Beauty Advent Calendars *spoiler alert - contents discussed within thread*

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 23/07/2022 12:26

Is it too soon for a thread on these? I remember last year they were all coming out or going on sale in September so not too far off.

I got the spacenk one last year and it was first ever beauty advent calendar and I loved it. Still using some of the products and have gone to purchase at least five items in full size, two of them multiple times.

This year I'll get the spacenk one again but might also go for the cult beauty as well.

Title amended by MNHQ to alert folk to the presence of spoilers within the thread.

I don't think that I would be able to wait until December if one arrived now. I would be required to order another one later in the year!

Doubleraspberry · 20/08/2022 14:47

Maybe they think it’s just easier if suppliers and postage might be vulnerable to get it out to customers? Bird in the hand.

Someaddedsugar · 20/08/2022 14:57

It might help them keep track of stock better too? Once it's shipped it's out of the way?

MidnightMeltdown · 20/08/2022 15:00

Yes I think it makes more sense to ship right away. That way they are more likely to have replacements if some arrived damaged and there's less risk of things going wrong.

August just seems so early for an advent calendar! 😂

Blossomtoes · 20/08/2022 15:27

Frees up expensive warehouse space. Those calendars are big buggers!

KimmySchmitt · 20/08/2022 20:59

Looks like Really Ree is revealing the Space NK contents tomorrow. I'm excited, I suspect it's between that and Selfridges for me (if I decide to go for one this year).

SwishFish · 21/08/2022 10:36

Checking in.

I’m hoping to get either H&B or John Lewis but I’m really bad at keeping on top of release dates and pouncing so I miss out every year. Hoping by following this thread I’ll be better prepared.

LookdeepintotheParka · 21/08/2022 12:13

H&B contents reveal here beautyadventcalendar.net/holland-barrett-advent-calendar-2022/

Giving it a miss this year. It's gone up to £55 and I'm not really interested in any of the contents sadly!

LookdeepintotheParka · 21/08/2022 12:36

Lol just seen the H&B link up thread! You're all more on it than me 😂

It's still down to JL or Rituals for me depending on contents.

Going away tomorrow and taking the last few bits from my calendar stash. I always feel a million dollars on holiday as I'm using luxury products I could never justify buying full size!!

Doubleraspberry · 19/08/2022 20:29

Is anyone at all anywhere buying Augustinus Bader? I think it’s in every single calendar? I’ve used it and not found it very exciting.

I’ve still got 2 x rich creams, 1x cream and oil from AB…I’m not that impressed with them, but may use them at some point. If I see AB in a calendar it automatically puts me off. I want some new fab products to try!

StarShapedWindow · 21/08/2022 12:48

@SoloCat The Liberty one doesn’t have any AB this year. I personally love the Rich Cream for winter but it is quite heavy.

TheChosenTwo · 21/08/2022 13:40

I hated the AB cream in all the guises I’ve tried it in. Thick, greasy and pore clogging! And doesn’t smell nice either.
Would be happy for it to be eradicated from the calendars personally, it seems to add a whacking great value to the calendar while bringing no personal value to me, I use it up on my legs!

Twinsandsome · 21/08/2022 13:56

My ideal Calendar would be

Diptyque Baies room spray or candle £51or both ☺️
An olaplex treatment
1x other hair care product
1x cutical nail oil
1x body moisturiser

1x balm cleanser maybe elemis/Clinique/EH
1x cream cleanser
1x exfoliating treatment maybe dermalogica daily micro exfoliant or dr Dennis gross pads (min 5)
2x nice serums (medik8/cult 51/Kate Somerville etc)
2x moisturisers (against the grain but LOVED la mer from last years space NK and although small did me 10 days)
1x face oil
1x face spf
1x eye cream
1x face mask
1x lip care product for winter lips
1x lip stick or similar
1x setting powder
1x mascara
1x eye product maybe CT rock and kohl liner or hourglass eye shadow
1x blush

I was relieved at that, though at first I liked the look of Liberty and I have some beauty drop credit…but I’m starting to feel like I want to be wowed by contents, and I’m not sure I am!

Does anyone remember the QMS lip serum in one of the previous Liberty calendars? I’m not sure if it’s one of those fill in brands, as it’s popped up again as a collagen serum. I really struggled to use the lip one and found it a bit of a meh product…although I am that target age!

I’ve never had the F&M, although I’m not keen on Bamford or Noble Isle..so not sure on that one, although the box looks beautiful and so seasonal.
I didn’t purchase any calendars last year as I found there was too many dud drawers…although I kept trying to convince myself otherwise 😁and nearly bought the Harrods!
I’d like to know what’s in the Harrods this year. It did look good last year, but by the time I decided to try it it had sold out and the restock was with less desirable products.
Space NK is a no from me, nor CB!

Talk about first world problems..🤪

wheresmyshoe · 21/08/2022 17:48

I'd be very happy with that calendar @Twinsandsome fabulous!

Talisin · 21/08/2022 18:14

Question: Has it actually been confirmed anywhere that Liberty Beauty Drop members will be able to use their credit for the calendar? I know they get a £10 discount and early access but I can’t find any other info currently and I believe that last year it wasn’t allowed?

Blossomtoes · 21/08/2022 18:42

It only started in December last year so nobody would have had any credit in time. I can’t see any reason why we can’t spend out credit on whatever we want, what difference would it make?

Housewife2010 · 21/08/2022 18:53

The Beauty Drop started at the end of September last year. The first box arrived October 21. The Beauty Drop money could always be put towards the Advent Calendar. I DM'd the Buying Director for Liberty last September re this and she confirmed that it could be used as a way to save up for the calendar.

Forgot. Nice bath oil or shower gel and then it would be perfect for me lol.

doublecleansed · 21/08/2022 19:34

Space NK contents here...thoughts? I'm not quite as wowed as I hoped - I think that weird webpage they did of "things we hope are in the calendar" got my hopes up a bit.
The full size Summer Fridays serum (which I use and buy anyway) and the Medik8 are v.good inclusions though

reallyree.com/space-nk-advent-calendar/

KimmySchmitt · 21/08/2022 19:46

Hmm think I'm decidedly underwhelmed by the Space NK contents. There are a few products I use anyway, but they're smaller sizes so not really value for money. A few I've tried and haven't bothered to repurchase. Not many that excite me. A 70g candle is disappointing too, I agree with @MidnightMeltdown that as much as I love a candle the minis are pointless. It was 140g in 2020 and that was a nice size.

Hopefully Selfridges comes up trumps for me!

fufflecake · 21/08/2022 19:51

oddly for me the clinique one sounds fun this year. Haven't used clinique for years.

Would love a diptique one

doublecleansed · 21/08/2022 19:57

The Rare Beauty mascara is tiny!

The Rose Inc blush that's included is really lovely - and that shade is gorgeous. Alas, I already have it - and it will last me a long time so don't need another.

Housewife2010 · 21/08/2022 20:10

I think the Space NK AC is disappointing. Why Pillow Talk lipstick again? It's always in beauty boxes and despite what CT says, it isn't a universal colour and it doesn't suit everybody
There are a few nice looking products but I need an AC to have a few items that I really want to try. There's nothing in there that I'm really excited about.
There isn't much make up either.
