices on the shortbread tins so didn't bother with that either.

My golden ticket is £5 discount on clothes & beauty from 1st Jan (£40 spend)

longtompot · 13/12/2022 14:46

My golden ticket is free days out. Except, they aren't free, unless you are or have children. They are just some money off. Rather the 30% off decorations tbh. Or the £5 off £40 spent on clothes.

Madlymumming · 13/12/2022 14:50

I also have 'free' days out etc. expect there are no offers available within a 50 mile radius. Very not impressed.

funnelfanjo · 13/12/2022 15:10

i can’t look at what sparks pass is about without signing up to the website. Is it the kind of thing where you get 2-4-1 tickets, or money off entry at off peak times? Like meerkat offers? Also note it’s “powered by kids pass” so would it be a leap to think it wouldn’t be very useful for a childless person?
