Oh my gosh!
I thought it was a young Caroline in the second photo.

LadyEloise1 · 26/01/2022 15:14

Kate is considered a Summer ( in Seasonal colour analysis ).
I think she could be an Autumn.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/01/2022 17:04

Hmm not sure about that as I think she doesn't look as good in cool or icy colours as she does in warmer tones. I would say she's an autumn and someone like Sophie is more a summer.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/01/2022 17:10

Do those commenting on her season think this is her colour? I think it's lovely but not her best shade. I love her in purples, teals etc. My own preferences perhaps! I think I'm going to get a pair of those boots, despite the comments they are very practical!!

KillingMeDeftly · 26/01/2022 17:15

I reckon she's a dark or vibrant autumn.

gluenotsoup · 26/01/2022 17:22

I have no idea whatsoever about this. Clueless.

paradyning · 26/01/2022 18:54

I think she looks pretty modern for her today. I quite like it. Hate the belt though. She needs to bin that one. It has ruined so many outfits.

Justkeeppedaling · 26/01/2022 20:04

I wonder what Kate wears to fancy do's that are family only or otherwise private? Does she stick to the high neck, long sleeve look, or is she a bit more racy, and leaves a button or two undone?

frugalkitty · 26/01/2022 20:21

As far as I'm aware, house of colour reps have Kate down as a summer (clothing personality as natural classic) and as a summer with similar colouring to Kate I'd say that's right.

What you have to bear in mind is that even within your season you have some colours that suit you more than others. So you have wow colours which means you can wear them head to toe and look full on amazing, at the other end you have colours which best suit you at 25% or accessory/pop of colour amounts eg a scarf. Equally, we have to be careful to avoid the ice pastel colours of winters, they would be clear and bright rather than our soft and muted pastels. The lightest summers are 'cotton wool summers' after the pretty cotton wool balls of yesteryear. They are the summers who look best in the very lightest shades in our palette. Then comes sweet pea summers, the 'classic' summer shades. Then these days they tend to say dark/deep summer (I was told anemone but I was draped twenty odd years ago). Finally there are brown summers and these can be easily confused with autumns because they fall closer to the autumn end and come alive in the summer browns and musk pinks and will suit rose gold jewellery in a way that the lighter summers don't.

Kettlewell can be very misleading as they don't match the house of colour sub categories and some of their shades they cross over seasons. There are a few shades that cross, for example hyacinth is both in the summer and spring seasons.

Sorry, that was long and probably boring
I always thought I was an autumn with my colouring but nope, I'm a summer.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 26/01/2022 20:22

So... Does today's dress colour suit? ConfusedGrin

AdaColeman · 26/01/2022 20:56

I’d say, no, that dull olive green, made darker by the black (animal?) print doesn’t suit. Imagine Kate in the same dress, but in a deep amethyst or rich ruby colour, how much better she would look.

Aside from that, I’m not too keen on the dress. With its deep hem frill, fussy sleeves and cuffs, cluttered neckline and heavy belt, busy print, layers of chiffon….. there is just too much going on there.

It’s very typical of Derek Lam’s style though.

MotherofPearl · 26/01/2022 21:01

Your description absolutely sums up why I dislike today's dress, Ada. And I find that flimsy chiffon fabric so jarring with winter boots. The more I look at it, the more it's a hard no from me.

justasking111 · 26/01/2022 22:59

Summer weight winter dress, fussy and dreary, great boots with the right outfit

MistySkiesAfterRain · 26/01/2022 23:20

99% sure Kate is Summer based on her eyes.

Winters - eyes tend to be a solid colour, Kates are blue with olive/brown around the iris

Springs - tend to have starburst patterns around their eyes, specks are small and defined, Kate has olive its softly randomly speckled but not in a starburst pattern

Autumns- have olive or brown which indicates warmth

Summers-have a petal like pattern, petals are softly edged and flow into another, this is most like Kates

I'd say brown summer maybe, or deep- she can rock deep pink for example.

She looks classy in the lighter colours, not pale and washed out. In the autumn colours she looks older, more serious, she can wear them as she has warmth but they are not her best.

Just a tuppence!

AdaColeman · 27/01/2022 00:22

The BBC has a little snippet of film of Charlotte Casiraghi opening the Chanel show. Search for “Monaco Royal rides horse on Chanel catwalk in Paris”. Charlotte has certainly earned her money as a Chanel brand ambassador this season!

SeaRabbit · 27/01/2022 08:14

Now this is a nice tiara. I don't normally like the spiky ones, but this has such elegance:

House of Savoy family makes bid for return of Italy’s crown jewels.

frugalkitty · 27/01/2022 09:57

So.....a stash of jewels under lock and key you say.....hmm. Sounds like we need a mumsnet heist to raid the bank and claim them as thread uniform! All we need is passports and balaclavas.....Grin

Eaumyword · 27/01/2022 14:32
Grin
justasking111 · 27/01/2022 16:35

It's a shame to lock the jewellery away a museum would be glad of them

justasking111 · 27/01/2022 16:55

This is a house of Savoy tiara

In the 1970s (about 76 IIRC) the were lots of rumours flying about, that the Savoy jewels had been surreptitiously removed from Rome, and secretly sold in Switzerland.
This was hotly denied by the Italian Central Bank, and they held an official opening, in the vault of the Bank, of the case containing the jewels.
There were many safeguards and conditions to be met before this was possible, with a list of bank officials, government ministers and an official jeweller required to attend as witnesses.

Gianni Bulgari (BVLGARI) was the official jeweller, and he was very scathing about the quality and value of the pieces, saying they couldn't be compared to the Crown Jewels of other European countries.

Which is understandable, since Italy hadn't been unified for very long, and had no Empire to provide rich plunder.

Awaiting the next exciting episode from The House of Savoy!

Leti in repeat red Carolina Herrera.
Striking, chic, stylish.
I really like this shade of red.

She looks great and I love the dark red shoes. But does anyone wear such high heels during the day anymore apart from royal women??
