Tinted lip balm. Help!!!!

I've decided I'd like to try a tinted lip balm as a more 'barely there" option to lipstick. I've just had a look on Amazon ( got a gift card for Christmas) at the gazillions of options. I have no idea what would be a good choice
For reference, I'm in my 50's. Have spent most of my teenage and adult life as "the nerdy one who is good at academics but has no idea about clothes, make up and style" but in the last few years has started to take a bit more interest in her appearance.
I am probably a classic spring. Blonde hair, blue eyes and very pale skin tone but definitely orange based rather than blue based. I look good in rust reds, turquoises and pale peachy pastels.
I don't want to pay more than necessary but would be happy to pay a couple more quid for something that is really good.
I would like a barely there effect with maybe a bit of sheen/gloss/ shimmer

Can you help me through the maze of options?

I am a very similar colouring to you and love Burt’s lipbalm! I have it in pomegranate which I like because it’s very subtle. They’re cheap though, so you can get a few different colours to experiment. I much much prefer these to proper lipstick which never looks quite right on me.

Thanks @Run1000km2022 I had looked at that as one possibility. That's encouraging!

I love it because it’s also very moisturising so it doesn’t leave your lips dry with a flakey colour! I’m hanging around on your thread for more recommendations…

Burns bees makes my lips sore I think I must be allergic.

I'd just start with nivea or something and go from therf

Wingingitsince2018 · 12/01/2022 14:37

I also came to say burts bee's pomegranate!

My mum, sister and I all use it and it suits us all despite having different colouring. I also find I can just whack it on like a normal balm, without needing to look in a mirror, and it looks fine.

Run1000km2022 · 12/01/2022 14:38

@Wingingitsince2018 yes yes to applying it without a mirror! Though I have a darker burts one for which I do need a mirror.

The red tinted vaseline with the lulu guiness tin is great. Unfortunately they don't make it any more but I bought a couple on ebay recently for under a tenner. Warm, subtle deep ruby shade, really nice.

PlantingTulips · 12/01/2022 14:41

I love this stuff. They can colour matcj to help you decide which shades will suit you.

DrRamsesEmerson · 12/01/2022 14:42

I like the Kiko ones - good range of shades, nice texture.

Iamblossom · 12/01/2022 14:45

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips is the one I use

SockFluffInTheBath · 12/01/2022 14:48

Another vote for burt’s bees pomegranate, I’m similar colouring to you OP.

LookItsMeAgain · 12/01/2022 14:51

If you're not sure - you could try something like this that will give the perfect colour for you as it reacts with your skin:

SockFluffInTheBath · 12/01/2022 14:54

Clarins lip oils are nice too.

LadyCluck · 12/01/2022 14:54

Dior Lip Glow. Amazing stuff.
I use 001 Pink but there are a selection of shades. I plan to purchase the Rosewood next.

Luckyelephant1 · 12/01/2022 14:57

Glossier Ultralip. Don't know what shade you'd suit as I'm a totally different colouring to you but take a look on the website. Its really good, somewhere between a lip balm, lip gloss and sheer lipstick.

KiloWhat · 12/01/2022 15:17

@SockFluffInTheBath

Clarins lip oils are nice too.
Oh yes these are great

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour. I don't generally like the range except for lip balm - as well as a plain lip balm there are tinted options, too. They look scarily vivid in the tube but go on sheer and I think they look good.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 12/01/2022 17:35

The perricone no lipstick is nice, comes in different colours too

CMOTDibbler · 12/01/2022 17:42

I really like the Bobbi Brown Just a Hint

trulyconfuseddotcom · 12/01/2022 18:15

Korres Lip Butter in Wild Rose is nice, looks dark in the pot but applies very sheer.

AngeloMysterioso · 12/01/2022 18:27

Carmex Moisture Plus- I use the Berry shade.

Fedupsotired · 12/01/2022 19:57

I got one of these in a no 7 offer and love it!

I'm also a fan of Dior lip glow.
