Our Dermatica journey

MayBeee · 11/05/2022 13:13

Hi there
I've been on Dermatica for a month and wonder if anyone else newly on it would like somewhere to discuss / share their journey ?
My prescription is :

Month 1: Tretinoin 0.015% / Niacinamide 4%
Month 2: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4%
Month 3: Tretinoin 0.05% / Niacinamide 4%
Months 4+: Tretinoin 0.05% / Niacinamide 4% years

If anyone is out there , how are you getting on ?

My skin is feeling much softer but as I've also really upped my regime that has probably helped lot as as well.
And of course the religious adding of sunscreen , which I've never done before.

@Twoweeksandcounting

thanks for the suggestion.

I'm actually swooping down to 0.05 from 0.1 next month. I'm having to use such a lot of moisturiser to keep the dryness at bay, I think the lower dosage was better on me and more sustainable.

Twoweeksandcounting · 19/05/2022 15:29

@doadeer i have actually heard that 0.05% may be better in the long run, compared to 0.1%, probably because of fewer “side effects” so to speak, and people being more likely to use it long term. I would have carried on with the 0.05%, but I wanted a higher dose of azelaic acid, and they only used that in their higher dose of tret formulation.

Tallesttiptoes · 21/05/2022 11:39

Hello, joining in as I am just starting on my dermatica journey! Have got the following prescription:

Month 1: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 4%
Month 2: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 4%
Month 3: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 4%
Months 4+: Tretinoin 0.025% / Niacinamide 4% / Azelaic Acid 4%

My main issue is hormonal neck and jawline spots. When I asked a question about neck they told me I shouldn’t use it on neck, but I currently use differin and benzoyl peroxide on my neck with no issues so I’m going to tentatively try. I’m going to stick with cetaphil face wash and cerave moisturiser at night, and cetaphil spf 50 during day.

Bit nervous about peeling and redness. I also don’t know whether to continue using my usual glycolic acid toner (currently use bravura ginseng and it’s the only thing I notice a major difference in my skin if I don’t use it for a few days). I think in balance I will not use the toner to begin with but would be interested to hear whether anyone has got any thoughts on what else I could use.

MayBeee · 21/05/2022 12:47

Welcome @Tallesttiptoes
hope it all goes well for you , keep us posted.

Welcome . Being nosy , what made you stop and how long was it before you saw a change / revert back to how your skin was ?
What are you back on ?

OP posts:
Twoweeksandcounting · 22/05/2022 18:01

@Tallesttiptoes good luck! Personally, I would hold off on using the toner for the first couple of weeks, to see how your skin reacts. I cautiously used an acid toner in the first couple of weeks, and massively regretted it! But these days, over a year in, I happily slap anything on my face and it tolerates it!

My dermatica has arrived they have sent azelaic acid and niacinamide ...i thought i was having tret...my bad. Anybody know what these too ingredients are for?

TheChosenTwo · 25/05/2022 01:09

I’m on month 6. Scarring has improved dramatically and I rarely get any spots anymore. Although when the very odd one crops up it’s impossible to pop as the skin Just sort of peels away and then leaves an annoying scab and the spot is still there 😂 yes I’m a picker and that’s obviously how I ended up with so much scarring in the first place…

Tallesttiptoes · 27/05/2022 07:22

Thanks @Twoweeksandcounting am playing it very cautious, no toner. Missing my acid peels from bravura. Especially lactic acid one, always leaves me with such a glow the morning after!

5 days into Tret, niac and azaelic acid. Quite a bit of peeling but it’s not very noticeable so I’m not too bothered. My skin has felt quite ‘tacky’ by the end of the day, that might be all the moisturiser and sunscreen that I’m using. Most peeling it on my neck, where my worst spots are, so I am hoping that is a good sign that there is some really good exfoliation going on. I’ve got a couple of new spots but no major breakout. My skin’s not looking as glowy or fresh as it can do at times but hopefully I can add in some products for that at some point.

How’s everyone else getting on?

MayBeee · 27/05/2022 08:05

I've not used mine for 5/6 days as I've had an eczema breakout on my face , neck and chest and hands .

