Just that really

Yes
Primark prices and much better quality.
Sizes are on the small size - like Primark - so size up.

paxman · 15/05/2022 13:27

No

worraliberty · 15/05/2022 13:27

There was a thread on this the other day.

They're extremely hit and miss with the quality. Primark is much better but Shein has some beautiful looking stuff.

A lot of it is photoshopped/enhanced on screen.

dogsandcoffee · 15/05/2022 13:28

I heard you need to go by the star rating on each one. I’ve just ordered a cardigan from there- first time ordering from them- so I’ll report back on the quality when it arrives.

cottagegardenflower · 15/05/2022 13:29

thinking of a swimsuit. free returns though

See I don't trust the star ratings because if you look at a lot of the reviews, they're for different items than the one you're trying to order. It's as though they lump them all in together to make the item look more popular.

Trust Pilot doesn't really help either.

Electriq · 15/05/2022 13:31

Just bit the bullet and ordered, what has arrived so far I am very happy with.

Isn't the best quality, but I'd say the price should tell you that, I'd buy again

emerald226 · 15/05/2022 13:31

Just bought swimwear from SHEIN am returning it as you can see the inside white lining it sticks out around the edges suppose it's ok if the swimwear is white

I think the returns service is supposed to be really bad.

I have had a few nice things from there though - just pot luck.

Snoken · 15/05/2022 13:42

Mass produced, cheap, fast fashion rumoured to be produced in sweatshops using child labour and shipped from China. Honestly the worse kind of shopping you can do if you are at all concerned about the environment we all live in and human rights.

My DD has bought from them before though, she is no longer a child so I have no say where she shops, and some items she has liked, but most of them have gone to charity shops as they are simply just weird looking and not at all like the pictures. She did try and return items the first time, and she sent them off but has never got any money back. Must be 18 months or so ago now. She chased and chased, but got nowhere. I think because it's so cheap they assume people will give up on chasing payments as it's not worth their time eventually.

cottagegardenflower · 15/05/2022 13:48

I'm looking at the reviews with pictures so that should help. I only want a swimsuit as i cant find much with shorts but a skirt too. Hate my fat thighs

rahjama · 15/05/2022 13:52

I've been debating the same thing over the last few week, apparently the quality is meant to be alright but the sizing is really small, probably down to the size 4 models they use.

As pp said their photos are edited i've found they use the same picture and then edit the different colours in.

I wouldn't trust the reviews, they have a points system where if you give them enough 5* reviews you get discounts and deals and money off. So everyone always rates their clothing 5 starts. I would go by the pictures posted in the reviews to see what the clothing looks like on normal bodies rather than the edited and photoshopped ones they use on their website.

Myonlysunshine123 · 15/05/2022 14:03

I'm a shein fan,.for me and my daughter, I get the curve (plus) sizes and haven't returned anything for my self, only a few hoodys that my daughter didn't like in the flesh,.and got my money back within a few days as they have a uk warehouse I think. Dresses are my favourite from there at the moment.

TizerorFizz · 15/05/2022 14:05

I just wouldn’t buy a swimsuit directly from a Chinese company. I need to try them on at home and choose from several styles. Or even in a shop!

You are right. Shorts and skirts are difficult to find. Therefore I’ve always gone with a decent swimsuit. Big pattern and no one will care about your thighs! A pattern takes your eye away from less desirable bits. Them buy a short sarong. I prefer a longer one but they all cover up your worst bits. All you need do is take it off when you walk to the pool. Fantasie swimwear is first class. Yes it costs more but it lasts. Boden and M&S are pretty good too.

Shein is Chinese tat destined for landfill. Don’t do it.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 15/05/2022 14:05

My 12 yo dd loves their stuff. We've made 4/5 orders and been happy with pretty much everything.

easyday · 15/05/2022 14:14

Yes but I find the sizes are all over the place.

JenniferPlantain · 15/05/2022 14:37

They are as unethical, immoral and environmentally damaging as they are cheap. They use child Labour and sweatshops. Up to you if you’re okay with that.

doingmyboxin · 15/05/2022 14:43

I've recently received two swimming costumes and I'm quite happy with them and will be keeping.

But I was disappointed to see that each item came in a little plastic zipper type bag. No need for it.

anywhichwaytoo · 15/05/2022 15:12

Please god don't.

Disgusting and unethical fast fashion shite. Buy decent quality pieces that will last a life time.

I agree that excess plastic isn't great but is that seriously the biggest issue with Shein?!

JetTail · 15/05/2022 15:27

You need to look at the measurements they give (usually in one of the photos). Then measure yourself! I've have had to by XL when a size 6. Really look at the measurements. The other thing Is the fabric. It lists whether it's polyester or a combo of that. It's a reliable website if you really read the measurements.

JetTail · 15/05/2022 15:28

I have bought some really nice stuff from there.

JetTail · 15/05/2022 15:31

Some of the clothes are made for tiny waists and larger hip width. I have no bum to speak of so some of the clothes look ridiculous on me as to get it to fit on the waist, it's hanging around my hips. Just make sure you read the measurements given per product (usually accurate) and take it from there. I have bought some really nice stuff from there.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind1 · 15/05/2022 15:31

It can be, but it's hit and miss.
Tbf, I've had about 90% hits, but you have to look at reviews very carefully.

lardass88 · 15/05/2022 15:31

I've ordered from shein, I find it hit and miss. The material for the hoodie/ jumpers are weird, a bit scratchy and the material for the dresses are just cheap and rip easily. As previous people have said the sizing are all over the place. I've ordered jewellery from there which I love as well as hair bits and bobs
