Hush tulle skirt (Floriza?) - help with styling please

I couldn't wait to receive my Hush tulle skirt last year - it was the answer to everything, and finally, I would be Carrie Bradshaw (I need a hand over the face emoji here!). However, things don't always work out as planned, and it has sat in my wardrobe gathering dust. Please help me work out what I can wear it with/for? I absolutely love it. I bought the pale grey/blue colour. I should have waited and bought the navy version, I saw someone wearing that recently with a pink silky blouse looking fab. (she was much taller than me though!).

How's about a fine knit dark grey polo neck, tucked in? With denim jacket, for day time. For evening dark sparkly fine knit jumper.

Wagsandclaws · 05/02/2022 19:26

I'm always on these boards with full pics of myself ( I had a neck lift 5 months ago as lost 6 stone so had a thread about it ) so I'll put this one up - skin is thanks to Botox, fillers and retinol, nothing worse than people saying 'oh yeah I've got great genes' 🤣🙄 not many people get to 50 with hardly any wrinkles!!

I love clothes so much and have had such a good time buying my ( smaller for me ) wardrobe so decided, as skincare is a bit of a hobby for me that when I lost the weight I needed help with the 'scaffolding' so to speak.

You should wear what makes you happy, I follow a few people on Instagram and frequent these boards far too much and I love lots of clothes that I suppose shouldn't be for ladies in the 50's but I think 'fuck it' you only live once so wear what makes you happy!

Thank you so much for the
Birthday wishes - it was better than last year ( in lockdown ) full length pic attached.

@Plump82 a grey cropped sequin top sounds beautiful!

@Twattergy that also sounds lovely!

I now have a few things to google/order whilst confined to my bedroom :)

OP I ordered the mauve - will have to wear it with a dark coloured top as still huge norks but I will wear it a lot in the summer I think.

Which one gave you got? Is it the mauve too?

Asos are great for sequin tops.

Also found this from a couple of years ago, same sort of skirt ( but from simply be and I was a couple of stone heavier ) but wore with black biker boots, black t shirt and a cropped cashmere grey cari Smile

Might not be quite the look you are going for but I loved this skirt!

I was just perusing wolf and badger and came across these tops. I was just thinking I wish I had a tulle skirt to go with one!
Lots of different colours and styles

@Wagsandclaws lovely pics... the second skirt looks VERY similar in the way it hangs to the Hush one

OP posts:
Wagsandclaws · 05/02/2022 19:58

@liveforchocolate I thought that - the waistband on the hush skirt is thicker though and the tulle comes down a bit longer too.

Tbh I think I got it in the simply be sale for about £25 though 🤭

I've ordered the one you've just linked to in a 16 - the colour is just lovely!

Wagsandclaws · 05/02/2022 19:59

Oh and I love the wolf and badger jumper but you'll need to be careful with footwear incase it looks a bit 'ballerina-ish' Cream boots maybe?

Pigtailsandall · 05/02/2022 20:05

I had a dusty pink tulle skirt when I was younger and skinnier and wore it with a grungy band t-shirt with cap sleeves or turned up sleeves. It was a funky balance

EllaPaella · 05/02/2022 20:06

Lovely skirt OP. I would wear it with white converse high-tops and maybe a wrap cardigan like this one (either the navy or grey) https://www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/knitwear/product.wool-wrap-cardigan-blue.1015488003.html

EllaPaella · 05/02/2022 20:06

@Wagsandclaws you look amazing 😍

liveforchocolate · 05/02/2022 20:11

@EllaPaella I LOVE that top, thank you! less 'ballerina' than the wolf & badger top

OP posts:
Wagsandclaws · 05/02/2022 20:24

@EllaPaella thank you that's really kind.

Love that Cos top as well - I've never bought anything from them although they are popular in these boards, must have a peruse!

I love that! I think it would work so well with the skirt!

toastfiend · 05/02/2022 21:14

I have this skirt in navy, I love it.

I'll be wearing it like this with a slightly grungy t-shirt, boots and leather jacket. I think I'd prefer it with chunkier boots than the ones in this picture with hindsight, though. I also like it with platform chelsea boots and an oversized knitted hoodie/jumper or trainers and a t-shirt for spring.

I think it's surprisingly versatile as can be dressed up or down and it makes me happy. Have a play with it and different combinations and see what feels right for you. I think the paler colour is really beautiful for spring.

DialsMavis · 05/02/2022 21:29

I love this skirt, have had my eye on it for a while. I usually size down in Hush joggers, should I for this if i take the plunge? I would also wear with a fitted t shirt and trainers I think

Wagsandclaws · 05/02/2022 21:36

@toastfiend that looks amazing on you 😍

liveforchocolate · 05/02/2022 21:51

@toastfiend you look amazing in it! I should have not been in such a rush and waited for navy!

@DialsMavis I have a size 10. I'm usually a 'M' / 12 in bottoms so I'd say probably yes. - what do the others here who have it think?

I had a similar issue with a sequinned skirt, also from hush. I just decided to wear it with whatever - oversized sweater, fine knit jumper. It’s been freezing since I bought it but I have some lighter weight tops which I want to wear with it too. I felt self conscious the first time but now I just feel fabulous.

marmiteloversunite · 05/02/2022 22:02

I'm 51 and 5'6" and I have it in the navy. I wear it with a navy vest top and navy boxy jumper which has diamanté buttons down the back. It sits slightly off the shoulder. I love it and feel very swishy in it.
