Great trainers (to wear with dresses)

Wear dresses and skirts, a lot. Could do with some fab trainers to go with these. I tend to wear black tights with dresses, so they need to go with these - I’m not against colour at all and don’t want trainers to totally blend in, if that makes sense, but wonder if they need a bit of black in them to go with the tights, IYSWIM? TIA. 😊

What about something like Grenson boots instead?

I know what you mean though. I'm
interested to see what's suggested?

Gruelle · 23/10/2022 14:45

It’s honestly a bit late to be buying trainers to wear with dresses - you’d be a walking cliche.

Boots are a good call. Knee length for newness. Or proper old school leather loafers. (With socks, not tights.) Infinite choice available.

Dogsgottabone · 23/10/2022 14:47

Look at hoff or saucony shadow.

I wear trainers with tights for work and these are my go to.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/10/2022 14:48

I think trainers are hard to wear with black tights tbh. I can make them work with a fake leather mini skirt and opaques, but not with much else.

Lucia574 · 23/10/2022 14:50

Trainers only look good with bare legs. Get boots for winter.

Gwenhwyfar · 23/10/2022 15:07

I'm also interested. I can't wear boots because of my bunions.

Vinyasa474 · 23/10/2022 15:16

Veja! Comfortable and can be worn with most things

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/10/2022 15:18

Loafers with socks and a dress would look ridiculous imo.

doubleshotcappuccino · 23/10/2022 15:25

Stan Smiths but switching to boots soon x ankle boots are lovely x

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/10/2022 15:33

I tend towards those simple lace up canvas plimsolls with dresses. I buy them in the men's shoes department.

Watapalava · 23/10/2022 16:09

You can’t wear trainers with tights

god no

go for boots

even trainers tights and bare legs are old fashioned now and scream mumsy

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/10/2022 16:24

Check out Patricia Blanchet. Lovely unusual colourful trainers and high tops.

There must be some comfortable boots out there for you. I have awkward feet and have a few pairs of comfortable boots.

Trainers and bare legs

Black tights and boots

Rules innit ✅

MadameSapphire · 23/10/2022 16:33

Oh goodness, I didn’t realise that tights and trainers together were such a fashion offence! 🙈😂 Right, I’m off to find me some boots… can anyone advise how Grenson sizing comes up? Thank you for all the advice so far.

Also vote for Hoff, lots of colour ways with black as dominant colour, so I find they look Ok w tights

Gruelle · 23/10/2022 16:40

Large, in my experience. And not waterproof. Halloween Angry

People have been saying good things about Lanx recently. They look lovely but I haven’t tried them myself.

comedycentral · 23/10/2022 16:44

Chelsea or doc martin boots look fab with dresses this time of year.

elizzza · 23/10/2022 16:46

Good god, imagine living your life according to a completely arbitrary and boring set of rules like what “looks good” with tights (as if what “looks good” isn’t both subjective and constantly shifting).

I’m another vote for Hoffs - maybe the London or Seoul colourways if you want a touch of black

evilharpy · 23/10/2022 16:47

If you're going to look at boots, maybe look at All Saints. I have a few pairs from there (Franka and Wanda) which look great with pretty much everything. They're true to size I think.

lannistunut · 23/10/2022 16:54

You can wear trainers with tights, they are fine. You just have to try lots on to find the right ones.

Agree with @elizzza there are no fixed rules.

sailrunski · 23/10/2022 17:30

Hoff!

I've got these

And also a great pair very similar for work that are leather from Matalan for £36! Which are super comfy on my tricky feet!
