Game old birds is a reference to India Knight (who is a mere slip of a girl at age 41 or something) being referred to as a game old bird on this thread

Anyway, this is week 3 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Veils drawn over the weekends indiscretions, onwards!

Hoping the tumbleweed silence on this thread is down to everyone enjoying their weekends far to much to post (if not to bootcamp) ...

A not-awful weekend here. Had my sister round on Friday night (thanks for good wishes btw) - things with her DP's family are really just too awful to get a grip on, but we had a nice evening and I think it helped her to talk it through. Saturday started v well with the news that my ex-boyfriend (and still-dear friend) and his DP have had their DS. Celebrated by going out for lunch at a highly organic pub in Islington with four friends, eating red mullet, vegetable cous cous and spinach, and drinking lots of water and ginger beer while everyone else downed wine, so quite virtuous, really. Also, we were so busy gassing that we missed the end of service, so lunch was pudding-free for once. Last night, spag bol sauce and Special K (not together) and a few squares of dark chocolate.

Today, I've filed a couple of things I needed to write for tomorrow, so feeling pleased about that, and am going to cook farro salad, spinach and sausages for dinner. Yum! and it's a beautiful day, and I'm off work next week and going to visit my family up north. So all good, really. Only fly in ointment was a phonecall from DP's parents, who have recently achieved the feat of being able to irritate me long-distance. Ah well.

Have lovely sundays, one and all

L&S - glad you had a nice evening with sis. Meal sounds lovely too.
ureb/batters - no advice re: child nortiness, my eldest is only in Yr 1 and thus I'm a novice.

Glad everyone has had lovely weekends - we did too. Very sunny - ponies had their rugs off and galloped about the paddock all day enjoying their nudity! And we got loads of chores done.

Lots of mucking out for exercise. And I have just body scrubbed, foot scrubbed, slathered on lots of body cream and for bonus points, some self-tanning lotion. And I'm about to do a manicure and pedicure.

I've eaten toast & marmite, orange juice, vegetable soup & French bread, apple, venison casserole & potato dauphinoise (see below), melon, orange & cherry fruit salad. 2 coffees and not enough water because we run out of mineral at lunchtime and the glass of tap water I had this afternoon smelt of chemicals and had an unpleasant after taste.

Tonights dinner was a rather odd mix because there is NO FOOD in the house! I had to put butter beans in the venison casserole because I only had 2 carrots and an onion. And no potatoes. The dauphinoise was a Waitrose one that I'd frozen. It was all very nice though!

Oh Batters, my middle boy is no competition for your DD's incident! I think a written apology is a good idea. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to what to suggest.

Thankfully DS2 keeps his outbursts mainly for me (and DH plus brotherly spats). He is charm personified elsewhere most of the time (so much so that he's memorable when he does explode iykwim).

I've also done him a bit of a disservice. I've had two mums speak to me over the weekend about the playground incident and it appears that although he finished it (and yes he should still have walked away) he was provoked by three different children. That wasn't apparent when I was sat in the Head's office [hmm}.

Enough about my boy. I do hope the situation improves with DD Batters.

Pleasant enough weekend, although DH is exhausted. Last shift tonight thankfully. His back is much better, so nothing serious.

Walked home from town yesterday with a pocket full of chocolate raisins - is this a balance routine?? (Shame the chocolate was cheap chocolate, bleugh).

I've managed to walk a little bit between the boys' activities, and kept up the exercise bike. No alcohol, but I've eaten silly things this weekend, so much so that I'm looking forward to a fresh start in the morning, lol.
