Tinted lip balm. Help!!!!

I've decided I'd like to try a tinted lip balm as a more 'barely there" option to lipstick. I've just had a look on Amazon ( got a gift card for Christmas) at the gazillions of options. I have no idea what would be a good choice
For reference, I'm in my 50's. Have spent most of my teenage and adult life as "the nerdy one who is good at academics but has no idea about clothes, make up and style" but in the last few years has started to take a bit more interest in her appearance.
I am probably a classic spring. Blonde hair, blue eyes and very pale skin tone but definitely orange based rather than blue based. I look good in rust reds, turquoises and pale peachy pastels.
I don't want to pay more than necessary but would be happy to pay a couple more quid for something that is really good.
I would like a barely there effect with maybe a bit of sheen/gloss/ shimmer

Can you help me through the maze of options?

I like the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector in Toffee Shimmer- I keep coming back to it as I love it - my lips but with a sheen - very natural

Others I like Chanel new one, sone of the Bobbi brown and Nivea

Maybelline baby lips is a nice starting point to see if you like them (careful some are more highly pigmented than others)

MerryMarigold · 12/01/2022 21:14

I have a Burt's and a Calmex. I love my Calmex one. The Burt's is metallic which I don't really like and would steer clear of. The Calmex is tingly and helps my lips stay really moisturized. It was dirt cheap.

MerryMarigold · 12/01/2022 21:18

I can't believe it. Tried to find it and seems it's only available on eBay for 15.99!! Maybe it needs to be imported these days.

SiobhanSharpe · 12/01/2022 21:19

I love Dior lip glow too and have several, but it's not exactly a cheap option...
Although the Pink 001 (the original one) is the ultimate 'my lips but better' for me.

Westerman · 12/01/2022 21:21

This 8s the one I use. And love!
I'm 52, need lip balm all the time and use this when I need a little colour.

I second the Korres wild rose lip butter, the pomegranate one is also beautiful.

A bit (a lot) more expensive is the Roen liquid lip balm in Charlie www.cultbeauty.co.uk/roen-kiss-my...-liquid-lip-balm/13321911.html . It’s lovely to use and a very flattering, not garish but definitely ‘there’ shade.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 12/01/2022 21:36

I use this it is brilliant. It reacts to your natural skin tone comes on as a sheer type gloss. Looks a bit alarming as it is green but don't worry it doesn't come out green on your lips!

Dr lipp ones are good

eurochick · 12/01/2022 22:12

@CovidCurious

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour. I don't generally like the range except for lip balm - as well as a plain lip balm there are tinted options, too. They look scarily vivid in the tube but go on sheer and I think they look good.
I was about to post exactly this. I have one on me at all times. They have just enough colour. I mostly use the darkest one but as the other poster said they really don't come out that dark.
MONSTERSALAD · 12/01/2022 22:18

I have the Clarins lip perfector in rosewood shimmer, I think, and I love it. Smells nice and has a subtle colour so it makes me look slightly less deathly pallid without turning me into Pennywise if I put it on without a mirror.

Stevienickknocks · 12/01/2022 22:34

Another vote for Dior lipglow. V moisturising, doesn't stick to a mask and lots of colours. I like 001 like someone else has mentioned

MerryMarigold · 13/01/2022 08:31

OP, if I had a gift voucher I think I'd try this. Looks lovely

I like Burtsbees in Rose. Reasonable smudge of colour and very moisturising.

KirstenBlest · 13/01/2022 11:48

The Burt's Bees ones but check that it is tinted. The yellow tube ones aren't

The Nivea crayon ones - quite strong colour

Essence tinted lipbalm - natural-looking and cheap

GettingStuffed · 13/01/2022 12:46

Another vote for butts bees

Best typo ever 🤣🤣

Updating to say I am going to try some Burt's Bees ones. Pomegranate as many posters recommended and caramel and grapefruit lip shimmer.
Thank you all for your thoughts and recommendations.

KNDR beauty Mood Balm. Adjusts to your PH and created the perfect hue to your colouring. I love it as it doesn't feel like a greasy balm and is super moisturising!

SVDW1136 · 13/01/2022 18:58

Smith's Rosebud Salve Original Lip Balm - nicely moisturising and flattering sheer wash of colour. It’s basically Vaseline but worth trying if Vaseline suits you and you’d like a different colour.

wentworthinmate · 13/01/2022 20:16

@KiloWhat

Burns bees makes my lips sore I think I must be allergic.

I'd just start with nivea or something and go from therf

Same her, Burts Bees makes my lips dry and I start chewing them. Nivea tinted lip salve is better and lots cheaper.

I use Tropic i use clear but they do a tinted one,Best lip salve ive ever used.

Lndnmummy · 13/01/2022 23:11

I have tried most on the market I think. Pat Mcgrath are lovely as is Gucci. Both nice as a treat.
I am allergic to most lipsticks, its such a pain but I do ok with the above. Nars do great tinted lipbalms too. I have one in Dolce Vita which I love. Finally,
Guerlain also do great ones.
