How old were you when you stopped wearing sleeveless tops?

Or can we go on wearing them forever?
im 46 and trying to tone my arms as I love sleeveless things. I’m getting there and I’ve lost weight which helps.
but do you think there is an age ceiling anyway? What age does it just stop looking good?

OP posts:

Dear lord, wear them as long as you like!!!
As you said, you're 46- you get to decide what you wear

VaddaABeetch · 02/05/2022 21:52

When your arms drop off?

wear them while you still have arms.

DramaAlpaca · 02/05/2022 21:53

An age ceiling? Of course not! If you like them, wear them.

Mamette · 02/05/2022 21:55

Of course pp are right but I know what you mean OP. I am 45 and I will try to tone mine a bit before I break them out this year (running out of time a bit though).

Wagsandclaws · 02/05/2022 22:08

I've just turned 50 and having spent years worrying about my bingo wings and good Lord I do have them I'm thinking Sod it and west of. Whatever I want.

I have a couple of beautiful halter neck style dresses and tops and I've bought a strapless bra to wear with them and I'm getting the spray tan out to finish off he look.

ValerieDoonican · 02/05/2022 22:10

I worried about this while I was in my 40s - ditto shorts. Now I'm in my 60s, I really don't care.

Kite22 · 02/05/2022 22:15

er.... first I have heard of any ruling.

Why would you have to wear sleeves over a certain age ? Confused

Ragwort · 02/05/2022 22:17

Agree with others, I am mid 60s and overweight... but if it is hot and I want to wear a sleeveless top or dress I just wear one, why should I care? I want to be comfortable... I am not trying to impress anyone or God forbid attract male attention.

Mrsbclinton · 02/05/2022 22:20

What? Ive seen 80 year old women wearing sleeveless tops!

Wear them if you like them & dont be worrying about what anyone else thinks!

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 02/05/2022 22:21

I'm 60+ and plump. I wear sleeveless tops whenever I want. I don't worry about my many imperfections. Confidence and a cheerful face go a long way . It's one of the joys of ageing.

watcherintherye · 02/05/2022 22:21

Oh dear, I didn’t realise there was an age limit Blush

JaceLancs · 02/05/2022 22:22

At 58 I still wear them and sleeveless dresses

YewandOak · 02/05/2022 22:25

An overweight 57 year old here,I still wear sleeveless tops when it's hot. I dress for me,not others or fashion.I may have slight bingo wings, but they don't bother me.

StillWeRise · 02/05/2022 22:27

OP, yes, you can go on wearing sleeveless tops forever!
good to see we're pretty unanimous on this one 💪

H1Drangea · 02/05/2022 22:29

I’m 61 , still wear them and have no plans on stopping

ChuckMater · 02/05/2022 22:35

26 or 27, I'm 29 now and it bothers me that I'm paranoid about the top of my arms for no reason but I just can't bring myself to wear them again. I've got two young children, it happened somewhere between the two but I agree with others, there is no age limit and I need to give my head a wobble.

Gregsprinkles · 02/05/2022 22:38

Funniest thread I've read in ages, just wear the bloody vests! 😂

Gregsprinkles · 02/05/2022 22:39

wear them while you still have arms.
This 🤣

Shiningstarr · 02/05/2022 22:44

There's no age limit. It's personal preference. I don't like sleeveless tops on anyone, but that's my personal preference.

Antarcticant · 02/05/2022 22:45

I'm nearly 50 and still wear them. DGAF what anyone makes of my flappy bingo wings!😀

Blossomtoes · 02/05/2022 23:22

I can’t bear to look at my own upper arms so I’m definitely not inflicting them on anyone else! I don’t think sleeveless clothes are any cooler on a hot day than something with loose sleeves.

Chaoslatte · 02/05/2022 23:23

I don’t think there’s an age limit but I don’t wear them because my shoulders burn easily and they rarely sit well with cardigans

RobertaFirmino · 03/05/2022 02:12

I'm still wearing sleeveless tops at 45 and have no plans to stop. Ever. I do have a slight wobble but I'm mid forties for crying out loud, what do people expect!

fallfallfall · 03/05/2022 02:16

well my fashionista mother who is moving into a seniors complex is NOT taking any sleeveless tops, she's 89.

VaVaVoombangabang · 03/05/2022 05:15

I am another who and has for many years, not wanted to inflict my upper arms on anyone.

I have always hated my arms so not worn sleeveless since I was in my 20's (a few years ago!)

If you want to wear them wear them, no-one really cares except you
