Do you remember that photographer, I think Alison something, who used to take photos featuring celeb lookalikes doing something amusing? Camilla trying on tiaras with fag hanging out of mouth etc? That looks like one of her shoots!

CPM's 50th birthday celebrations have certainly set a new high bar for rather self-regarding overexposure... I didn't really think of her in this way before. I'd be interested to hear from @banivani about how this is all going down in the Scandi world.

It does make me wonder what goes on behind the closed doors of the DRF. What does Daisy think about it? Even her 80th birthday didn't involve 100 photoshoots! And it makes me wonder if there was another reason behind Joachim and Marie moving to France?

Then again I could be adding 2 and 2 together to make 5!

It's odd our royals cover the day and that's it. Maybe it's a European thing.

I don't think so @justasking111, I think it's a CPM thing! Fred was 50 a few years ago and there was a gala dinner but I don't recall seeing so many photographs and an exhibition about his life and times.

One of the strangest is the one Frugalkitty posted up thread - CPM in a white dress doing a weird squat/birthing ball pose! Most odd.

In the middle of an afternoon reception, life in her gilded cage suddenly got too much for Mary. She picked up the rippling skirts of her Greek-style gown and ran. As she burst through the door to the roof, a concerned Fred in close pursuit, she found that she was smiling. This was the one place where she felt free to be herself. To be Mary, not the Crown Princess.

A Christmas barbecue! Mary's heart leapt. With that to look forward to, she could face her daily engagements with fresh courage.
"And we really will adopt an orphaned koala bear?" she demanded.
"As many as you like!"
She couldn't ask for more. After all, her marriage had brought her so much. Rubies, diamonds, Danish open sandwiches and now koala bears too. Mary reached out and Fred helped her rise gracefully to her feet. The Crown Princess was ready to face the world once more.
