Anyone else think M&S have upped their game?

I'm not sure if it's because I recently turned 40 or if M&S have improved their womens clothing?! Lately I've found so many great work clothes in there, I have their fine knit jumper in every colour, their wide leg black lined trousers and even the jeans are a great fit for me.

I also recently got some beige tailored trousers and there is so much on the website I like the look of.

I used to hate M&S clothes but maybe it's now my age and tastes changing?!

No. I'm not agreeing with you.
I went in yesterday at Middlebrook and came away with nothing.
Still too much beige or unnecessary frills.
I'm 57 and a lot of stuff felt too old even for me

Leftbutcameback · 15/05/2022 22:14

I don't feel their range has changed much, but I am disappointed that their short trousers are now too long for me. I'm 5,2 so feel their should fit! The reason I shop there online is largely because I know what will fit me.

TaraRhu · 15/05/2022 22:14

Yes, I have a secret m and s buying habit. I've bought so many good bits and pieces and no one ever has them or guesses where they are from. No one seems to have clocked that you get good things (yet).

Carpediem15 · 15/05/2022 22:16

Yes they have changed the leg lengths on lots of the jeans and trousers and the short ones are too long for me so now buy them elsewhere.

JaceLancs · 15/05/2022 22:45

I’m not a huge fan of online shopping so wish there were more sizes in stock
in store

this week I wanted full size knickers, a linen dress and some jeggings
plenty of 8,10, 22 and 24 sizes nothing between
depending on cut or item I can be a 14 or 16
just stock more of the average sizes

Minoloso · 15/05/2022 23:28

I think they have too, but find the pop ups saying ‘in demand’ and how many people bought an item or looked at it super annoying!

Supersimkin2 · 15/05/2022 23:49

Yes! I love the click and collect which is free & usually overnight so I grab my new dress with lunchtime sandwich.

Perfect now their dress and skirt designers have upped their game.

DameCelia · 15/05/2022 23:58

The tights situation is dire! But not restricted to M&S, try buying tights in John Lewis, they have almost no stock at all.

DSGR · 16/05/2022 09:19

Yes, I adore their jeans, their thin merino jumpers (because I like to wear a cami underneath) and their linen trousers

DSGR · 16/05/2022 09:20

Such good prices too

RidingMyBike · 16/05/2022 09:30

I just wish they had it in store. I have a big M and S within walking distance and another, even bigger one, a short drive away but tend not to see what I want there, whereas it's like a different world online. But I'd rather buy in store?! I tried to buy some more Lily jeans in store the other week but only a really random selection of sizes there. Ended up doing click and collect but at least they did fit when they arrived!

I wonder if the small selection of tights reflects different working lives now? I used to wear tights for work several days a week but now I'm either WFH wearing jeans or on site wearing trousers.

easyday · 16/05/2022 09:33

No. Couldn't find anything in there I'd consider wearing (I'm 60, but still like to be fashionable). Some cute kid things though.

rookiemere · 16/05/2022 09:42

M&S do have some nice things, but you have to be prepared to snap them up when you see them as they seem to run out of the nice things as fast as they get them in.

I think they must be experiencing supply chain issues at the minute. I saw the Bardot blue and white dress in my size and ordered it online over a week ago with no sign of it arriving in store yet and no way of talking to an actual human to help. So that's a bit disappointing.

WineIsMyCarb · 16/05/2022 10:10

Can I have a link to the wide leg elasticated numbers please @Crimsonripple ?

CaliforniaDrumming · 16/05/2022 10:47

I have these wide leg trousers from M and S, and they are fantastic. Very nice weight fabric, but a bit long for some maybe. www.marksandspencer.com/jersey-wide-leg-trousers-with-stretch/p/clp60506499?color=DARKKHAKI#intid=carousel_FUNH_AT_PHOENIX-SIMILAR_TOP_PDP_16_0:8b04c546-bcf9-4d1f-b2c6-0b2c09c7761c

dolphinsarentcommon · 16/05/2022 11:13

Have managed to get some nice things online but instore isn't great. Online seems the only place I can get 'long' in anything too.

camperjam · 16/05/2022 12:51

I've noticed that they have improved recently. I have the jersey wide legged trousers and they are brilliant for work. The cropped leggings are good too. Nice material and don't fall down.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 16/05/2022 18:39

They have really upped their game.
Just hope M&S stay this way!

yoshiblue · 16/05/2022 19:35

Agree, I've decided to revamp my wardrobe and bought a number of things

Two oversized work shirts
Denim jacket
Camera bag
Mom jeans
Goodmove longline hoodie
Cotton embroidered top

Wasn't impressed with short sleeved blouses though, I wanted cotton for summer and nothing caught my eye.

yoshiblue · 16/05/2022 19:36

Urgh, that was a nice list until Mumsnet reformatted it!

Dimenw · 16/05/2022 22:59

Nope sorry. Still way too much polyester. Still way off with their colour range and very little choice of colour. Sizing still random. Went to an actual store because so fed up of returning stuff - and there was nothing there. Well ok there was some day-glow coral, some citrine, and a lot of flouncy ruffly down to the floor stuff (I'm not tall) and an awful lot of beige. The online offering is better, but I really wanted to try a whole lot of stuff on. There was nothing I could be bothered to take to the changing room.

ElCoh · 16/05/2022 23:05

Makes no difference how good their clobber is because there is never anyone on the tills. Twice I have gone to purchase and have waited a good 10 mins for service and there are no staff anywhere.

DashboardConfessional · 17/05/2022 07:38

I love some of their dresses. A friend has this and it's lovely (plus, cotton!)

Magenta82 · 15/05/2022 21:27

They have really gone downhill when it comes to tights, changed the names and shades of the colours, vastly reduced the range and don't stock all colours in all ranges.

This was the total extent of all the tights stocked in Watford yesterday!

They changed the name of their tights/knee highs/ankle highs from things like "nude" to something else because not all of their customers are white skinned and 'nude' to one customer wouldn't be 'nude' to another. They also expanded their colour range in their hosiery.

I heard one of their staff actually say that you'd be better off buying on line now as they just aren't getting the stock for their stores any more.

cleareyesfulhearts · 17/05/2022 08:37

Yes, much better. I must be lucky because our local branch always has loads of tills open.
