Because honestly I'm kind of excited they're back and want some.

But.

Will I just look naff?

Was thinking with a tucked in white t shirt and converse?

Not sure - I did them when they were last trendy! But I preferred my smart black Karen Millen ones as opposed to the army look.

mrsrobin · 01/04/2022 10:06

I will and do. All the time. I have always worn them! With flats or heels or flip flops. They go with everything!

evilharpy · 01/04/2022 11:22

I was going to say no, but I reckon I'll probably only be able to resist for so long. I used to buy them in the 90s from the local army surplus. I won't be wearing them with a cropped t shirt or mesh vest these days though!

I'm about a stone over my happy weight and don't think I'd wear them till I'm back down there again, I really don't need anything adding to the current bulk of my thighs.

TabithaTittlemouse · 01/04/2022 11:38

I wear these for work Grin

DrelasSkills · 01/04/2022 12:27

@LadyGardenersQuestionTime

Ladies where are the links??? I need to know what to buy. I wear workman's trousers for some volunteering that I do and I love them so some not-obviously-work ones would be fantastic
I've just bought these.

Pretty flattering I think. (Short and curvy size 10)

I had some gorgeous silk ones in grey from Monsoon. Elasticated waist, too ...

midsomermurderess · 01/04/2022 12:41

They're a bit toddlerish.

MrsVeryTired · 01/04/2022 12:47

Definitely
But I've never stopped wearing them really, so practical with the pockets Grin, I've got baggy ones, skinny ones, dressy ones...

If they are back "in" it means I'll have more choice now Smile

maeveiscurious · 01/04/2022 13:41

I think if you are over 20 it's a no

Zazdar · 01/04/2022 13:49

Here we go!

Size 20 or age 20?

VioletCharlotte · 01/04/2022 13:52

Are the ones that are out now low waisted like @Zazdar posted? I used to love this style but I find the higher waisted ones that were around last year deeply unflattering.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 01/04/2022 13:59

I've got these ones from mint velvet. Quite soft and fluid rather than jogger-y. If that makes sense.

I think they may be knock-offs of Italian originals. The reviews aren’t great.

And the canvas bags, everyone in my school had one. God bless the 90s.
etulosba · 01/04/2022 18:11

God bless the 90s.

90s? I thought she was talking about the 70s!

evilharpy · 01/04/2022 18:29

Oh very possibly... those army pants certainly had longevity Grin

Swayingpalmtrees · 01/04/2022 18:42

Er no!

I am 47 and looked amazing in them at 17 with a tiny waist, I think it will make everyone over a certain age look scruffy and frumpy. They are not that flattering unless you are super super fit or young.

Time40 · 01/04/2022 18:43

90s? I thought she was talking about the 70s!

I was talking about the 80s, actually. I'd swear cargo pants didn't exist in the 80s ... but I could be wrong about that.

Swayingpalmtrees · 01/04/2022 18:43

Actually my Mum has exactly those ones in lilac! She is 73 so I take it all back Grin

stimpyyouidiot · 01/04/2022 18:47

I'm far too fat for them now. Massively wide in the hip!

CoastalWave · 01/04/2022 18:50

@Zazdar

I might have to get a pair and get them embroidered. 🤔

I’m tempted by these.

It says embroidered but it looks more like she’s brushed her leg against a still wet oil painting.

oh my I had about 4 pairs exactly like this!!!

They were a godsend for 20 something me with a flat stomach but somewhat dodgy legs (thanks dad)

However, now a 40 something with even more dodgy legs and about 3 stone excess weight I fear even these bad boys won't help me!!!

hamstersarse · 01/04/2022 18:52

I'm wearing some All Saints ones now

Feel they are the step up from 'active wear' I need from my wfh wardrobe disgrace.

ElephantandGrasshopper · 01/04/2022 18:52

I'm in my 40s, wore them a lot in the 90s, they were always low waisted which doesn't work with my mum tum these days.

I bought some from H&m last autumn, they have a stretchy waist and I really like them. They are definitely casual rather than going out clothes though. I'll see if I can find a link.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/04/2022 18:54

I've been wearing them again. I wear Doc Martens or New Rocks, a leather jacket and some sort of band t-shirt with mine. I forgot how comfy they are!
