Sali Hughes new skincare range for Revolution

Anyone seen Sali's video this morning? She's created a new skincare basics range for Revolution (whose products I've never tried). Quite excited by this prospect, not least because of the really reasonable pricing!

I’m not sure how she can possibly continue with her Guardian column now. I used to be a big fan, but her use of Botox etc which is not always clear from her posts has put me right off.

She also has lots of “paid partnerships” now… she’s a full on influencer now. She even did one with Head and Shoulders.

Looks like this is going to be popular! Just received waitlist email and already low stock.

I've ordered the acids and vit C as needed both. Might get the balm cleanser when my current one runs out (which has been discontinued anyway)

Quite excited to try and see if they live up to the hype 😄

I used to really like Sali and then we had an exchange on Instagram that made me feel a bit weird. Unfortunately she came across as a bit snippy and I didn't know what to make of it. I know she doesn't owe me anything, but it did make me disengage. I'm not all over her products and endorsements like I used to be.

Oh God, I stopped following her when there was all that ridiculous bullying nonsense going on. No way would I buy her stuff after what she said and did to Dawn O'Porter. Shame, I like Revolution normally.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/04/2022 19:01

** and I can well believe she was snippy with you!

Am always amazed people buy into the hype around a product, particularly a new product being low in stock.

Stock is already low because the initial production run will be low as they want to test the water before manufacturing a large amount of product.

I sent her a supportive PM and got a reply that was so long it covered 3 messages. I was a bit perturbed.

'I sent her a supportive PM and got a reply that was so long it covered 3 messages'

Weird. What was the gist of it?

I literally said I was sorry about the stuff being written about her on tattle, honest but naive attempt at being supportive. I'm a bit behind and didn't know the full story or how that site affects people.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/04/2022 23:06

Tattle simply pointed out that she herself had dreadfully bullied someone in the past and wasn't it a shame she was no longer a credible beauty journalist now she was a paid influencer on Instagram. Then there was the crying video claiming she herself was being bullied. It was very mean girls and pretty appalling behavior on her part. I bet she was delighted with a supportive message for a change 😉

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/04/2022 23:06

**posters on Tattle

I meant what was the gist of her reply ☺️ but I think I can guess. Nothing weird about your supportive message, but Tattle is like a red rag to a bull with her

florianfortescue · 28/04/2022 09:53

I've bought the vitamin C serum, the rich moisturiser and the morning cleanser. Interested to see how they are, the sizes are more generous than I'd initially thought but vitamin C serum in particular seems hard to pull off in a budget format. Although good if it doesn't go stinky and dark brown like the Drunk Elephant one does after a few weeks.

Looking forward to trying them despite everyone pissing on my chips on this thread Grin

LadyOfTheCanyon · 28/04/2022 10:17

I've had good results with No7 vitamin C serum. You can usually find a voucher for money off or buy one get one free which makes the purchase more affordable.

PollyIndia · 28/04/2022 16:45

I've bought the rich cream and the balm cleanser just as I've run out of both and they had good reviews and inexpensive. I don't know about any of the tattle gossip dawn o'porter stuff... off to google!

Fizzgigg · 01/05/2022 08:45

So I bought the two cleansers - the balm and the morning cleanser.

Haven't used the morning one yet but used the balm last night. The texture is gorgeous and the fragrance really light. Lifted all my make up and sun cream off really well.

I'd be delighted with it BUT.... And this is a BIG BUT... My eyes really stung for a while after using it to remove eye makeup. I've never experienced that with other cleansers intended for make up removal (usually use Clinique's balm) . I noticed afterwards that the pot has big bold 'do not get product in eyes' warning on it which again I don't usually see on cleansers. Impossible to remove eye make up without summer getting in your eyes. That warning predictably doesn't appear on the product page. I also notice that the Independent reviewers said the same thing.

So I'm unimpressed by the cleansing balm and tempted to send it back.

I’ll give the acid and the serum a try.
much better value than the skincare range Trinny Woodhall has brought out, and I say that as a devotee of TW’s BFF cream

LookdeepintotheParka · 02/05/2022 19:59

Thanks for the update on the balm @Fizzgigg I won't bother trying if it's irritating on the eyes - I use Clinique too and never had any problem with it.

I'm enjoying both the Placid and vit C serum so far albeit only a few days in. Both definitely have a brightening effect and don't irritate my skin at all. I'd been using a exfoliating acid from Versed which I really like but the SH one is equally as good and slightly cheaper.

Pumperthepumper · 02/05/2022 20:07

I doubt it’ll be anything ground breaking either. I used to like SH a lot but the Botox (which I appreciate she’s honest about) and the endless new stuff being pushed just puts me off. I can bet I’d feel a lot of stuff was fantastic if I hadn’t paid for any of it, parting with actual money does affect how valuable you see it as I think.

TawnyPippit · 02/05/2022 20:52

I love a nice balm cleanser. I usually use Clinique Take the Day Off. I bought the Sali Hughes butter balm today - not started it yet so can’t comment but just worth pointing out that it’s actually more expensive per 100ml than the Clinique TTDO. So no idea how this is being positioned as a budget or semi budget option…

dontgobaconmyheart · 02/05/2022 22:06

I only very vaguely know who she is so her endorsement if anything is a negative for me; influencer advertising culture is very cynical IMO.

Revolution already has quite an extensive skincare range that I'm always seeing in shops, so presumably it's a bunny hop off of that packaged as 'hers' as these things usually are. Superdrug and boots also have their own essential/ingredients similar no fuss ingredients ranges, plus there's the ordinary & Inkey list etc. For me the concept is already oversaturated and everyone's skin needs different things anyway. I pick and choose between them and what works for me and has a good ingredients list.

If it's fragranced it would be a flat no from me anyway.

Yeah I noticed that on the pricing too @TawnyPippit . Seems cheaper untill you check how much is in it. The Clinique one lasts me ages!

Will be interesting to see how you get on with this one especially if you use it to remove eye makeup.

I did report the eye stinging to Revolution who have sent me a 'customer reaction form' to fill in as well as asking for batch number etc. Will see what they say but like I said the reviewer in The Independent mentioned it too. Also so strange to see such a big warning to avoid getting it in your eyes on a makeup remover!

I thought the India Knight write-up of this range in the ST Style section was interesting. She basically waffled on about the seemingly remarkable fact it's "formula" rather than separate ingredient products (a la The Ordinary) but didn't actually say that the products were particularly effective or noteworthy. She also acknowledged that she is mates with Sali Hughes. I must admit the heavy marketing push is slightly offputting at the moment.

My products still haven't arrived though so I am still prepared to be blown away Grin

tomatoandherbs · 03/05/2022 09:47

When will it be made available?

tomatoandherbs · 03/05/2022 09:53
