Refreshingly realistic mid size model Phase Eight?

Was just browsing for a swimsuit and came across this model. Thought it was nice to see as plus size models normally seem to be very curvaceous, big breasts, small waists… the ones I’ve seen anyway.
@Warmduscher trying to be "clever" and avoiding the fact that you did make a judgemental comment ? The whole thread is about the positivity of using real life models in whatever shape or form they come . Such a shame that you can't see that in your one comment.
Not at all, if you choose to infer judgement, that’s on you.

She looks really good.

Mojoj · 09/01/2022 12:07

I wouldn't buy clothes I saw modelled on someone that size.

Why not?!
JuneFromBethesda · 09/01/2022 12:11

Asquith is brilliant for this too. Genuine range of sizes AND ages in the models they use. Definitely makes me (size 16, late 40s) more likely to buy the clothes.

dittymcdit · 09/01/2022 12:41

Gap also has larger models too and for each item (maybe not all their stuff) you can see it on someone model slim and bigger. I find it helpful as I'm somewhere inbetween!

Yes why? I mean I don’t particularly like those swimsuits but she could definitely sell me clothes

I prefer when they show it on a couple of different people. I’d find it hard to imagine how it would look on me (6-8) if they only show on a 14-16 model.

That’s the same problem those of us who are not a 6 - 8 have had for years
ShortDaze · 09/01/2022 12:56

I bought a second hand cashmere jumper mostly because for each item the website showed someone wearing with her height, dress size and photo. So I could really visualise how each jumper would look on.

ExConstance · 09/01/2022 13:35

I’ve got those knickers, they are half price in the sale. Also very comfy if you buy the right size.

Exactly. I'm in-between as a 10-12 shorty so tall and skinny doesn't work for me but neither does just a size 16
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/01/2022 14:03

There is this underwear company, forgot their name, they use models with lots of stretch marks and wobbly tummies.

I might be shallow, but it doesn't make me want to buy their products.

Notwithittoday · 09/01/2022 14:31

I just think it’s helpful to see body types similar to your own. I’m very tall but I’m straight built and a 12-14 so it’s nice to see people who are similar and stylish because I don’t know how to dress my body type very well

@Wigeon

Does it say what size she is? She looks like a size 12 to me - rather sad that that probably counts as plus size! Flat stomach, no fat round her face, probably within the healthy BMI range.
More like a 14.
RestingMurderousFace · 09/01/2022 17:23

I like models to look like models, sorry. Grew up collecting pictures of Naomi, Christy and Linda maybe that's to blame?

I agree. Although seeing wobbly tummies does encourage me to go to the gym so that's one positive!
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/01/2022 18:37

The one I have is understatement underwear. I understand their policy, and I think it must be a good thing, and yet...

chessycurls · 11/01/2022 22:05

Yeh, and it's a con, because if a 5'1'' woman is buying a size 14 then that might be outsize for her but by using a 5'11 model who is size 14 they are still showing a slim woman.

yep
