Aldi Lacura - anyone else not impressed?

Daydreamerinme · 26/06/2022 23:36

On the back of so many positive reviews I bought -
Original cleanser
Glow toner
Caviar Day & Night creams
Q10 serum

Of these I’d only buy the cleanser again. I have ordinary skin, nothing sensitive or special about it but after using the above x2 daily for nearly three months my skin just looks dull and lacklustre. The day cream takes longer to rub in and absorb and then my skin feels tacky to touch afterwards for a little while.

Sadly I’m not impressed and wondered if anyone else has been disappointed or it’s just me? 🤷‍♀️

Another vote for the rejuvelate range. The caviar stuff is too heavy for me.

Grapewrath · 27/06/2022 20:36

The lacuna moisturiser made my eyes sting and stream. The cleanser smelt funny. I wasn’t a fan of either. I was trying to find a cheaper alternative to origins
I use face theory now which I find great and reasonably priced

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 27/06/2022 20:38

The only thing I liked was their dupe for the Clinique moisture surge moisturiser. I bought 4 jars as I loved it. Not seen it since so will find something else when it runs out.

LookdeepintotheParka · 27/06/2022 20:47

Love their excitingly named 'facial cream' which is a Kiehl's dupe. It's just a basic calming moisturiser which layers really well over my retinol serum. Can't go wrong for £1.99!

I also rate some of the Korean skincare dupes too like the overnight mask which is really soothing.

Duds for me have been their BB cream - my face was an oily mess after half an hour and the setting spray which leaves white blotches on your face 😬

My skin doesn't like any of their day creams, I wonder if it's the SPF in them. But I've been using this night cream for a while now and I love it. Whilst I'm not mad on their skincare as such, I do think that the makeup dupes they have are amazing (eyeshadow palettes, brow pencil, eyeliner, CC cream, body glow etc)

I use the day cream and I really like it.

Me too. I really like it and added SPF so feel I am protecting my skin too without having to put on another sun cream.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/06/2022 20:55

I find it mediocre at best. Superdrug is much better.

winniesanderson · 27/06/2022 20:57

Most of their skin care range just leaves my face red and stingy. And I've never considered my skin to be particularly sensitive. I do love their H2O overnight mask though. It's very gentle and refreshing and feels lovely after. I also love their mascaras.

A budget range that works for me is the Superdrug Naturally Radiant collection. They smell lovely and fresh and my skin feels and looks much better after using them.

Sooverthisnow · 27/06/2022 20:59

I love their tinted BB cream. A 50:50 mix of light and medium is perfect for my face

JingsMahBucket · 27/06/2022 21:11

@Fluffycloudland77 what are some good Superdrug ones to look out for? I’m heading there tomorrow.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/06/2022 21:27

Honestly I don’t think I’ve had a dud. Just try what you like the look of.

sjxoxo · 27/06/2022 21:31

i also wasn’t impressed! I use a lot of Tge Ordinary now. It’s the only cheaper skin care stuff that I think is any good. The only other thing I really rate is jojoba oil! I find it magic on my skin. X

Moj1t0 · 27/06/2022 21:56

Lots of people seem to think if the packaging looks similar then the product inside must be too.

Haha, yes, me. I bought the one that looks like Nivea Q10. It wasn't anywhere near as moisturising, had a weird blobby texture, and gave me a rash. Not such a bargain when you end up binning it half full and buy.your usual one anyway!

ElephantsFart · 27/06/2022 22:00

Smelly and makes my skin come out in a rash. If you read the ingredients it’s a big mix of chemicals.

GelatoQueen · 28/06/2022 09:25

I have really really sensitive skin and have just tried the vitamin C cleanser. It didn't break me out, dry my skin too much or cause inflammation / reaction so it's a winner for me. Paid a lot more for other products in the past that I've reacted to - looking at you clinique, elizabeth arden, Korres, Caudelie and a fancy swiss brand I can't remember name of

SkeletonFight · 28/06/2022 09:28

The thing is dupes are dupes - they are not the same as the real thing. There is no way I would put cheap stuff on my face to save a few pounds. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

spiderlight · 28/06/2022 12:26

I bought one of their face creams after someone here had raved about it but I can't use it because it smells so strong it gives me migraines. I also found the Aussie-style shampoo and conditioner awful on my hair, but DH loves them.

Okay, this is great to find out this info. I was thinking of using an Aldi replacement to a L'Oreal day cream when it runs out. I'll just pay for the L'Oreal version and call it a day. Or are there subs at Boots or Superdrug that are good too?

This is the product I'm talking about: L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Pro Retinol Day Cream SPF30 www.superdrug.com/premium-moisturisers/loreal-paris-revitalift-pro-retinol-day-cream-spf30-50ml/p/664551

Shoot, it's 50% off at Superdrug right now. I just may pick up another jar while I'm in town today actually...

This one’s better.

The Aldi skincare I really rate are the hot cloth cleanser and Rose facial oil. The rest isn’t up to much.

Most of what you are paying for is branding, packaging and fragrance. There is nothing wrong with cheaper beauty products as a concept - it's just that the Aldi ones aren't very good.

Agreed that was a lovely product, I haven’t seen it for a long while and I get the updates for ‘specials’ from them in the hope it would return.
I have been using the No7 HydraLuminous Water Surge Gel, they do a day and a night formula and also a ‘drier skin’ formula - it’s wonderful

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 29/06/2022 23:17

It's too heavily scented for my taste but otherwise I've found it fine.

It's an individual thing. Some people rave about the Caviar dupes but they don't suit me at all. Some people don't rate their Clinique dupes but I love them. What suits some people doesn't suit everybody. I'd rather spend £6 to try a dupe than £40+ to still get the same result (good or bad) Also, we can't all afford the "real thing" The same goes for dupes from Superdrug etc, they don't suit everybody.

DoYouSmokePaul · 22/04/2024 10:56

Their creams tend to make me break out and they also feel a bit stingy and have a weird smell to me. I do like the exfoliating toner thing especially as the bottle is huge and lasts ages.

Outlookmainlyfair · 22/04/2024 10:56

Hated it! Used a couple of products and never again, so many other bargain brands that are better.

Nubnut · 22/04/2024 11:10

I had exactly this with Revolution makeup. Rubbish.
