@faustina, yes, mine have had a few pulled threads, but they are very old now (from the first time they did them). They have held up well considering how much they have been worn. I wear mine with blundstones in winter.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2022 16:46

Oh well I've given up on the under £100 idea (was just trying to get a few little bits as presents) and added a couple of other things Blush, no problem going through now.

Saurus72 · 12/01/2022 16:52

Thanks @ilovecherries and @ToastCosILoveIt - my pinafore with the big pockets is a 10 too so will try the size 12 🤞

Likkleredridinghood · 12/01/2022 17:22

Toast experts can I pick your brains please Smile ? How is Toast sizing ? I appreciate some of it is oversized deliberately but for 'normal fit' blouses/tops how does it correlate with conventional sizes. I'm a size 12 in M and S /Seasalt/White stuff normally, bit of a shortie at 5ft 3 and pear shape/biggish boobs. A lot of you seem to downsize I think ? I can't afford much full price but have seen a few bits on ebay sadly non returnable. Any advice ! TIA.

faustina · 12/01/2022 17:33

@Likkleredridinghood - it very much depends on which item of clothing you're thinking of buying. Some things are very oversized, others quite neat fitting. Can you describe which they are?

Laska2Meryls · 12/01/2022 17:46

Toast shop in Bath Smile, saw the new yellow cardigan ( I think that its new) really like it ...but too short for me like so many other Toast knitwear..
They had Toast circle but no sale stuff.. great homeware section though... I tried on the indigo twill Alix and the navy cord gabis from last year I think liked those but they didn't have my size in either..
Fab actually seeing the stuff though ...

@Likkleredridinghood yes as @faustina says it varies depending on the item. I mainly buy dresses - I’m a solid size non-Toast 14 and most of my Toast dresses are size 12 and fit perfectly. Having said that, there’s a denim pinafore with big pockets on the Toast website now full price, and I bought that in size 10. And the year before last I bought a purple silk dress in size 18!

I don’t have any Toast knitwear but I believe that isn’t generally oversized - I would expect to buy size large in that. The linen boy t-shirt (which shrank horribly after I washed it the first time so wouldn’t recommend!) I bought in size XL.

Skirts tend to be quite small on the waist - I buy size 14.

I don’t tend to buy Toast on eBay for these reasons tbh, although you could always re-sell.

There are a couple of Toast outlet stores, one in Wales and the other in Somerset if you happen to be passing - very good prices.

mizu · 12/01/2022 18:08

Laska I'm going to Bath on Sunday hopefully and will definitely look at the TOAST circle as I still have 3 vouchers.

Saurus so true re TOAST skirts. I bought one recently on eBay size 10 and while it fits, it's bloody tight around the waist and not that comfortable to wear all day.

May take it along to the TOAST circle on Sunday Grin

Countmeout · 12/01/2022 18:18

@Likkleredridinghood I gave up buying on eBay mostly as I found some of the older things were smaller fitting. A 12 from Toast itself is generally too big on me in a blouse but I bought a blouse from eBay expecting the same fit and it was too small, it was an older piece. I resold it though.
Conversely I need a 12 in some button front dresses. But others fit in a 10. I think I have most things sussed but I won’t risk eBay again unless I am very sure that I have the same item so I can judge for size.

I have bought usuing PayPal under £100 @Theteapotsbrokenspout. That is very odd.

Laska2Meryls · 12/01/2022 18:19

Mizu They had a good selection of the Kantha jackets, also of nightwear , and displays of everything else just one of each out but more sizes out the back to try.. quite a lot of pieces were previous collections though.. I think that they are not automatically putting stuff on the sale and refreshing everything at end of season any longer. I suppose it is because they are doing 'slow fashion' now.. I really liked the cord Gabis in oil also ..I may order those

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2022 18:31

@Countmeout I’ve spoken to PayPal, Toast and my bank, they’re all blaming each other. I paid a different merchant yesterday no problem, but this happened with Toast just after Christmas as well Confused . I’m going to tackle them all again tomorrow.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2022 18:38

@Likkleredridinghood. I found the same , older pieces seem to be smaller and sizing is inconsistent anyway.

