What's the new Boden?

I agree with the other thread about Boden stuff having gone downhill recently and looking very disappointingly tatty when it arrives. So what's the alternative? Is there another good quality, not mega-expensive mail order catalogue?

We use fatface for the kids and DH and it is great. wears and washes well.

Eliza2 · 22/01/2008 09:03

Yes you can, lucykate! Looks lovely.

lucykate · 22/01/2008 09:31

am having palpitations at the thought of being able to order anthropologie

their clothes are gorgeous

Eliza2 · 22/01/2008 12:26

You are very wicked posting that link and I shall blame you if I am divorced following some impulse shopping.

bossykate · 22/01/2008 13:14

wow. that site is fab!

Spockster · 22/01/2008 13:22

Wealth of Nations was nice, though horribly expensive hence now gone bust. HOWEVER the liquidation sale is still on and everything is a tenner or under, even stuff that cost over £150, so it's worth a look... www.wealthofnations.co.uk

TuttiFrutti · 22/01/2008 13:42

Anthropologie is absolutely stunning. What a discovery

Somebody tell me what from Anthropologie would work well for a business dinner. I need to look smart but relaxed and feminine but not too girly. I am 5'8", size 10-12.

margoandjerry · 22/01/2008 14:54

spockster, was that the same Wealth of Nations that used to sell very expensive but utterly unwearable ethnic items along the lines of "authentic Tibetan mourning cloak - perfect for the office" about 10 years ago?

Looks like it had gone much more normal. But now gone for ever.

Piffle · 22/01/2008 14:57

oh golly anthrologie is not cheap, but crikey their "panties" are damn fine looking
mind you at £10 a pop they would want to be

mrsbabookaloo · 22/01/2008 15:25

Oh no no no, ladies, I can't have you all swanning round in anthropologie gear. it's MY shop, donchaknow, and I go all the way to LA to get it!!!

But, really, you can buy in UK? Hurray! or maybe boo, as can't really afford....

JingleyJen · 22/01/2008 16:45

are the sizes US or UK? on the website?

JingleyJen · 22/01/2008 16:57

Oh please help have got things I want to buy - what size to order please?

lucykate · 22/01/2008 21:05

ah hem

paddingtonbear1 · 22/01/2008 23:19

i love that site! but alas (or phew, for my bank balance) it doesn't look like they shop to the uk..
anyone want to go over there and bring back loads of stuff?!

paddingtonbear1 · 22/01/2008 23:20

ship to the uk, even...

lucykate · 22/01/2008 23:36

i'm confused, the other day, you could click on a 'uk' option on the anthropologie site, it even changed all the prices to £'s, and now its gone

lucykate · 22/01/2008 23:45

ok, have just googled it, and they must have been doing a trial on their web site, uk shipping will be available, early 2008 is as specific as it gets for now

paddingtonbear1 · 22/01/2008 23:47

OK that sounds hopeful! I can wait (and save up)!!

mamado · 23/01/2008 07:26

looks like you can order from the UK today....but alas, since its a US site you think the price looks not TOO bad and then they whack on tax, duties and shipping costs. Might be cheaper to go to the US!

wish I'd never seen this lovely site

CorrieDale · 23/01/2008 08:16

Oh My God. The Wealth of Nations sale is stupendous!!!!! Spockster is not wrong - DEFINITELY worth a look.

jenkel · 23/01/2008 08:45

oh, just looked at the anthropolgie site and it does look like you can order in the uj, fell in love with the things in the shop when we went to san francisco is september, bought a few things and the sizes were generous.

Enid · 23/01/2008 08:51

dont like either of those

god what happened to wealth of nations they used to be quite groovy

I never buy grown up clothes from Boden
White stuff for somethings
fat face for the dds ONLY!
French connection
Top Shop
Toast
Howies

a mixture of all

Spockster · 23/01/2008 12:50

To be fair on WoN, only the cruddy stuff is left as the real bargains have already gone...largely to me, I have to say...but did anyone ever pay full price for their clothes?? Probably not, hence the liquidation sale...
Penny Plain is similar but cheaper, & even more fuddy-duddy (I think the companies are related).

Now, sorry to be a bore, but online M&S are looking better this season, no?

brimfull · 23/01/2008 12:53

I got bargain navy short mac from WofN for £20 reduced from £150 , I see it's now only £5!

It is really lovely quality.
