I need to stock up on some shower gels but I need to stay cheap - I've spent too much last year on luxurious and expensive body washes. What are some of your favourites but at a more cheap, affordable price?

I agree with soap- it’s much more effective than shower gel which never leaves me smelling clean, it just layers scent…

I use sanctuary soap. Not the cheapest but lasts so much longer so overall costs less.

Radox Good Vibes Only smells amazing - I buy it in Superdrug where it is usually buy one get one free.

Fatarseflanagan09 · 15/01/2022 20:04

Superdug sells Astral body wash, it smells lovely and is nice on the skin.

Can I ask a genuine stupid question please

For those of you saying soap is better - economically, packaging , result etc

What do you do with it in between uses

Are we still using plastic soap dishes that get gunked up , if I leave on shower floor it's soggy , best I've found was leaving it sitting on flannel but hoping for a better solution as I do also prefer a yummy bar of soap , the shower gel is just so convenient 🤭 please don't be unkind it's a genuine question

WrinklesShminkles · 15/01/2022 21:27

My shower soap goes in a vented soap dish that attaches by suction to the tiles in my shower. Dries out between uses and never goes gunky.

Thank you , yes I was thinking something vented would be better , I'll have a look cause I'm really in the mood for proper soap now

@KiloWhat

Sanctuary lily and something. It's pink. I buy it when it's 3 for 2.

Cheaper still, imperial leather do some nice ones

Think it's Lily and Peony? I'm sure I received a bottle in a gift bag of birthday presents from my work colleagues last year, it was lovely! I might have to treat myself to another bottle

Faith in Nature range. The grapefruit and orange is my current fav.

noblegreenk · 16/01/2022 00:56

My favourite cheapie is imperial leather cotton clouds and white cashmere shower creme.

Andoffwego · 16/01/2022 03:17

Lush Figs and Leaves soap - my favourite scent ever

Treacle Moon - the ginger one or the cinnamon one in November and December because it’s Christmas in a bottle.

The Body Shop Olive shower gel

And…Imperial Leather Narwhal Always Love You shower gel. About 80p from Home Bargains for a massive bottle. Not in the slightest bit classy but smells a bit like blue cocktails and is lovely in summer.

Andoffwego · 16/01/2022 03:19

And Waitrose ginger and clementine body wash or soap. Love this stuff.

I use soap, and have one of those Superhuman telescopic shelf things, that has a vented soap dish bit. My Nesti Dante dries out nicely between showers.

One of my favourite Nesti Dante scents is the golden countryside one, really clean soft smell. Must try something different as I've bought this scent for the last year!

Faith in Nature's grapefruit soap is lovely, and I like L'Occitane bar soap too

NashvilleQueen · 16/01/2022 08:18

It was a New Years resolution years ago to switch to soap. I hate the packaging in gel and also the waste trying to keep it in your hands. Soap is much better IMO

Aphrodite31 · 16/01/2022 08:25

Soap n glory smoothie star body wash. Smells completely amazing and is nicely creamy and lasts ages. £6.50.

I love the Palmolive honey ones.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 16/01/2022 08:30

I recently discovered Body Shop shower gels after about 30 years of not using them. They smell gorgeous.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/01/2022 08:36

It's not the issue of where to store the soap ( I have a rubbery dimply soap dish to drain it) it's just I cannot keep a hold of it !
I need to pick it up at least three times .
And if its a big bar of Neste Dante that bloody hurts if it lands on my foot !

They are lovely . Some limited ones too.
I bought 4 bottles of the Cool Daisy last year ( lovely floral but not over so)
Pumpkin Spice otoh smelled of old socks Wink.

NoiceToight · 16/01/2022 08:43

I love l'occitaine soaps. There's a lovely smelling verbena one made with Shea butter, and the Clary sage soap is lovely too. I also love the almond oil exfoliating soap - nice and scratchy!

NoiceToight · 16/01/2022 08:45

I have a bamboo vented soap dish that doesn't make the soap go gunky. I also have a vented soap tin with a lid from l'occitaine, which is good for travelling, or just setting in the shower on a shelf.

ineedsun · 16/01/2022 08:46

People who use soap, how do you stop it going slimy and mushy in the shower?

Crowdfundingforcake · 16/01/2022 08:55

TK Maxx for lovely soaps - always buy DH some Florentine or Marseilles soaps for Christmas. They last ages, smell lovely (citrus scents), 3 big bars for £5. They don't go soggy in the shower - we have a small soap dish/rack thing so the soap isn't sitting in water.

ineedsun · 16/01/2022 09:06

So do we, but it sort of melts around the metal rack. I wonder if it’s because we only have one bathroom so there are four people shower in it each day. It probably never really dries out.

Ooh a nice and scratchy soap sounds good!

Radox Eucalyptus £1. You surely can't get cheaper than that. Wakes me up in a morning.
