What's your style this year? I've loved menorcan sandals, arizonas, various little simple strap sandals and this year I'm wondering about something a bit more chunky.
Quite like these from timberland
www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/greenstride-ray-city-sandal-for-women-in-white-a2qvm100

But hard to say without trying them on. Not my usual style at all! But would love something super comfy to see me through summer.

Right, well, I did go for the ones with the eye-watering price tag and I like them a lot. If they last for 10 years, like my Marc Jacobs sandals (which was my previous high-water mark for shoe expenditure) then I will be a very happy bunny. I spent four years looking for something which combined chunky straps, supportive sole and sling-back fastener. I have an unlovely bunion which I don't want to reveal, I want to be able to walk comfortably and I dislike ankle straps on me as they shorten the leg. Don't judge me.

Oh I like those M&S ones. But of course the black are all sold out!

I had been stalking these for absolutely ages, checked every day because they trickle in a few every day but they sell out really quick!

However they were massively too wide for me ( check reviews who say the same). So I sent them back.

Also if you do decide to order them size half a size down. I'm a 5-5.5 in Marks normally and I ordered 4.5 and they fit okay lengthwise.

I love these but what is the inner sole made of? The description says the upper is leather but then says 100% polyester? I prefer a leather inner sole.

I’ve just checked and the sticker in the sole clearly labels the inner sole as leather, so I see where the polyester comes in. The outer sole is other materials as expected. They are lovely and come in a really nice silver grey shoe bag!

These were the best pair I ever had. Sadly worn to death and the new versions suck (uncomfortable and look very granny ish). If I had £220 I’d definately get more:

I've just ordered these

Can't wait for them to arrive!

QuentininQuarantino · 09/05/2022 06:23

I need sandals for hot city breaks and sadly Birkenstock’s have started rubbing in the extreme heat so last year I started looking for an alternative and found the Gracie range from fit flop.

I don’t think they look like fit flops…

I wear them all day in the office and for walking around town shopping, etc. I wouldn't wear them all day on a city break. They are indeed heavy.

Bounceyboing · 09/05/2022 07:00

Due to dropped arched I now need to wear insoles all the time so I’m looking for some sandals that they can fit into. They’ll need to be flat, with a closed heel and ideally not open at the sides so they’re not obvious. Has anyone seen anything suitable cos I haven’t😮

Rosehugger · 09/05/2022 07:00

I used to buy new sandals most years but about seven years ago had to get Fit Flops as everything else was too flat for my feet.when I had an injury- had insoles in all my other shoes. Was surprised to find some of the designs are more attractive than I thought and go way beyond toe posts (which I cannot abide). My feet are fine now but I still love the Fit Flops - two pairs, slight wedge/platform sole, two bands over my feet, one in pink, one in a floral pattern. They are still so comfortable and absolutely indestructible - have been in the sea with the floral ones dozens of times also.

The year before that I bought some expensive smart brown leather sandals with a small wedge heel which I also love. So this will be my eighth summer of not buying any new sandals at all.

BigSkies2022 · 09/05/2022 08:19

@Notarealmum no, well, I don't generally buy Marni, but I'd been looking for the right pair for, literally, years and these kept coming up. They were on special offer which reduced them to £470 and I used Paypal 0% to buy them, and paid over 4 months. If they last like my previous posh sandals, they will more than earn their keep. And (final self-justifying remark) I have bought very little in the way of new clothes in the last three years, trying to use what I have.

Notarealmum · 09/05/2022 09:12

No need for justification, @BigSkies2022 - just enjoy wearing them (you’re worth it, and all that....) 😄

Thursday37 · 09/05/2022 09:21

I’ve bought these in 2 colours, unbelievably comfortable
www.next.co.uk/g2875s3/A14356#A14356

I don’t really care if no-one thinks they are stylish though, I’m running around with a toddler and comfort is king right now!

YouAreShoutingAtTea · 09/05/2022 09:59

Has anyone tried the wedges from Birkenstock?? Eyeing these ones, but are they comfy??? https://www.birkenstock.com/gb/soley-ring-buckle-natural-leather/soleyringbuckle-pureleather-naturalleather-0-tpu-w1.html?dwvarr_soleyringbuckle-pureleather-naturalleather-0-tpu-w11width=S

Nix32 · 09/05/2022 11:54

Waystation · 09/05/2022 12:31

Are they comfortable? I've been eyeing them up for ages and you may have just persuaded me to order them.

BigSkies2022 · 09/05/2022 15:37

They are comfortable Blonde! (I'd be feeling pretty dumb if they weren't). I tried them with thick socks just in the house with the tags still on, then without socks before I dared remove the tags and say they were mine to keep. I also love the green ones, but I think tan will have longevity. And I will wear them bare footed and with sparkly socks (I think I must be entering my 'I will wear purple' years).

SicParvisMagna · 09/05/2022 15:45

I bought these last year in a Clarks outlet store and they are so ridiculously comfortable and smart looking too. I'm thinking about getting them in the silver, which is a bit out of my comfort zone colour wise, but more for evenings on holiday etc.

These ones Love them.

missfliss · 09/05/2022 16:05

Mine are new and I love them.
