Sali Hughes new skincare range for Revolution

Anyone seen Sali's video this morning? She's created a new skincare basics range for Revolution (whose products I've never tried). Quite excited by this prospect, not least because of the really reasonable pricing!

I've ordered the Vit C and the acid toner to try.
That's a shame about the balm cleanser though - not worth trying if it can't be used on eye make up. I've tried loads - absolute favourite is Clinique TTD then:

Drunk Elephant - great texture, good at removing make up, meh scent.
Emma Hardie - gorgeous texture, highly scented, does a great job but too luxe and £££ for day to day.
No 7 - does a good job, but left a residue
Body Shop Camomile - I know Caroline Hirons (goddess of skincare) loves this but I found it didn't do well on my waterproof eye make up.

On my list to try are Farmacy Clearly Clean, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye make up, and Then I Met You Living Balm but I bet I'll end up back with the Clinique.

beguilingeyes · 05/05/2022 10:20

I can't get on with Emma Hardie...it feels greasy to me..like it's left a film on my skin after removing.

I really like the Clinique one. i have bought Sali's but haven't tried it yet.

Maranello · 05/05/2022 11:11

@tomatoandherbs Emma Hardie used to be my go-to balm (I couldn't get on with Clinique TTDO but I know I'm in a minority there) but my absolute favourite now is the Elemis pro-collagen balm. Also not cheap but there's always an offer on somewhere and for me it's even better than the Emma Hardie.

Brill thanks
I just can’t shake using Clinique when I was in my early twenties. Feels like going backwards!
ill give Elemis a go

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 05/05/2022 11:14

I didn't like the smell of the Elemis balm. It was the one in the yellow pot I tried, the rose one might be better.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 05/05/2022 11:22

I'd love to try Sarah Chapman's balm but £50 for 100ml seems just a bit too much.

doadeer · 05/05/2022 11:25

@shopafrolic
I love then I met you balm - it's one of my tops

Also love the Medik8 cleansing oil

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/05/2022 11:27

I know I recommend it a lot but Superfacialist cleansing oil is lovely ( although has fragrance- sorry) as it takes of all make up including mascara ( I don't wear waterproof so can't tell you how it works on that score but it's fine on regular).
Doesnt sting my eyes and emulsifies beautifully to a milk that comes off on a warm flannel. Doesn't leave any fun on my ( dry, menopausal) skin.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 05/05/2022 11:28

Superfacialist didn't sting my eyes but it did make them itchy. Which is a shame as otherwise I really liked it.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 05/05/2022 11:41

Doesn't leave any fun on my ( dry, menopausal) skin.

That's a shame, but I suppose it's not really in its job description.

😂😂😂

We're always short-changed by these bloomin products. 😉

Good to hear @doadeer :)

I got the acid toner last week, it was the only one of the range in local Superdrug.
It seems fine, much like any other, but I do find the bottle is fairly rigid plastic so you can't squeeze it out, you have to sort of let it drip.
Would like to try the serum.

My current fave balm cleanser is the Beauty Bay own-brand Butter Cup, which is a good bargain at £8.50. I also like their Super Jelly.

If only I'd did leave fun on my skin!! Grin

Film, sorry!

florianfortescue · 05/05/2022 20:42

I agree with @lurkingfromhome that Farmacy Green Clean is excellent. Smells lovely, lasts ages and rinses clean away very easily with no film/fun.

I will try the Superfacialist oil next, I have seen it on the shelves and been curious so this ringing endorsement has swayed me!

HellyR · 06/05/2022 20:33

I've only tried the Clean Sheet gel cleanser but I'm pleased with it. Have been looking for a decent one for a while.
I'm not a huge fan of balm cleansers, I love an oil cleanser like DHC but prefer something a bit fresher in the morning.

Would never go back to a foaming cleanser!

beguilingeyes · 07/05/2022 07:38

They are changing the formulation of the cleansing balm to address the eye issue.

That's useful to know. Wouldn't you think they'd have got it right before launching the range🙄

I've been getting spots this week so have stopped using the serum - might just be a coincidence but it's the only new product I've tried for a while. I was also finding it quite sticky/tacky (not used a vit C serum before so that might be normal)

Is that inside info, or have they announced it? I can’t find it by googling. Will ask to exchange if possible as it’s unusable for me.

LoveLabradors · 07/05/2022 10:10

The Sarah chapman one is gorgeous - I’ve had trial sizes but just too expensive. I gave Evolve gentle cleansing melt a go as it was on offer a few weeks ago in JL. It’s my new fave now - absolutely gorgeous and excellent for eye make up. Highly recommend it.

LoveLabradors · 07/05/2022 10:44

Meant to say the Pai cleansing oil is wonderful too, will alternate between that and the evolve balm I think. Look fantastic (yes I hate the hut group but this offer was too good so it’s first time I’ve shopped with them since 2019) have it in a female founders box offer reduced to £33 at the moment, excellent value.

Sali mentioned it on her Facebook page. It didn't show up in testing.

OhGoodness · 07/05/2022 13:29

Thanks, @beguilingeyes.

Rainydays200 · 07/05/2022 21:38

I lurve Emma Hardie balm cleanser. I adore the smell. But it’s too £££ for me atm. Might try the M&S rose cleanser that’s been mentioned- thanks

Fizzgigg · 07/05/2022 21:38

Seems hard to believe it didn't show up in testing given how many people are finding it an issue
