Tinted lip balm. Help!!!!

I've decided I'd like to try a tinted lip balm as a more 'barely there" option to lipstick. I've just had a look on Amazon ( got a gift card for Christmas) at the gazillions of options. I have no idea what would be a good choice
For reference, I'm in my 50's. Have spent most of my teenage and adult life as "the nerdy one who is good at academics but has no idea about clothes, make up and style" but in the last few years has started to take a bit more interest in her appearance.
I am probably a classic spring. Blonde hair, blue eyes and very pale skin tone but definitely orange based rather than blue based. I look good in rust reds, turquoises and pale peachy pastels.
I don't want to pay more than necessary but would be happy to pay a couple more quid for something that is really good.
I would like a barely there effect with maybe a bit of sheen/gloss/ shimmer

Can you help me through the maze of options?

Yy Korres lip butter. I like mango, I used pomegranate for years but I find it a bit pink now. I like to have one in each coat and bag, a bit on lips and cheeks really wakes my face up.

Dr Lipp
I saw a box of 4 colours in TKMaxx , they're tinted .
I bought a plain one for DD , she likes it

I have always loved the Nivea tinted /pearlised lip balms; my favourite one is pale pink called Nivea Lip Care Pearl and Shine.
Link below but you can buy it more cheaply in boots / other chemists. As only a few pounds, a good one to try?

If you're not sure - you could try something like this that will give the perfect colour for you as it reacts with your skin

I think these are a gimmick to be honest

They may react with something chemically but cannot give you the perfect colour for your colouring

I was going to say Burts Bees or 8 hour cream is my fave lip balm of all time

I got the Bobbi Brown ones before Christmas and they are nice

Havilland · 14/01/2022 07:14

Just wear a colourless lip balm and apply your own lipstick over the top and you will have a muted look for your lips.

I love the paw paw tinted lip balms you can get on asos. Really hydrating. I have red and mocha but I have dark hair with olive skin.

@CovidCurious

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour. I don't generally like the range except for lip balm - as well as a plain lip balm there are tinted options, too. They look scarily vivid in the tube but go on sheer and I think they look good.
Seconded. I love these - lovely tint and very moisturising
Cheesymonster · 14/01/2022 16:15

The Burt's Bees pomegranate one says it's tint-free in the description. The tinted BB ones are in the black tubes.

However even they are a bit too pigmented for me as I'm so pale. I like Nivea fruity shine in peach or cherry and the Maybelline baby lips in Cherry me.

Lanolips - I have the Rhubarb one which is pink-ish .

Bit sticky so no god if my hair is loose !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2022 16:38

no good

Purpleavocado · 14/01/2022 17:20

I love Dior lipglow but I hate the price. Nothing else seems to moisturise as well for me or look so good.

Lipsandlashes · 14/01/2022 17:23

I like Korres and Dr Paw Paw

Hadsuchahardday · 17/01/2022 18:01

Nivea Pearl and shine. About £2.

Santina · 17/01/2022 18:39

I've just bought a L'Occitain tinted lip balm, it's on offer too. Not used it yet but hoping it will be nice for spring summer.

[quote Run1000km2022]I am a very similar colouring to you and love Burt’s lipbalm! I have it in pomegranate which I like because it’s very subtle. They’re cheap though, so you can get a few different colours to experiment. I much much prefer these to proper lipstick which never looks quite right on me.

Coming to say exactly this, the pomegranate is a beaut colour on almost everyone!

Burts Bees - but only the ones in the black / brown tubes - example in the link …so moisturising and gives just the right amount of colour - also really good price…I’ve tried a lot, but really love these for tinted daytime use (laneige lip sleeping mask for night though):

Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm, Red Dahlia with Shea Butter & Botanical Waxes, 100% Natural Origin – 1 Tube x 4.25 g www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BOPFNGA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_M2YEQ1AATSS4YTB38K8T?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I have a tinted lip tint pot from www.plumpybalms.com - really nice and moisturising with a tiny bit of shimmer, vegan and reasonably priced too
