Thank you @Nanasueathome

@Beetlejuice1971 - They never reduce the bedding, much to my annoyance! Haven't done for years!

Beetlejuice1971 · 05/01/2022 14:54

Thank you @Faustina and @SmaugMum ! Maybe I won’t buy it all in one fell swoop then... I will go back to lurking and enjoying this thread - so lovely to see I am not the only one who is a bit “obsessed “!

ilovecherries · 05/01/2022 16:23

First sale order arrived.

Slubby chambray shirt dress which I though I might love as it’s exactly my colour is going straight back. All I needed was a frilled cap and I would have been teleported back 45 years to nurse training.

Sadie shirt: absolutely love, definite keeper.

Cord raglan shirt in slate: undecided. I do really like it, trying to think what I’d wear it with as I like a wider shape on the bottom, so the overall look might end up a bit voluminous?

Striped PJ shirt with ties - also undecided. Worried it’s all a bit cluttered over the chest with the ties and wonder if they would irritate me after a bit.

Still waiting for crinkle cotton dress and Aran cardi.

dudsville · 05/01/2022 16:43

THE jumper arrived and.... I don't like it! I'm gutted. When I saw in the shop I really thought it was special and was so excited when it went in to the sale. Ah well. The shape didn't suit me and the fabric was much rougher than I recalled.

The tie neck shirt really didnt suit me. I sized down one size but it was still huge (and I wear veeery loose clothing).

And the adorable saraha yellow skirt is massive so it's also going back.

My arran jumper (it's so funny how many of us have ordered this. It could be the new "mumsnet scarf"!) arrives tomorrow.

So, you all just got to have a look at my grilled cheese for nothing!

Saurus72 · 05/01/2022 16:57

Oh that’s a shame about that blue dress @ilovecherries I had high hopes for it.

@dudsville - that grilled cheese though, definitely not a wasted picture, mmmmm

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2022 17:20

The Green Emma Striped tee ( which I forgot Id ordered ) arrived ..I like this a lot, I could have sized down though, but am keeping it .
Such a shame about the jumper dudsville

I thought that Chambray dress looked a bit like a nurses uniform, Cherries
re the cord shirt , its the same shape as the Lys I think which I sent back , having decided that the sleeves were impractical length to wear with anything else , and it was too wide at the bottom ..I think that you'd need to wear something under

dudsville · 05/01/2022 17:25

@ilovecherries, I also tried that chambray dress. I have several dresses this style, though all from Seasalt, where the cut is more traditional. I too returned it. I didn't look like a nurse. I looked like I was calling my children in from the prairie for dinner from off the wooden porch where my laundry was drying in the harsh wind.

faustina · 05/01/2022 17:30

@dudsville - that grilled cheese was a masterpiece! Such a shame about the jumper! Mine's arriving tomorrow but I'm half hoping to feel the same as I really really don't need another jumper. Which size did you get?

dudsville · 05/01/2022 17:46

Thank you @faustina, I do make a mean grilled cheese! I do hope you love your jumper, it would be a shame if some of us didn't come away with it. I honestly feel like I saw a different product in the shop, but perhaps it was just the effect of being in the shop. As for sizing, I'm a 14 usually, but more petite up top, and am therefore sometimes a 12 in Toast (for reference I'm always a 14 in Seasalt). But in toast dresses and bottoms I'm a strong 14 (except for one pair of toast culotte/trousers, but they were really, really weirdly huge). So, for this jumper I got a large hoping for a snuggly loose fit. My error was the boxiness, it was just far too wide. For the cardigans I chose medium as I planned to wear them open and they are comfy two of me could have fit inside it. Have you sized up/down/usual?

faustina · 05/01/2022 17:59

My last year fair isle was a small and it was, as you say, boxy and huge and to be honest it doesn't really do me any favours but it's so beautiful and so warm!

This year they only had a medium so I'm expecting similar but hopefully not too huge (or, if my bank balance is listening, far too big and going straight back).

If I hadn't just FINALLY worked my way through to the end of the christmas cheese, your sandwich would have inspired me to make one, but as things stand, I'm giving cheese a miss for a month or so

dudsville · 05/01/2022 18:05

Fingers crossed for you, it is very pretty!

ilovecherries · 05/01/2022 18:11

I need a cheese sandwich now. Preferably with wine.

I have the chambray dress in burgundy. I haven’t recovered yet from a child commenting I was an ugly lady in it (I also wasn’t wearing hair at the time so maybe I did look a bit startling to a 4 year old). Then her mother told her to shush as I was a nun 😳. So ordering the chambray was really an act of optimism over experience.

ScottishMouse · 05/01/2022 19:00

I was in my local Toast today to make some returns. They had no sale stock at all.
I tried on the gingham dress with the puffy sleeves that I ordered from JL this morning. It’s still full price in Toast. The sleeves were super unflattering on me. But I love the fabric so much that I am considering keeping it anyway and turning it into a skirt. Is this madness? I have done it before with a red and navy check dress that I got at Toast circle because it was too small across the bust but I loved the fabric. But that was essentially free. My thinking is that I know I can do it and I would totally buy a skirt in that fabric if Toast did one, and probably at full price too.

Stoic123 · 05/01/2022 19:43

Ha ha. Loving the descriptions of the slubby dress. I love mine (looks a bit like an old fashioned school uniform on me) - but then I do like an "institutional" look. I will avoid frilly hats!

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2022 19:52

Faustina has the Brora pre sale started yet?

FiddleFigs · 05/01/2022 19:55

Well I returned the Pihu dress and Tattersall dress this morning. I’m regretting returning the Tattersall one, but I ummed over it for a while, which made me think I probably didn’t love it. Might reconsider if it pops up again on further reduction.

I do love and am keeping the aran cardi in chalk, which arrived today. Even though my 8 year old said it looked like a baby’s cardigan she once had (and yes, it does a bit).

faustina · 05/01/2022 19:55

Yes it has Laska

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 05/01/2022 20:26

My slubby chambray dress arrived yesterday, it fits really well but I know exactly what you mean @ilovecherries . I need to try the dress on with a selection of accessories to get a real feel for it, and run an iron over it as it’s rather crumpled with the hem folded up.

I'm still waiting for two parcels but I’m beginning to think the anticipation is better than the arrival.

dudsville · 05/01/2022 20:28

That made me laugh @ilovecherries!

I think I will make grilled cheese tomorrow. I'm sure we have tins of tomato soup. The weather's just turned cold.

dudsville · 05/01/2022 20:30

@Theteapotsbrokenspout, I hope you get some things you like. I did get some wonderful things early on. Fingers crossed for you. I'm awaiting the baby cardi now apparently.

dudsville · 05/01/2022 20:37

Do you all know about Harley of Scotland wool jumpers? I bought one on the Trouva website and just love it.

TOAST 2022, what will it bring us?!
ScottishMouse · 05/01/2022 20:44

Harley of Scotland are amazing @dudsville. I have a few of their jumpers bought from a local boutique. I never thought to look on Trouva though, so that is a great tip.

Stoic123 · 05/01/2022 20:54

@dudsville- that is gorgeous!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 05/01/2022 21:06

That skirt is one I’m waiting for @dudsville , only in the slate. There were some good reviews for it and I was looking for a nice winter weight skirt.

NoCureForLove · 05/01/2022 21:31

Lots of Harleys on this fab website - the fabulously named Dicks of Edinburgh
