What's the new Boden?

I agree with the other thread about Boden stuff having gone downhill recently and looking very disappointingly tatty when it arrives. So what's the alternative? Is there another good quality, not mega-expensive mail order catalogue?

fatface?

perpetualworrier · 21/01/2008 14:53

I had a big shop for DH and me in Fat Face a couple of years ago and we loved the stuff while it was new, but within a couple of months, the t-shirts had lost their shape and 2 zips were broken. I haven't been back since.

But, I would love to know where I can get trendy(ish) casual clothes, reasonable quality, that aren't covered in labels too.

Jazzicatz · 21/01/2008 14:54

Wrap are quite good as are Kew

Habbibu · 21/01/2008 14:54

White Stuff - seems to keep its quality, and I'm not kind to clothes.

prettycupcake · 21/01/2008 14:54

Vote for Kew from me

bossykate · 21/01/2008 15:05

have a look at Joules quality not top notch though i must say.

SheikYerbouti · 21/01/2008 15:08

I like Great Plains

Have ordered lots from them, and it's always a lovely fit, which is good as I am a tubby barrel.

Pannacotta · 21/01/2008 15:10

Gt Plains gets my vote.
Wrap and Kew have the worlds worst customer service between them.

SheikYerbouti · 21/01/2008 15:11

Great Plains are excellent, they always deliver within a couple of days as well, and their returns are good (I only had to use it once)

SheikYerbouti · 21/01/2008 15:12

And they don;t have a wanky catalogue/website like Boden, eg.

"Penny loves jumping up and down and looking a twat whilst eating lollies. She also hasd a fandness for squeezing her boyfriend's spots"

bossykate · 21/01/2008 15:13

lol @ sheikh! you can't be that big if you can fit into great plains! largest size is 16 and even then not all styles go up to that! you skinnymalinks!

SheikYerbouti · 21/01/2008 15:15

I am a size 14 BUT am 5ft and small boned, so I am quite round

I should be a size 6-8

bossykate · 21/01/2008 15:17

ah! i am tall and increasingly round and wouldn't have a hope of getting into anything from great plains!

margoandjerry · 21/01/2008 15:17

Very, Very good question.

I have ordered some quite nice stuff from Debenhams but no catalogue afaik

Eliza2 · 21/01/2008 15:39

Toast is nice and there's a sale on at the moment.

sylvev · 21/01/2008 18:22

I also love Wrap, (generally buy in the sale) and poetry. Kew nice too.

SilentTerror · 21/01/2008 18:28

White Stuff good but range not as large as Boden.Nice skirts though,as do Great Plains.

sophy · 21/01/2008 19:54

Toast -- much more stylish than Boden, and not as obvious either.

rosybud · 21/01/2008 19:56

Toast is nice but very expensive. Good quality though.
Great plains looks good - is it generous sizing like Boden?
Wrap quite good, but never think the colours are quite right.
Love Fat Face, nice fit.

brimfull · 21/01/2008 20:00

white stuff website shite imo

much better choice in the shop if you have one near you.

TuttiFrutti · 21/01/2008 21:35

White Stuff and Fat Face are OK, but not quite aiming for the same market as Boden IMO - young surfers in Cornwall rather than yummy mummies in Fulham? (Not that I'm either)

Have looked at Great Plains website and it looks very enticing. Have ordered a catalogue.

Toast looks shockingly expensive, but maybe the quality is worth it?

Definitely agree with ggirl about the White Stuff website. There are loads of lovely things in the shop at the moment and I think I prefer it to Fat Face now.

PrincessButtercup · 21/01/2008 21:42

Another vote for White Stuff here (and yes, shop is definitely better than the website; the Battersea store is particularly good). I think their market is shifting away from the ski/surf babe more towards Fulham yummy mummy. I've certainly have seen a few of the skirts at the school gates in my part of West London.

Maidamess · 21/01/2008 21:45

I bought loads of Great Plains tops in their sale, real bargains! I am a size 12/14 top and went for Large.

They are good quality and a good fit (despite dh's best attempts at tumble drying a linen mix top)

I havent tried their trousers/skirts though, as being a strange shape I really need to try stuff on and get a good look at the ol' rear view.

lucykate · 21/01/2008 21:47

anthropologie

and are my eyes deceiving me, but did i just see on that link (only looked briefly) that you can now order online from the uk??
