Need an outfit for twin daughters 18th birthday party which is being held in a city centre night club. DDs are young, gorgeous, tiny and will be wearing as little as possible as will there friends. Only family going are parents, siblings and cousins. What the heck do I wear. I'm 48, 5'1 a size 14 with big boobs and big belly and struggle to wear heels.

Yes I know I've asked the impossible., but any help would be appreciated.

A great wrap dress? Always flattering, I think. I would go black or navy (always classic and you can wear again and again) with some bright flats, fab jewellery and some great lippy.

Riverlee · 20/04/2022 17:23

wrap dress - available in different designs

  • maybe stick to black and accessorise with gold bangles, gold wedges/sandals etc

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2022 17:25

What's the club's usual dress code? Lots of places allow trainers these days. A dress and trainers would be perfect for dancing!

Imtoooldforallthis · 20/04/2022 18:05

It's a really expensive club, usually all the girls are in bodycon dresses and heels.

Don’t over think it , what do you feel comfortable in? Wear that but have your hair and makeup done to glam it up
hope you have a wonderful time!

Try ‘Closet Kimono wrap dress’ they do lots of colours and are decent sizing with a good thick zip!

Imtoooldforallthis · 20/04/2022 18:11

I have a couple of wrap dresses but I would say not really appropriate I would look very mumsy and more like I was going out to lunch.

Black cigarette pants
kimono top
fancy wedges

CrushedPistachios · 20/04/2022 18:14

Jeans and a blazer? Maybe in a bright pop of colour?

SirChenjins · 20/04/2022 18:14

I know it’s a bit dull but I’d go for a black wide legged jumpsuit with some low heels or ankle boots. I’d also remind myself that I will be all but invisible to my 18 year olds and their friends Wink

Imtoooldforallthis · 20/04/2022 18:14

Oh and I have no waist so anything with a tie waist just accentuates my stomach, the ethos that a belt gives you a waist certainly doesn't work for me. . My usual go to it coated leggings heeled boots and a top, but feel I've done that to death.

What about something like this

I fear you are right about me being invisible.

I love cigarette pants, but on me i look like a parsnip.

SirChenjins · 20/04/2022 18:17

Invisible in a good way though - it means they are having a huge amount of fun with their friends Smile

Imtoooldforallthis · 20/04/2022 18:17

Love jeans and blazer just wonder if it will be a bit casual.

www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-batwing-plunge-jumpsuit-in-rust/prd/201530742

@Imtoooldforallthis that link may not work but would a plunge neck boiler suit in a fluidy fabric work? Could add a statement necklace or drop earrings

I'd go flatforms personally.

Also what is your colouring- and where in the country are you? London out-out look would be quite different to Liverpool for example, and I'm out int' Shires so it's a different ball game here.

No flaming anyone if you hate my suggestion, I'd just play it reasonably safe.

I'm also just saying as a size 14 to add a little shapewear for an evening do, because it makes things hang well and skim nicely.

Imtoooldforallthis · 20/04/2022 18:21

That jumpsuit is nice but I don't think it would be flattering from the back.

Colouring mousey/grey blond, blue eyes.

This is lovely but OP is big of boob, so unlikely to work.

OP - what shoes do you have already that you like wearing of an evening?

Neverreturntoathread · 20/04/2022 18:26

What about a posh looking dark kaftan? Like this kind of style? Glammed up with big earrings and posh hair.

Do you prefer longer or short, dress wise? Your stiletto boots sound good - maybe with a sequin mini and black top?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/04/2022 18:33

Sorry but that kaftan is fucking hideous! Grin
