Snag tights - how are they supposed to fit?

Hello! So I've been eyeing Snag tights for a long time as most tights dig in at my waist (I do admit I have a somewhat sensitive waistline and can't do tight clothes around my waist like other women seem to be able to do), but I've had good luck here and there with some tights so I'm not a lost cause.

Anyway, I was seduced by the raving reviews both on MN and other platforms and ordered some tights over the weekend, which arrived today. And they dig in at the waist.

I'm 5.4" and usually a size 10, 12 for some jeans, but mostly an S/M, but I'm also pregnant so as recommended I ordered a size up and went for a D. Looking at the pictures of other women wearing a size D I got the impression those models were larger/taller than I, but that it should be fine given my future bump... well, I'm 18 weeks right now, I have a small bump that's mostly bloat and I doubt size D is going to fit me in a few weeks (even today I could not stand the pressure for longer than 15 minutes).

I emailed them with some fit questions and photos but so far haven't gotten a response, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Did I get the wrong size?

Photo attached of me pre-pregnancy, but those jeans still fit me (expect for little bump) so you'll get an idea of my size.

Following as I'm the same size as you and want to order some but can't decide size.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 19/11/2021 18:31

I'm a 12/14 with a considerable arse and a bit too much belly. I wear a C from snag and adore them, they never feel tight.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/11/2021 18:32

What dress size are you? There is a size guide on the website with height and dress size.

AlannaOfTrebond · 19/11/2021 18:33

I'm 5'10 and a size 12 to 14 and wear a size D and they fit perfectly.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 19/11/2021 18:33

Sorry see 10/12, you should get a C.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 19/11/2021 18:34

I see now looking at the size guide I should be a D. I must have still been trying to kid myself I was still a size 10 when I started buying them and just keep buying the same size. They fit though!

Howshouldibehave · 19/11/2021 18:39

I hate tight things round my waist as well-I don’t think I have worn tights for about 25 years!

I just wear lovely stretchy wide-waisted leggings as tights and I doubt anyone could tell from the 3 inches of black leg you can see between the top of my boots and the bottom of my skirt/dress that I’m wearing leggings.

Sorry, that isn’t anything to do with snag tights but I don’t think I’ll ever be spending money on tights again!

moimichme · 19/11/2021 18:55

OP, I had this problem when I was pregnant too. At that time I was very sensitive to any constriction around my middle (but hadn't been that way previously), so I didn't really wear tights then. I wonder if that's common in pregnancy and why so many maternity trousers go over the bump? Anyway, I love my snag tights now but wasn't able to wear them while pregnant. So you may want to return them (if that's possible) or hold onto them until after pregnancy. Although if it's an issue you've had forever like some PPs, then you might want to return them.

irene88 · 19/11/2021 19:55

Hi everyone, thanks for all the comments and lovely advice. It does sound like I got the right size and they just aren't for me, which is a bummer as I was so looking forward to these :(

I will be returning the other two but I guess keeping the one I tried on, as I can't return that one for hygiene reasons.

The hype for me is they actually fit I spent years, even at school with tights with the crotch half way down my thighs, trying to pull them up more but there was no more fabric! I'm 5ft 10 and a size 16-18 but even at a 12-14 they were never roomy or long enough
TheChosenTwo · 20/11/2021 13:29

Me too @NotMyCat I don’t wear any other tights now, I binned every other pair I owned, saggy crotch falling down is just the crappest thing to have to be faffing about with when you’re out.
These fit me to perfection and the same 4 pairs have lasted me about a year and a half.
I’ve saved an absolute fortune in tights! I used to buy a 3 pack from the supermarket every few weeks, ladders and just poor fit every time.
Sounds like you’re are too small op if the waist is digging in, either size up if you can be bothered or return. Tricky as when you’re pregnant your shape is changing almost daily.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 20/11/2021 14:40

I am same height as you and size 10 - I wear size A/B in Snag tights. So that might work for you after pregnancy?

I couldn't bear tights at all in pregnancy.

Roystonv · 20/11/2021 14:43

Sorry however good they are their recent choice of models I have found offensive, what do others think?

Toastytoads · 20/11/2021 14:49

I don't find their models offensive? I don't understand why anyone would.

tanstaafl · 20/11/2021 14:59

Psst!
Who’s gonna tell OP she’s got different shoes on.

VanillaAndOrange · 20/11/2021 15:55

I'm 5'5" and size 16 sometimes verging on 18. I buy size E, and they fit me well in the body but are maybe a fraction too long in the legs, which doesn't bother me too much because I usually wear them with boots. I could possibly wear the D but am reluctant to try because they're more than I usually pay for tights.

VanillaAndOrange · 20/11/2021 15:55

PS - my friend who is slightly shorter than me and size 14-16 is very happy with the D.

ThereWeAreThen79 · 21/11/2021 06:12

Which models in particular? Snag is one of the most inclusive companies I have ever dealt with. I love seeing how people of all shapes and sizes (not to mention people with disabilities) style their tights. Also they may struggle at times but their customer service is second to none. If you message them through their official Facebook page I find they respond quicker.

OP you should be able to sell your Snags on the fan groups on FB. Even worn ones as long as you launder and state this in your post.

poblwc · 21/11/2021 06:34

Have you tried heist tights @irene88? They've got a much wider waist band so don't dig in. I find them much more comfortable than snag and was able to wear the same size right though pregnancy. They are expensive, but I've had the same two pairs for about 3.5 years, so they do last.

Here's a referral code for 20% off if you want to try them. Link.

The fetishist type male model, bare chested and wearing silky women's pants and enjoying the attention. Not a problem at all in private but not acceptable in public however 'kind' we are meant to be. 'Kindness' is erasing women's rights and I felt this was a step too far. I commented on their FB page to be told men have worn tights throughout history - not quite the point I was making.

Is there any chance of you keeping your agenda off a thread about how fucking tights fit?
Roystonv · 21/11/2021 07:05

People asked, I answered.

PineappleTart · 21/11/2021 07:07

The first few pairs of tights I got from snag were super comfortable but they changed at some point and all pairs I've bought since (I kept thinking I got unlucky) have been shorter in the bit between crotch and band and tighter in the band as well. I tend to just keep wearing the old pairs :(

AnnieSnap · 21/11/2021 18:35

They have 2 fittings. Regular and Curvey. Either try the curvey in the same size, or the regular in a size up. I hope that works for you. I never have problems with fit from Snag. I love them.
