Sali Hughes new skincare range for Revolution

Anyone seen Sali's video this morning? She's created a new skincare basics range for Revolution (whose products I've never tried). Quite excited by this prospect, not least because of the really reasonable pricing!

My purchases arrived today. My verdict:

Clean sheet cleanser - same issue that a PP had with the balm cleanser, made my eyes sting like buggery. Left my skin feeling nice but the eye thing is not great and means I probably won't use it again.

Vitamin C serum - ok but a weird smell and left my skin quite tacky. It is great value for a C serum though so I will persevere and see if I notice any long term benefits.

Rich moisturiser - very nice but not quite rich enough for my skin. Could be good combined with a face oil. I liked the fragrance, it's very light.

tomatoandherbs · 04/05/2022 06:16

Did anyone like the sali Hughes balm?
any recommendations for alternatives?

Neversaygoodbye · 04/05/2022 06:25

I've tried plenty of different balm cleansers and other than Clinique TTDO the best one I've found which is also more affordable is No7 balm cleanser in the pot. I repeat purchase this. No eye stinging either.

7catsisnotenough · 04/05/2022 06:26

.

tomatoandherbs · 04/05/2022 06:52

Have you tried Emma hardie @Neversaygoodbye

Neversaygoodbye · 04/05/2022 07:04

@tomatoandherbs I think I tried a sample a long time ago but I refuse to pay such high prices for something I wash down the sink almost immediately.

Southeastdweller · 04/05/2022 07:07

I was momentarily surprised on Sunday to see that India Knight was allowed to plug Sali’s range, they are mates after all.

Then I remembered who India’s stepfather is…

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 04/05/2022 07:43

If anyone needs a balm cleanser that doesn't the job brilliantly, doesn't sting and is very reasonably priced then I can only recommend M&S Pure rose cleansing balm.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 04/05/2022 07:47

And it's £12 for 100gr.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 04/05/2022 07:48

Oh tripple bugger!

does the job brilliantly

I thought the India Knight write-up of this range in the ST Style section was interesting. She basically waffled on about the seemingly remarkable fact it's "formula" rather than separate ingredient products (a la The Ordinary) but didn't actually say that the products were particularly effective or noteworthy. She also acknowledged that she is mates with Sali Hughes. I must admit the heavy marketing push is slightly offputting at the moment.

My products still haven't arrived though so I am still prepared to be blown away Grin

The India Knight who threatened to send her violent paedophile partner around to the houses of posters on Tattle when Sali claimed they were bullying her and that she had got someone to find the addresses of?
ahhh that’s real friendship.

tomatoandherbs · 03/05/2022 09:53

Oh I see available
sorry

i am desperate for a rest Good balm. Happy to spend up to £40

any recs? Emma hardie is my back up but doesn’t excite me!

I like the deviant one, and balmology (which smells incredible)

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 04/05/2022 10:58

part of the appeal of a balm cleanser for me is that it does away with the need for a separate eye makeup remover. So a balm that can't go near your eyes seems a bit pointless to me. Like others the bland and boring Clinique one is my fave, but the M&S one is also good. And neither sting my eyes!

Lndnmummy · 04/05/2022 11:26

Gutted there are fragrances in the product, Why!? It means they are out for so many people.

Bogofballs · 04/05/2022 11:40

Ah Sali, friend of India Knight who is married to convicted paedophile Eric Joyce. He was convicted in 2020 and still with him.

IF my husband was convicted of the disgusting crimes he was, I would divorce him. If my friend continued to live with a convicted paedophile I would end our friendship. I don’t care about the context. It’s a red line for most people with any morals.

Wtf is wrong with these people??!

lurkingfromhome · 04/05/2022 12:19

They're both awful.

Re balms, I love the Farmacy green clean one. No stinging and brilliant for taking eye make up off. Only need a tiny bit so big tub lasts for ages.

And a mother allowing her son to live with her?

just being nosy

my view is if she gives good beauty advice I’ll read her article without a second thought to the man she married.

ScrambledSmegs · 04/05/2022 12:37

I was quite interested until, like others, I saw that the range contained fragrance. That's a big no for me. I would be red as a traffic light (thanks rosacea).

Clinique TTDO is my favourite gentle balm cleanser. If I fancy a cream cleanser instead there is a lovely one by Your Good Skin (Boots).

I do recommend the Revolution clarifying shampoo with Salicylic acid though. If you get an itchy, flaky scalp it's the business. I don't have to wash my hair everyday any more.

Jesus, @tomatoandherbs, is there anything that would get between you and a beauty rec? India’s partner Eric Joyce was convicted of possessing category A images of child sex abuse, including the rape of a one-year-old baby.

His relationship with India was used as mitigation by his barrister. He avoided prison.

I can’t think of any.

missfliss · 04/05/2022 17:42

Not tried Sali's stuff - will wait for launch hype to die down.

On balm cleanser though - the best and most lovely I have tried of all of them is the Camomile body shop one. Have tried cheap and pricey ones and this is 100% my favorite

Exactly this. I want a lovely balm I can just run all over my face. This one IS lovely in texture and leaves my face feeling lovely but I can't let it anywhere near my eyes so it's totally useless to me.

The fragrance isn't strong. It smells like really clean soap to me. But if you don't want fragrance at all then definitely avoid.

Back to Clinique for me.

But like I said I have complained to Revolution and filled in their Customer Reaction form. Will report back on what they say.

I've just tried to balm cleanser to take my make up off and found it super greasy and I didn't get it in my eyes but it made them water! It feels like when I put tiger balm too close to my eyes Confused
I find the Aldi dupe of Liz Earle great value and a lovely scent. The Sali one smelled nice but a bit nana'a old Avon. Feels like she's gone for an old school scent with it.

tomatoandherbs · 05/05/2022 06:17

@Fizzgigg
how does Clinique compare with Emma hardie?

Fizzgigg · 05/05/2022 07:18

@tomatoandherbs I've never used Emma Hardie. I found Clinique and stuck with it!
