You're welcome ladies! We need to share the knowledge to get the good discounts! 😄

BrokeAsABone · 11/11/2022 18:15

Another thank you from me @MidnightMeltdown. I bought John Lewis so have just applied for my refund of the difference.

And I have to say I think their policy is great. For people who bought calendars at full price only to see them reduce in price later, it takes the shine away a little I think. So this policy is a good one IMO.

bewarethetides · 11/11/2022 18:22

Re the QVC Elemis Christmas purchase. If anyone purchased using the Topcashback link which promises 10% back for that particular purchase as a 'special' promoted event, keep an eye on your account. I've raised a complaint with Topcashback as QVC has only tentatively put £2.50 onto my account, which is less than 5% of the £59.95 purchase price. Pretty poor on QVC's part.

EmmatheStageRat · 11/11/2022 18:22

@MidnightMeltdown , thanks so much, JL has already refunded my £26.85. I used to keep tabs on the Never Knowingly Undersold policy all the time and religiously apply for my refunds when items were reduced. There was a lot of press about the policy being scrapped and I was convinced it had fully ended; I had no idea that JL was still committed to refunding the difference on its own brand products. Yay! I do love JL and I’m thrilled that I’ve purchased the AC at the discounted rate but plus had the bonus of the absolutely wonderful free Winter Radiance Box.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 11/11/2022 18:40

Oh dear. So much for 1 ac this year. Well I only got 1 beauty Confused (Liberty).

Then there's my Nespresso, Lakrids, Marzipans for OH, Chilli sauce for DS2 and Degusta arrived today. (It's huge!) I haven't unpacked any yet so I hope they're ok.

Then I sent my ds1 his usual Lindor and sent his gf the small Bodyshop one. And I also sent his dog and cats one each as well.

Got a bit carried away. Oops.

RosettaStormer · 11/11/2022 18:48

What is in the Degusta calendar? No products mentioned online.

It’s great! I wish SpaceNK did it. But since they don’t, I won’t be shopping with them next year. Between Cult Beauty and Sephora I’m now covered.

Glossybox subscribers only - SINGLESDAY50 and the subscriber discount makes the advent calendar only £35.50 until midnight 12th Nov.

Non subscribers it's 49.50 for the same time limit.

HashtagShitShop · 11/11/2022 19:02

(it goes without saying but I must repeat it just incase - non-subscribers need to use the same code (SINGLESDAY50) in the discount box to get it for that price too :) )

BrokeAsABone · 11/11/2022 19:02

@MyOtherCarIsAHearse I was disgusted at Space NK. My husband bought me the calendar for one of my Christmas presents and he was so delighted with it. I had it about four years ago and loved it so I think that's why he chose it. I then saw it was reduced....hadn't the heart to tell him and won't. But like you I won't be back there in a hurry.

I'm not a subscriber but I think my teen girl might love it and the price right now is excellent. Thanks Hashtag!

I wanted to get Degusta for my DH but it doesn't ship to NI. So I'm making him a calendar with goodies from Harvey Nicks and M&S...at about four times the price!

Enjoy!❤️

MidnightMeltdown · 11/11/2022 14:09

Ah but you might benefit from a discount on a calendar that someone else bought right away. I paid full price for Cult Beauty 😏

JL is my only calendar.

PomRuns · 11/11/2022 19:58

CorporateBull · 11/11/2022 19:25

JL is my only calendar.

Worth emailing them ?

Housewife2010 · 11/11/2022 20:10

Thank you so much to the poster who wrote about the JL refund. I applied for it this afternoon and my refund has just been confirmed. So I got the JL.advent & free Winter beauty box for £152.

Roundaboot · 11/11/2022 21:52

How are people applying for the JL refund? Do you need to phone them?

Passmeaplacard · 11/11/2022 21:54

@Roundaboot you can do it online. Under the help section on the website there’s a never knowingly undersold section and a claim form on there. They refunded me within a few hours today

polmnlj · 11/11/2022 21:55

I am waiting for JL to be -50%. Last couple of years they had them -30% in store. It didn't get that low online.

Thank you but annoyingly it looks like I bought mine more than 35 days ago. Ah well!

PomRuns · 11/11/2022 22:18

@Roundaboot So did I but realised was delivered within 35 days- might be worth emailing?

CountryCob · 11/11/2022 23:40

The degusta is huge, I have set mine up and starting to feel a bit Christmasy, we are taking it in turns to open. Like many having bought last month I have overpaid a little, not as much as others but a bit. Glad to have one and may buy another if reduced significantly. Advent’s are quite different this year, it is to be expected I suppose. I think the beauty edits I bought are as/ more exciting and I might have a use for old calendars in the future. Would get Sephora if around £100, if that doesn’t happen it will be ok. I think there is going to be at least a bargain going into December though. How about a Janvent general thread if there is?

PomRuns · 11/11/2022 22:18

I was turned down as purchased outside 35 days - purchased on day of release.

respinded to say I thought they were deceitful and price dropping deliberately at this point to exclude those who purchased early & we missed out on beauty box as well.

They have now offered me a gift card.

PomRuns · 12/11/2022 07:50

@Eve pleased for you. I also missed out on the beauty box.
I might try to wait next year.

Peridot1 · 12/11/2022 08:01

I think a lot of people will wait next year. I also think there may be less of them around if retailers are stuck and having to discount.

Stokey · 12/11/2022 08:14

Thanks for flagging the JL policy. I bought mine 9 days ago after sitting on the fence for weeks so very glad to hear £20 off.

I guess it depends what the economic climate is like next year, but hopefully they'll realise that at least the £200+ ones are less appealing unless there is real value in there (and in an ideal world, no more Nars, Ren tonics or pillow mist!).
