Sorry I meant I like it better than this years! Excited

Stokey · 29/11/2022 07:58

We're very close to the finish line now. Unbeknownst to me, DH had bought several random calendars too so we're now swimming in advent. He bought a jam one, a spice one and a crossword one, I've got JL and Fenwick's, eldest DD has Make-up Revolution and DD2 has a homemade one. I feel slightly appalled at our consumerism!

Offset it with a no-spend for a while. You’ve probably saved a good amount. :)

AprilLady · 29/11/2022 08:47

@Stokey a crossword one? Tell me more.

Peridot1 · 29/11/2022 08:51

I hope you manage to get it all sorted @Zeeza. It just goes to show how careful we need to be. And how easy it is to be scammed.

I was very tempted by the Bonne Maman jam one but baulked at the postage costs. May have another look to see if its reduced further.

Lookingformymarbles · 29/11/2022 09:14

We've just paid a hefty deposit for a kitchen reno, then I learned my place of work is closing down in January so what did I do? Ordered a JL advent calendar that's what! I figured I need cheering up and that will help.

I've been on these thread in previous years (under different names) and really looking forward to the unboxing especially as I've completely forgotten most of what's in there.

I've been keeping a weather eye on various other AC's, obviously not as much take up this year unsurprisingly.

Passmeaplacard · 29/11/2022 09:35

@Stokey if it makes you feel better we have Nespresso, Degusta, Liberty, Whisky, JL, Chocolate ones and a Peppa Pig book one for our 2 year old
in our defence the Liberty and Whisky ones are our Christmas presents to each other

Pinenu · 29/11/2022 09:43

I have a confession that can only be made here.

My partner asked for a beard and hair oil for Christmas. He’s normally a bar of soap and all in one shampoo conditioner kind. I previously got him a nice skincare set but he didn’t use it because it had too many instructions.

So anyway I was looking for some hair oil on CB last night and found the hair care edit. It comes with an oil and 8 other items, all worth £180+. At £28 it seemed a bargain so I got it and plan to wrap up the oil and keep the other items for myself 😶

PomRuns · 29/11/2022 09:51

Great buy @Pinenu

In the Pom house we have:
JL
LiB
4x chocolate
Harry Potter bits and bobs one for DD
lego marvel for DS
DH has a homemade one (books/cds/ choc/shower gels).

I feel like another may appear if any last minute good offers.

clary · 29/11/2022 10:05

Oh if we're confessing @PomRuns @Stokey @Pinenu we have:
CB
Liberty
JLP (for Feb or march)
Degusta (dh)
H&B (dd)
Niven (bargain half price fir ds2)
Pokemon (ds1)
And 3 x chocolate ones for the dc too (the youngest is 19 fgs)

Peridot1 · 29/11/2022 10:09

We only have one. My JL one. Last year I got DH a whisky one for his November birthday but haven’t this year. And got DS a chocolate one but he didn’t eat it - he’s 21. Also got the Degustabox but still have some stuff left from it so didn’t want it again.

InfinityOrUndefined · 29/11/2022 10:12

We have
H&B
Bodyshop but some of the bits go to SIL's Bodyshop hamper
Two big chocolate bar calendars from my home country for dc
Yet to come two basic chocolate calendars from my parents to dc

I am planning to one more calendar preferably Harrods or F&M. If not possible then I might go for a cheaper one.

CountryCob · 29/11/2022 10:13

In a two parent one child family we have; 1 sweets one and 2 chocolates, Degusta box, Smiggle beauty, homemade toys one, LinB if it arrives and Debenhams (niche choice but I like the items in it). There would be more if the price was right, would have got Selfridges if in stock. If this looks virtuous it is worth mentioning that the LinB is the gwp one, I have 2 Sephora Christmas edits already on the go have have ordered the Caite mystery beauty box. So about 2 adverts worth of stealth purchases there….

Pinenu · 29/11/2022 10:15

You all make me feel better.

LiB is back up to £199 on TikTok. Still no reductions from CB. I guess people could order for next day delivery and have it in time for Dec 1st so they might be targeting last minute buyers.

Zoetrope1 · 29/11/2022 10:17

Zeeza · 28/11/2022 21:58

Oh no. Just had a look at my tiktok purchase of a look fantastic calendar from a third party. They've closed their shop. Does that mean what I think it means?

Oh no Zeeza! I hope it arrives and if not, that you can dispute via TikTok or your bank!

Zoetrope1 · 29/11/2022 10:20

I’m also surprised CB hasn’t discounted further on their website, or at least offer the goody bag with it!

Responding to your earlier comment, I’m also finding this super fascinating! I would 100% watch a behind the scene documentary about putting these advents together, the psychology of it all, the sales and incentives etc!

Also totally fascinated by the TikTok shop live streams. It’s so bizarre! They’ve taken the old live shopping tv channels concept and made it cool for a younger audience.

CountryCob · 29/11/2022 10:25

@Zoetrope1 you are right about that, trying to work TikTok past watching the occasional video would spoil advents for me

incognitodorrito · 29/11/2022 10:26

I went from advent calendar abstinence too the following after all the fab reductions

  • LIB for me
  • H&B for me too
  • two Kinder chocolate AC for DC
  • one Pringle AC for DD
  • one smiggle blue AC for DS
  • one M&S walnut whip for DH

a no Beauty spend first half of 2023 for beauty products is now a certainty.

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 29/11/2022 10:32

I’m still in the denial stage of how many advents I have. Probably because I’m still not convinced I’m done. Oh well.

InfinityOrUndefined · 29/11/2022 10:33

Selfridges in stock again!

MidnightMeltdown · 29/11/2022 10:35

There was definitely at least one dodgy looking seller with LF calendars on TikTok.

They were selling ridiculously cheap, and when I googled the name of the company, it was some kind of car company that dissolved a few years ago.

Not sure if that's the one you bought from @Zeeza

I would keep an eye on your card statement for any unauthorised transactions

MidnightMeltdown · 29/11/2022 10:40

Debenhams is only £45 now

ajandjjmum · 29/11/2022 10:41

AnnieSnap · 28/11/2022 20:26

Damn this thread, damn it I say! I already have two calendars, M&S and NUXE. I had no intention of buying another. I was being sensible. I kept visiting here though and weakened and went on Lookfantastic, you know, just for a little look. Then I found that not only had their own calendar been reduced to £75, but with code ADVENTSUBS for those of us who already have a account (I don’t subscribe to their beauty box, but this worked for me), it brings the price down to £60. I’m strong, but not that strong 😳

This thread is a nightmare! Just seen your post which justified buying the Look Fantastic for my two nieces!

And now @InfinityOrUndefined , I'm tempted to get the Selfridges one for me and DD to share - although I've already got her the JL one and M & S for myself. DH has not got one - he was just not suitably excited by the Mince Pie one I got him for last year - he just can't understand the importance of advent calendars! Grin

Pinenu · 29/11/2022 10:44

Selfridges still showing as out of stock for me.
