80’s pixie boots

GoodnightGrandma · 17/12/2021 21:39

I’m having an 80’s thing at the moment and was thinking about the pixie boots I used to wear, with leg warmers.
Has anyone seen anything similar ?

Loved my olive green pixie boots!

RosesAndHellebores · 20/12/2021 20:15

I had dark brown leather ones and wore them for years. Had a matching slouchy handbag.

When I got them I used to tuck my sweatshirt into my jeans and wear a puffa. After a few years, I wore them with tracking, a longish t shirt with a shorter jumper over it.

By about 88, I'd worn them for painting and they were almost cooler with a bit of polish over the emulsion.

Daisymclazy · 20/12/2021 20:22

My lovely Mum bought me a pair of 'pixie' boots circa 1990. Black waterproof ones with a furry lining. I was a brat and wouldn't wear them. She still wears them when it snows.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/12/2021 22:24

@SingingSands that's so lovely. Can you still tell your dad about it, I think it would be a happy reminder.

Pinkflask · 20/12/2021 22:40

I went to a very small infant school and when it was your birthday you went up in assembly and sat on the headmistress’s knee and told everyone about your day so far. Anyway I clearly remember a “big girl” (who was probably 6 or 7) telling us she got a pair of pixie boots for her birthday and feeling she was quite impossibly glamorous ever after.

mrshoho · 20/12/2021 22:40

I had black suede pixie boots and remember steaming them over the kettle to try and get the water marks off. Also had white slouch boots worn in the summer with white mini skirt, white choose life baggy t shirt and about a thousand fluorescent bangles.

We used to save our money and go to Shellys on Oxford Street for our boots those were the days!

EBearhug · 20/12/2021 22:46

I had grey pixie boots. I loved them.

Mermaidwaves · 21/12/2021 01:05

I was never allowed pixie boots! I remember being 5 or 6 and best friend had a pair, I was green with envy! It was a snowy winter and they looked so cosy, I coveted them so bad but my mum made me wear black Clarke's shoes instead Sad

mumofEandE · 21/12/2021 01:15

@RaskolnikovsIgloo

I think mine were like this.
Yes - mine were like this - metallic lilac Thank Goodness for lack of photos / videos/ evidence of this 80s atrocity Grin
Bluesparkled · 21/12/2021 03:26

Grey suede, very slouchy low ankle, no zips, pointy toe. Dolcis, maybe? Really want some now though at 47 I suppose I wouldn’t look quite the same 😢

GoodnightGrandma · 21/12/2021 06:57

Pixie boots were basically flat, perhaps a 1/2’’ heel, with a pointy toe.
Baggy enough to get your leg warmers in,

Mine were yellow suede. Think they were from Miss Selfridge

boatyardblues · 21/12/2021 07:45

I've been looking for a pair of flat, brogue style lace up ankle boots. I used to have several in the 2000s to 2100s. I have rejected so many because they have zips.

If you have larger feet Clarks have a laced brogue ankle boot in their autumn men’s collection and there is a “warm” (shearling lined) option. Not a zip in sight. The styling is unisex IMO.

antisocialsocialclub · 21/12/2021 11:32

@Gensola

I had mushroom ones - no zip, but super slouchy leather. I adored them!
I would totally wear mushroom flat slouchy boots. 🥰 Would look great with my charcoal grey skinnies goes off frantically to find some but knowing I’ll be disappointed
Flyinggeese1234 · 23/12/2021 09:37

Any luck OP? This thread has been great for reminiscing, but seriously now, these need a comeback. As do leg warmers.

CousinGregg · 23/12/2021 09:40

I had navy ones with kind of ribbed leather. Has anyone found any 80s style ones? Max one inch heel?

I’ve got leg warmers ! No, no luck. None of these are like the pixie boots I had.

I picked up some grey suede ones (slightly pointed toe, no heal to speak of, slouchy) at a jumble sale (had no money for new ones) and I wore them TO DEATH..

I got a black pair about 15 years ago from somewhere or other that were OK, but not quite right, and a bit tight on my toes... I'd totally love another pair now you've mentioned it and will have to keep my fingers crossed and my eyes open for some :D

GoodnightGrandma · 23/12/2021 10:46

I might go for some of these if I don’t find anything that looks more like a pixie boot.

GalaPie · 23/12/2021 17:06

I bought a pair down East Street market for £6 in 1982. Burgundy suede, loved 'em, wore em to death.

LadyEloise1 · 30/09/2022 10:02

Hotter do a Pixie 111 boot. Cute

happyinherts · 30/09/2022 10:57

The wine coloured Pixie Boots from Hotter are quite nice. Not the same as 80s fashion though. Wonder - the 114 people looking at them right now - all Mumsnetter's !

Inextremis · 30/09/2022 11:23

These are very similar to the ones I used to wear in the 80s - only mine didn't have a zip and the toe was more pointed. bargain price, though!

EvilRingahBitch · 30/09/2022 11:39

I had grey suede slouchy pixie boots from Freeman Hardy and Willis. I loved them dearly.

I went out with my parents and tried on every single pair of boots on Putney High Street, twice (I went back and forward between the various shoes shops to compare and contrast). My DPs were profoundly scarred by the experience and still complain about it to this day, but they were The Perfect Boots and I consider it time well spent.

Mochacino · 30/09/2022 11:44

Mine were bright red. I was 7 and I bloody loved them. Skinned the ankles off my chicken legs so my dad, a plumber, lined the inside with some kind of insulation foam stuff😂😂