I am week 4 in and impressed so far.

I'm on

Tret 0.025%
Hydroquinone 4%

After deliberation, I decided to try Dermatica for anti aging and my mild melasma. I can actually see the brown marks fading now and my so called open pores are less visible too. I like the fact that tretinoin increases collagen over time so am looking forward to the long term usage benefits.

I have just received my second prescription in which the tret has increased to 0.05%. So far, I have had no reaction to the tret - no flaking or anything and my skin feels super soft and glowy.

I also like the fact that you can extend your delivery for your next dose. I have moved my next one back to July so saves a bit of money too.

If anyone is interested in joining please use code 4N98N5 for a free first month and half price second month.

Interesting to hear how everyone else if finding it too!

Tallesttiptoes · 27/05/2022 11:12

Oh no @MayBeee that sounds rough 😞 hope it settles soon.

@apairofblueeyes100 that sounds good! Hoping to get my glow back soon as my skin settles into the tret.

MayBeee · 27/05/2022 15:44

@Tallesttiptoes

Thank you . Hope to get back on it soon .

Hi,

I am about a month in using dermatica. I have the same prescription as you. I have definitely noticed a difference, I'm just about to start my 0.25% my first tube lasted a bit longer than expected as I did every other day to start with.
I have had some very slight dry patches and my skin reacted a little to vit c serum, but all fine now.
I wear Tropic Sun Day factor 50 under make up as it's not greasy and then beauty pie factor 50 on days I'm not wearing make up.

I also use a hyaluronic acid and a daily moisturiser, same one day and night.

I'm hoping to see more of an improvement once I'm a week or so into the increased dose.

MrOllivander · 27/05/2022 16:52

It's a slow slow process - years rather than weeks. I use skin and me, been on it for over 2 years now but I plan to use tret as a lifelong thing

MayBeee · 08/06/2022 18:56

As above post , still not back on it due to condition of skin , however I seem to have 2 hard spots , side by side , just above my jawline and they have been there at least two weeks. I never get spots . Any ideas what they could be ?

Im still here although I went on holiday for a week and forgot the cream so progress has been slow. The bumps have gone but Im not sure how much improvement in colour so far. I'll give it till the end of summer I think.

On another note I see they do La roche posay citaplast Baum with factor 50 now. Useful for 'pottering about but not in full sun' days.

Flockameanie · 20/06/2022 21:41

I started out with a rosacea formula 5 months ago, which I had some success with. Then at my 3 month review they changed the formula to 0.1% Adapalene, 4% Niacinamide, 4% azelaic acid as I was still getting hormonal outbreaks. I've been on that for nearly a month and my skin hasn't looked this good for years! I don't think I've had a single spot. Although I'm not sure if that's just because I haven't had a cycle in that time (I'm peri-menopausal, so very irregular periods now). I'm really hoping it works long-term as I've been plagued by mild rosacea and/or hormonal breakouts since I had my first DC in my late-30s.

I too have a referral code if anyone wants it: GY7LD4 or this link www.dermatica.co.uk/referrer/GY7LD4

usernotfound0000 · 21/06/2022 08:53

@Flockameanie did you get an email about a 3 month review? I must be approaching mine but haven't heard anything. Im on the rosacea formula and I have to say, the redness has really improved, im very impressed. But I am also still getting some outbreaks so would like something adding in to deal with the spots!

Jobseeker19 · 21/06/2022 09:20

I have been using this for a few months now and got asked if I was a teenager the other day (I'm 29!).

I had a lot of issues with dry red skin but the way I found to work best for me is to use the product on a clean dry face then use an intensive hand cream as strange as it sounds.

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 21/06/2022 09:28

hello!

I started with Skin + Me when it first launched, but they ere doing such low Tretinoin that it didn't make much of a difference. I switched to Dermatica, back to Skin + Me who eventually increased the prescription to .05%, but then wouldn't prescribe hydroquinone, but Dermatica would.

Only issue is that Dermatica will only prescribe hydroquinone for 6 months at a time and then they insist on a break.

I may go to a dermatologist at this stage as my pigmentation is way better but not totally gone although may have unrealistic expectations
