Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

I think the ASOS one actually looks really good for a teenager. I usually buy Dd (15) a Body Shop one but am tempted by ASOS this year.

Someone mentioned upthread about 20% off but I can’t find a code or link anywhere. Does anyone know what it is please?

Nearlyadoctor · 10/09/2022 08:56

I’ve found it !!

🤣🤣

I'd claim autocorrect but that's probably worse as it corrects to words you use frequently.

Basically, I need to give in and get reading glasses

My early 20s dd had the ASOS advent calendar last year and loved it. I signed up to receive updates from ASOS and get send loads of codes.

MidnightMeltdown · 10/09/2022 15:09

@OchonAgusOchonOh

I love the idea of calling an advent calendar Bitchbox! 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks that’s good to know.

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 10/09/2022 16:27

Yes a week doesn't go by without ASOS having 20% off! I buy the majority of my beauty products from ASOS as you normally only need to wait a few days for a 20% off code and they have an ever expanding range of brands.

We could put one together and market it. We'll make a fortune.

Nearlyadoctor · 10/09/2022 19:43

So Dd is sorted - ASOS calendar ordered, I now need one for myself. Last year I had the Aaran one and although the packaging was beautiful it was all too samey and I felt like I’d got a lot of Hotel freebies.

Having RTFT it seems people aren’t that enamoured with the Space NK one this year but is that because they’ve tried the products previously so they’re not new so to speak? Apart from the CT lipstick there’s nothing there that I’ve used ( Very much a Clinique/ Benefit user in the past). CB and Liberty look good but Space NK seems to have more products I’m likely to use. Is there ever a discount? Otherwise likely to play it safe with The White Company or Molton Brown.

KimmySchmitt · 10/09/2022 20:05

Anyone seen the Saks Fifth Avenue calendar..? For me that has to be the worst one I've seen at that price point. They're pricey brands but the sizes are very small.

@Nearlyadoctor I think Space NK looks decent but yes, I have tried a lot of the contents already. Every so often they do £20 off a £100 spend or a double points day. Their points system is actually very good, every time I buy something I generally earn £5 off my next purchase.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2022 01:18

Typical that now I have the money to buy myself a very luxe a/c none of them appeal to me!
I love Elemis products but it's not doing it for me this year.
Though haven't seen the Harrod's content yet so maybe?
So it looks like M&S or Lumene for me & I think I'll treat DD to the Revolution one.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2022 01:19

Forgot to add awaiting the JL reveal too so maybe.

christmas2022 · 11/09/2022 07:51

Is anyone going with the Holland and Barratt one?

Ilikeviognier · 11/09/2022 09:21

I had H&B last year she was a bit disappointed tbh. I also had it the previous year and it was better so am undecided this year. Personally waiting for m&s but it’s a long wait.

greywinds · 11/09/2022 09:22

I love Elemis too but it's better ti get a one brand calendar when you're new to the brand as there is just too much on it that wouldn't suit my skin.

Ilikeviognier · 11/09/2022 09:22

“But” not “she”! Autocorrect!

Nearlyadoctor · 11/09/2022 16:58

So having spent nearly 24hrs researching, reading previous threads etc I’ve finally ordered the F&M advent calendar having originally thought Space NK.
I think I’ll use everything and having never had a Beauty AC before there’s no chance of repeat items.
Thank you ladies for all your knowledge and useful spreadsheets 🤣.
Ive ordered DH a Brewdog one just to allay my guilt for spending so much.

So we’ve ASOS Dd , F&M for me and Brewdog for DH . Roll on December !!

KimmySchmitt · 11/09/2022 17:30

Any thoughts on the Cohorted calendar? I think it actually looks pretty good and Cosmetopia has recommended it. The eyeshadow palette and cleansing balm alone would almost justify the cost for me. It's a 12 day one though and I'm not sure it the Reduit device is a gimmick. The value seems ridiculous for the price so there must be some catch.

AprilLady · 11/09/2022 18:18

Excellent choice @Nearlyadoctor. If you’ve never had it before I think you’ll love the F&M calendar.

@KimmySchmitt , especially with the 20% off, the Cohorted calendar does look good value. But I’m pretty sure the device is something of a gimmick, and have, I think, talked myself out of it.

Luvacuppatea2 · 11/09/2022 18:19

@KimmySchmitt I like the look of the Cohorted calendar. The only ‘dud’ for me is that boost device thingy you mentioned, valued at around £90, so almost 25% of the total calendar value. Still, disregarding this, £300 value for £50 sounds good to me

Someaddedsugar · 11/09/2022 18:26

Snap @Nearlyadoctor - I've got the F&M one and have bought DP the Brewdog one as surprise! I quite like the look of the glass you get with it too.

Luvacuppatea2 · 11/09/2022 18:29

Ooh, I hadn’t noticed the 20% off code @AprilLady , so thank you 😊. I might well be tempted to go for this now . If I ignore the device thingy, that leaves around £370 value for around £40. I’ve fancied trying something from Irene Forte for a while and would use all the other stuff, so might pump for this rather than m&s this year

Eirepopcorn · 11/09/2022 18:34

Love this thread! I got the Spacenk and M&S last year- I have a special savings account and put £20 into it every month for the calendars.
i will be giving both a miss this year as they are far too similar to previous years.
Think I will go for Cult Beauty.

AprilLady · 11/09/2022 18:43

@Luvacuppatea2 I’ve tried the Irene Forte night cream previously, and rather liked it - obviously not worth it’s ridiculous RRP, but definitely a plus in the calendar.