Unless you can find a piece that still has reviews it is very difficult to be sure of anything on ebay.
I bought a size 12 skirt that should have been plenty big enough but it was too tight on the waist, I did manage to sell it again but it has put me off buying Toast on ebay.

Saurus72 · 12/01/2022 18:42

That is odd @Theteapotsbrokenspout - I just bought the Sadie shirt which is £45 using PayPal which is linked to a debit card.

Mines a credit card, I’m going to tackle them first as I think they’re the likely culprit. PayPal did annoy me by keep saying just use a different card Hmm - well PayPal that doesn’t really solve the problem.
ToastCosILoveIt · 12/01/2022 20:40

So, my last sale parcel arrived this morning but i have been working so only just got a chance to try on things.

The Edith Oxford Shirt Dress in Spiced Orange is going back. I read the reviews and ordered in my high street size (12) and, while it fits, there isn't much room around the bust and there is something about the cut of it that means it does absolutely nothing for me. A shame as I love the colour.

The poplin PJ shirt in navy is a keeper but then I knew it would be as I have already got the yellow version. It is a wonderful shirt to throw on with jeans or more formal wear and to look 'done'. It would also make a great little jacket on a summer evening.

I also ordered the Trill Ikat Gathered Neck top in 12 and again, I love it. Although sleeveless, it almost has the beginnings of a cap sleeve which covers the top of the shoulders. I also really like the detail of a gathered neck which I can pull in or loosen out.

I also ordered a couple of the floral bandanas, a red one and a yellow one, both lovely and keepers.

That is it for me and the sale now. I have resisted the aran cardigan which you are all raving about. I have enough knitwear I think.

Has anyone tried the fern print dress that’s in the sale - it hasn’t got any reviews but looks nice?

Marmite71 · 12/01/2022 20:47

Weird! Reviews have just appeared.. I’m sure they weren’t there a minute ago!

Saurus72 · 12/01/2022 20:56

@Marmite71 I have last year’s version (cream/black leaves) of that dress and have worn it loads, pretty much year-round except for really hot days. My favourite way to wear it is in Spring/early Autumn with flat sandals and a crossbody bag - casual but a little bit glam in a 70s kind of way. It’s been a really useful dress. I bought my usual Toast dress size.

dollywouldnt · 12/01/2022 20:59

@Laska2Meryls I love the Bath store! It’s now my nearest one after moving out of London. It’s so big and spacious, with lots of stock and plenty of space for trying things on - I don’t miss the little Islington one at all. I got some green denim trousers from Toast circle there just before Christmas - would never have tried them on normally as not my usual colour scheme but because they were on the circle rail and I had a token to spend I did and I love them. I’ve worn them so much already.

MrsCat1 · 12/01/2022 21:01

Hi @Marmite71 I've got the fern print dress and I love it. The fabric is weighty and gorgeous. The top part is quite neat fitting with a full-ish skirt. It's quite high waisted but that suits me. Hope that helps.

Marmite71 · 12/01/2022 21:04

Thanks @MrsCat1 and @Saurus72 - all too helpful (!) - you may have persuaded me!

Laska2Meryls · 12/01/2022 21:14

dollywouldnt Fantastic, .. I live nowhere near a Toast store.. nearest would be Brighton or London,( or maybe even Bath) but all a heck of a long way.... It was such a treat going today . ..

Likkleredridinghood · 12/01/2022 22:39

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

AmethystMoonShine · 13/01/2022 08:17

Did anyone get the blue/slate striped long sleeve top? I’ve just discovered that by searching sale there are lots of thing that don’t show under the sale tab. Not new lines but ones in the sale earlier but presumably returned and so previously out of stock sizes showing up….. anyway I nabbed the aforementioned top in a M as I missed it first time around and hoped it might go with lots of things I already have. Lots of indigo and black denim mostly.

faustina · 13/01/2022 08:39

@AmethystMoonShine - I noticed the stock thing too - wondered (hoped) they'd reduce today?

I sent that back because I liked the colour and shape but felt it was too thick. I know someone else here kept it though
